Just curious if anyone has had caffeine withdraw headaches, and how long they last?? I am going on day two now, and its a killer headache.
I was drinking diet pop, but doctor said it could be whats causing my kidney stones. So I have quit all diet pop and caffeine. WOAH might be a long couple days. lol But I am sleeping better being off it.
I get a little cranky when I don't get coffee in the morning. Very slight fogginess/headache. But it actually goes away within an hour.
A highschool friend said she had slight headaches for about one week when she stopped drinking caffeine. She drank a lot of coffees, though. After that week, she was free & clear.
When I've gone off caffeine (for no real medical reason, just when it felt too much like an addiction than an enjoyable beverage), it took three or four days for me to feel 100% again (no headaches, irritability, tiredness). It really depends on the extent to which you drank soda/coffee/tea before you go off. If it gets unbearable, did your dr. say whether or not you could phase them out? Maybe cutting down every day would ease you through this better? If the dr. says cold turkey, though, then cold turkey it is. Good luck!
With coffee, I am trying to get myself off of the caffeine. I don't drink that much soda--but coffee is another story. I bought the Half Caf stuff...starting out slow.
I am big coffee drinker also. i switched to 1/2 caff and when ran out when to decaf . The headache just keeps getting worse, and I can't quit yawning. Hoping it doesn't last to much longer.
I've never just waited the headaches out, so I can't tell you. When I get them it's so bad I can't think. So if I'm trying to reduce or cut out caffeine, I HAVE to do it gradually.
If it's diet pop specifically that you're trying to avoid, maybe try a cup of green or black tea? Could take the edge off...
Most everyone I know who has gone off caffeine says it takes a week for withdrawl to go away. I know DH get headaches around noon if he hasn't had coffee, but I don't have this problem. I don't drink much coffee to begin with though.
Drinking water may help. Staying hydrated is supposed to help with headaches. Would it be bad to take a few advil while dealing with this? It might help you get through.

You are looking at a hard week, I watched a study about this on discovery health, the truth about food,
The lady they studied had horrible headaches and shakes for the first few days, by 7 days, she was not only rid of the headaches, but scored just as well as she did the last day while she was on coffee.
You can take something for your headaches, just don't get addicted to that too!
