Default Facial hair removal?

Has anybody tried sally hansen pain free brush on hair remover cream for the face? It is suppose to be pain free and dissolve hair below the skins surface, so there's no shadow or stubble left on your face. It has aloe vera gel and chamomile oil to condition the skin... I am inquiring for friend and she is concerned about chemical burns and a bit leary to go this route... I thought it sounds like a great option to get rid of the hair above her lip, the dreaded chickstache that she hates. The product reviews she has read have mixed reviews, so I thought I would post it here and hope for a reply or two that can give this product the thumbs up. Thanks in advance. ~wendalyn

Lightbulb Imo

I tried it and I was disappointed with the results. According to the directions you have to wait until your facial hair is almost 3/4". I work at home so I don't have to go out in public but who would feel comfortable doing that? I wouldn't! It took a week and my facial hair still wasn't that long so I went ahead anyway and applied the hot wax and it didn't work at all! I was so mad. I can't use the delipilatory creams either because for some reason my hair doesn't come off and it leaves my skin red and inflamed.

Years ago, I went to a dermatalogist and had two treatments, at $99 each, for facial hair removal. It's painful but not that painful. I ran out of money at the time and I was told I needed about 4-5 more treatments to finish the job. So, I spent the next six years shaving every day. That sucks too because you get a five o'clock shadow by the end of the day and your lower face feels rough.

My FINAL SOLUTION: was that this past spring I decided to let my chin and jawline hair grow out and then I plucked it. It took me FIVE DAYS to pluck over 300 individual stubbly hairs! The first time was painful and I used a cream that had aloe in it to sooth it afterwards. I now pluck the regrowth every day which takes me less than five minutes. It was worth it and it was a cheap way to finally get rid of all my facial hair.

Yeah that is what she has been doing plucking weekly, sometimes daily, big sigh that must hurt like helllllllooo. So glad it is working and worth it, I imagine if you continue to do that the hairs will get less and less eventually overtime.
But this sally hanson product she is interested in is not a hot wax, it is a cold cream with a brush. I suppose she may just have to try it and do a test patch on her arm or something first. Thanks so much for replying pamatga, much appreciated.

I haven't used that particular product. I used to wax but broke out horribly and the breakouts would last for days.

Right now I am plucking the black stubble daily and I use regular Nair on my face every couple weeks to get rid of the blond stuff. I have found that after I wash it off if I apply a very thin layer of lanolin and go to bed all the redness and chemical burn feeling is gone by morning. Make sure you sleep on an old pillowcase as the lanolin will stain.

i do find that when ive got time to let it grow for a week i use aloe infused wax strips, sugaring is also good for short hairs, then you can pluck the remaining little ones out. after a while the hair follicles will be destroyed and wont grow through any more.
Why not try electrolysis, i used to be a beauty therapist and the prices arnt that bad, and the procedure is relitively painless, dont be embarassed some of my clients used to come in and have their nipples and 'snail trails' done as well as fully fledged chest hair.

There is another method whicch is called threading and very popular in the middle east, its like having your eyebrows plucked but with cotton and the result is quicker, and lasts longer. i would advise you to try it if you can.

Personalyl i rotate between veet wax and plucking and shaving with a mach 3 mens razor

I have not tried the one you are asking about, but I have tried about 5-7 other kinds of depilatories. I LOVE Veet Hair Removal Cream - Sensitive Formula. I use it on my lip, chin, bikini area... The package says not to use this on facial skin, but the ingredients are identical to the ingredients in Veet Facial Kit. It does leave my skin a little red for awhile - about the same as waxing it did. Sometimes I have to wash it off my face before some of the thicker hairs have dissolved - but then it's super easy to just pluck those. I do this routine about every 3-4 weeks. I'm thinking to do laser though. It would be nice to not even have to think about it.

Unfortunately,

no hair removal cream has ever worked for me.

I have had laser hair removal done and I do use tweezers for the strays.

I use GiGi hair removal cream that I found at a local Sally's Beauty Supply. I like it because it doesnt' contain any oil in the actual removal cream which is good because I can't use any oil on my face or i'll get nasty breakouts. Other creams have done this to me but not this one. Of course the calming cream contains oil, but I don't use it for that reason.
