Greetings from a jiggly newbie!

  • Wow! I found 3FC by accident yesterday, and I think I may be hooked! Here's a little about me.

My name is Jennifer and I've been overweight my entire life - my heaviest was around 205 and my lowest weight as an adult was around 170 when I was doing hardcore South Beach a few years back. I'm back up to about 190 now, which was a shock when I realized it (I don't own a scale, and had been squeezing myself into my size 14 jeans for a while - the muffin top look was NOT attractive!).

Last spring I started adding cardio to my day, in the form of the Turbo Jam videos, and in the last month or so I've been focusing on my eating, eliminating sugar and white flour, adding lots of veggies and fresh foods. It's a work in progress. My 30th birthday was last month and I went off the wagon big time, and gained at least 2 pounds for sure. I'm leaving that (and other excuses) behind me and making a real commitment to changing myself.

I currently live in China, where I teach English. Living here has some different challenges for becoming fit - it's harder to find fresh fruits and vegetables in the winter and get nutritional info for foods - but it also has some advantages. Veggies are a staple and can be found at every meal and I walk everywhere and live on the 6th floor of a building with no elevator. You'd think I'd be thinner by now, huh?

I'm still exploring the site and would appreciate any recommendations for boards to look at or join. I'm going to check out the Turbo Jam board, as well as the compulsive overeating board - binge eating has been a problem for me in the past, and could easily become so again.

Thanks in advance for all your help, and I hope that I can be support to y'all as well!
  • Hello Jennifer!

I'm a jennifer too (but prefer Jenny) and I used to teach English as well! I did it in Italy and Poland, but it was about 10 years back now. One good thing about teaching I found was all the trips to the photocopier, espceially one school I taught at in London had loads of stairs and with me trotting up and down them all day it helped keep me trim!

Don't worry about falling off the wagon - look on it more of a short break, it's good you've decided not to let it ruin your weight loss plans. Looking forward to hearing about more weight loss - I have to get myself back on track too, I need all the help and encouragement I can get!!
  • Hey, Jenny! Thanks for the greetings. I've never actually been to Europe, which seems strange since all I wanted to do when I was in college was live in Italy. So I'm totally jealous of you - although I like Asia, too!

There seems to be lots of encouragement on the site, and I'm very glad. I've joined the WOW challenge over on the Challenge sub-forum, if you're interested.

    Have a great day!
  • Hey & Best of luck to you!
