has anyone here joined LA weight loss and found it isnt working for them?

Patty - Welcome! I don't know much about LA Weightloss, but as Heather said there is a whole forum of people here on LAWL. From the little I know, I think you shouldn't have to worry about calories as the plans are tailored for you to take that into account.
