Let me introduce myself...

  • Hi everyone! I have been posting for a couple of days now, but I haven't actually introduced myself. My name is Christina, and I am a 29-year-old mother of two, a 10-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy. I work in IT, so I am usually sitting.
I gained 40 pounds when I was pregnant with my daughter and have kept it ever since. I have tried every diet under the sun and have yet to lose anything. I love fast food and snacking. My new bedroom closet doors are mirrored, so I constantly see myself, when I'm standing, sitting, or going to sleep. It's an awful image to look at, so I need to do something. That, and I can't seem to walk up stairs without losing my breath.
The problem right now is that my DH and I gutted our house in April and we are slowly rebuilding. That means I have not had a kitchen since then and I don't think I will have one until winter. I have a stove and fridge, but that's it, no counter, no sink. So I have been trying to cope with that.
Anyway, I will be posting regularly so thanks in advance to any advice you give me.
    And wish me luck...
  • Glad to have you here.

There are very encouraging people and they are more than happy to give support when ever you need it. Don't be afraid to ask questions. someone might have an answer. If not we will sure come up with suggestions if we can. Don't be afraid to post anywhere you have something to add. You are more than welcome. Each of us loves to hear that is going on with everyone else.

The journey we are all making to a more healthy and thinner person isn't always easy but it is well worth the effort. We all know diets don't work. We have to change the way we look at, think about, and eat food. We are in control of what goes into our body's. We eat to live not live to eat. Although banana ice cream is sure worth living to eat lol.

Look around the different threads. Read posts, you will find people are doing all different kinds of things to lose weight and keep it off. Some like set plans like Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers, some like to count calories some are into low carb.

Myself, I use a salad plate instead of a breakfast or lunch plate. I use a lunch plate instead of a dinner plate. Portions sizes were one of my big problems, this really helps. When the family is having one of my favorites ( tonight was hamburger and beans ) I eat what they eat, just watch my portion size. I also took out all the hamburger, I love how the beans and broth taste cooked with the hamburger but don't need the hamburger. When they are having something I can take or leave, I eat lean cuisines or lean pockets. Can have these three times a day if I want and still stay under the sodium allowed.

Always keep in mind, you aren't doing this alone. We are here for you.

Remember, when you think you are doing it alone. When there isn't a person in sight to give you encouragement. God is right there beside you. Usually yelling put down that candy bar.
  • to the beach. You will find a lot of support and guidance here.
  • Welcome, Christina! I have next to no counter space (literally a two foot square counter and that's IT!) and I manage. Do you have a table in your kitchen? That's what I use for food prep a lot. I also put things on the stove or over the sink if they fit. What about a sturdy card table?

It's great to have you here! Looking forward to getting to know you better!
