Default What's Up Wednesday Chat

Good middle of the night, chicks.

That's right, I'm up again. I was hoping the tiredness from last night would put me to sleep early tonight, but that is not to be. Thank goodness DH gets back this afternoon. I'm thinking about taking the afternoon off and coming home to sleep until he gets in. I'll just have to wait and see if we have any problems at the office. Well, that's it for now. Hopefully I'll be in "Lala Land" in the next 30 minutes or so. Have a good morning as I'm sure I'll be checking in late again!

I didn't sleep too well either..ended up having a really weird nightmare that woke me up. It's funny now, but not funny then.

Yesterday was a strange day. The morning was horrible..one thing happening after the other starting out with the puppy throwing up in my bed. Then it got better. I got to school and a tech guy was setting up 6 new computers in my classroom. I ended up having to double up kids on computers, but they were very good about it and by the 3rd class, I had an entire classroom of working computers...the last of the 1995 models were gone!
Then, when I got home, a friend called to tell me that a girl we know was killed in an accident. She was my daughter's age. Small town where everyone knows everyone. Very very sad. She leaves behind a daughter. Her Mom was on that silly wife swap show. (You may have seen it...her Mom was the "religious screamer") Actually her Mom is really nothing like that..she is a very nice and funny and kind person. Very sad situation for them to have lost such a precious girl. I hope the press respects their privacy since they were very cruel after that show.

Gosh Kim, I hope the sleep pattern changes soon for you. Have you tried Sleepytime tea or even meltonin or valerian?

Cat, that is so horrible about that young girl. Some times life just isn't fair. I do hope the press leave them alone - sometimes they are sharks.

One of my dear friends, John, has set up "The Lucy Foundation" as a memorial to her! He is the Director of the HIV-AIDS Support who will use the fund to help clients with vet visits for their pets. Isn't that cool? Now to find a good picture of my darling.

Once again I'm not feeling "up" for gym. It's actually physical as my knee is particularly sore this morning. I think I walked around too much doing pet therapy at the nursing home last night - and it's raining which makes it worse.

Donna comes to clean this morning which will be great. I plan to hole up in my sewingroom while she's here. I find I participate too much if I don't get out of her way and that's just plain silly.

Here's a pic of October sneaking in across the meadow.

Oops! Donna just called and canceled as her grandson has some school event today. She'll come tomorrow. So here I am with a day all to myself and I've already done the pre-Donna tidying! Yippee! I'm still going to sew.

Another oops! Just check my calendar and Gentle Yoga is supposed to start tonight. I need to call because it is probably a no-go since not enough people registered.

See y'all later. I'm going to go soak in the tub with my new Canadian Gardening magazine. Life is good!

Kim, I hope you were able to finally fall asleep! Have you tried the Sleepytime tea? It really works for me.

Cat, that's such sad news. I hope today is a better day for you.

Ruth, what a wonderful way to celebrate Lucy's life! That's is such a kind, thoughtful thing for your friend to do. I was going to tell you to staya out of Donna's way, but just read your next post! Ok, have a nice relaxing soak instead.

I just got back from my weigh & measure at Curves, and let's just say, it's time for me to get my act together again! I guess I have been kind of overdoing lately, but nevermore. will be used abundantly around here!

Good Morning
I was up at 4 am this morning and tried to go back to sleep but no luck! I had to scoot into work and am hopefully getting new batteries today. . .with the lower back of dawn morning I was actually in the center of town b 7:15! If only I could get to bed at a decent hour!
we ended up at the inlaws last night I didn't do too badly MIL is super healthy we got sandwiches so I had half a turkey and swiss on a WW wrap and a smidge of potato salad. Then she had the worlds tiniest carrot cake for BIL's wife's birthday and I had the tiniest piece.
Can I just say I'm awesome for a minute? I'm organizing a bake sale for Charity with a halloween theme at work and I was donation queen of the universe yesterday I have 100 mini pumpkins and one Giant one for our guess the weight. 2 dozen cider doughnuts and a bushel of apples. and I got an email this morning from an Artisan Baker that he wants to contribute! It was the turn around of my grumpy stressful day! Now I just have to massage some cider out of a farm.
Ruth I'm totally envious of your tub soak And your meadow! That's so wonderful about the Lucy Foundation!! Tell us if we can do anything to help!
Cat are hearts go out to you and that girls family! Yay New Millenium Puters!!!!
Kim Hopefully with DH being back your sleep will normalize! until then

Good Morning chicks,
Ruth, thanks for sharing that beautiful picture, I just love the fall, sigh.
Kim, poor thing. I do not do well without my sleep. I hope you can catch up with DH home.
Cat, that is very sad news. I live in that kind of town too. Everyone's life affects everyone else's.
cottage, I'm sure you'll get back on track today!

Just a normal day around here again. I'm about to walk the kids to school and hit the track for a bit. Then work, etc. There's a meeting tonight I should attend but I'm not sure I'll make it. Got to get ready for tomorrow which will be a running around day of many meetings. Hope your days are super!

Morning Ladies, feeling a bit disconnected this morning, don't think I slept very well either, dreaming all night does not make for a restful sleep. I feel for you Kim!

Cat So sorry to hear that, we have lost some young kids in our community and it is so hard!

Ruth Happy to hear what your friend is doing in Lucy's memory. Hope your yoga class has enough people.....I adore yoga and shamefully it is about the only exercise I do.

Cottage Tons of willpower dust to you!

KO Cider donuts........yummmm! LOL way to go, you rock!

Schmoodle Enjoy the calm day today!

To eveyone else yet to check in, hello and have a great day. Time to chug some coffee and shake the cobwebs from my brain.

Thanks for starting us up, Kim, though I wish you could get more sleep! An afternoon snoozer sounds perfect! Can I join you?

Wow, Cat, sounds like a heck of a day. I'm so sorry about your friend's daughter. That's awful! It does seem to hit us harder when the one involved is similar in age to one we love, doesn't it? Congrats on the new computers, though!

Ah, Ruthie, you are just one incredible lady! Nothing holds you down for long. Your soak sounds wonderful and I could just kiss your friend John for doing something that sweet for you and Lucy. You will let us know how we can donate if we want, right? Not that our American dollars are worth much in Canadian currency lately! Grr... Enjoy the day to yourself and the sewing...sounds divine!!! Loved the picture...it does seem that the trees are changing a bit early this year, doesn't it?

Cottage, you are such an inspiration for the way you can pick up, dust yourself off, and get back on the wagon! I know you can do it!!!

Wow, KO, you are a star!!! What a fantastic event you are organizing...such hard work and for such a good result. YGG!!

Schmoodle, you sound pretty darn busy! Have fun at the track!

Pacer, I think you have done pretty darn well with your yoga...don't beat yourself up! You're doing so well at reclaiming your health!!! After all, Madonna was supposed to have slimmed down entirely on yoga exercising!

Me:
Well, went in to the nutrition clinic yesterday--apparently the exercise is helping, since I built muscle and lost fat, but my weight didn't go down overall, and that's pretty frustrating. I should have measured myself at my highest, but I didn't...and if I do it now, the only thing I have to compare it to is what I measured when I was 40 pounds lighter! I'd love to go by how my clothes are fitting, but they're not really much looser. Oh well...we decided that I'd try to knock out 200 calories a day in hopes that will help. My counselor is afraid that if we take out more than that I'll feel deprived and end up eating more...but I keep thinking at that rate, I'll be losing less than a 1/2 lb per week! I know...I need to buck up and deal! Hopefully the work I'm doing with protein and exercise, combined with the extra muscle, will help my metabolism work better.

Normal day--work, gym, make and eat dinner, head to my 'food and mood' therapy group. I'm just looking forward to sleep!

Have a GREAT day, chicks! We're enjoying a strange 'late summer' here complete with 80+ temps and trees that are changing colors. Weird, but nice!

Cat- That's so sad! I must admit I've seen both of the wife swap episodes and I remember thinking that both of the daughters (and granddaughter!) were so sweet that there was no way the mom could be that crazy IRL.

So, I was up at the crack of butt this morning because someone on my hall left early and forgot to turn their alarm off, so it's been going off since 7AM! It's the room sort of next to mine (a teeny hall in between the rooms, and a circle shaped building) so the sound is going right out her open window into my closed one! It's so nice out that I'd love to open the window, but it's already blisteringly loud. The other girls in my hall were considering calling the police to open the door to shut off the alarm, but that's too much effort.

Now I'm watching last night's Daily Show that I missed with my buddy Evo Morales. <3

I was tired when I went to bed last night after only 4 hours of sleep on Monday night so I was not happy when the pager went off at 1:30 and I had to get up and spent a half hour recycling the application. I was even less happy when it happened again at 3! I still had to get up at 6 to get Brian up for school and get on the phone for meetings for work. I'm still waiting for the patch to be released to fix these problems but they hope to get it out today. We ended up with 8 outages in a 24 hour time period!

I was posting a bit ago when the touchpad on my laptop decided to stop working and I had to reboot so I sent before finishing my post. Guess my laptop said it had been up far too long without a reboot! And now I"ve got to go to a meeting so I can't get to everyone.

Ruth - I love the idea that John has.

charolastra00 - My DH sometimes sets his alarm when I am trying to sleep late on the weekend after working all night. He sleeps through it (and knows he will and doesn't intend to wake up) but it wakes me up and then I am up for the day.

Kim - Yes, sleepytime tea helps me sometimes. I normally sleep okay but if I'm up working late it can be hard to get to sleep.

cat - I'm sorry to hear about your friend's daughter.

cottage - I need some of that willpower dust myself. I am down a little but my clothes feel a bit tight and some of my choices have not been the best. It is hard to eat right when I have very little time but that is no excuse.

KO - You are awesome! That is so impressive. I replied to your questions on the pork & pepper salad.

schmoodle - Glad you like the pork & pepper salad. I love the taste of the cabbage and red onion cooked with the balsamic dressing on it! I do that as a side sometimes even when I'm not fixing pork. YUM!

Laurie - I know I get frustrated that I have put back on some weight and am so slow to lose it but even a half pound a week is the right direction.

Hi, pacer!

I'm on a break and just have to tell you all what happened to me.
I had my last class all settled at their computers and they were just working away. I walked over to my desk for a sip of water. I keep a big green glass of water at my desk all day long. I picked up the glass, got it to my lips, then looked down to see a BIG lizard drowning in the glass. He as on his back, legs barely "swimming" with his tail curled out the top of the glass...ewwwww! Luckily I didn't throw it up in the air...ewwww again! I took the glass outside and threw it in the grass. Thought the poor lizard was a gonner...but a couple of minutes later, it seem to have recovered. I really didn't want protein that bad.
