I have an electric stove top burners. When I clean it I remove the burners and clean the metal bowl underneath it. However, I've noticed its really hard to clean the burnt on oil that has developed. I've tried scrubbing with the heavy duty scrubber-sponge and soap and water, I tried soaking it. Nothing seems to be cleaning this stuff off.

Does anyone know of a product or anything else I can use to clean this off for good?

SOS pads are the best thing you can use. Although eventually those won't work anymore and then it's time to buy new pans. You can get new ones fairly cheap at Walmart. However, there they might now fit your stove. That was my problem and I was getting upset, but then my wonderful boyfriend saw some on the back of the maintenance guys truck and got me four brand new shiny ones. The secret now is to keep those baby clean more often.

Cover your pans with tin foil once you have cleaned them. that way you will only have to replace the foil and your pans will not get dirty.

I need to clean my electric oven, too. My former landlord said to use oven cleaner. Of course it's not the healthiest thing to have in the air so do it with open windows/ventilation on a nice day. If it's the detachable metal bowls, she said to spray them with oven cleaner and stick them in a paper bag and let them sit for up to 8 hours.

What brand of oven cleaner do you all recomend I use?? My main problem is the burn oil stains on them. I will most definitely use the tin foil once I've cleaned my metal bowls, I wish I would have thought of that sooner>

Oven cleaner for sure. Take the bowls outside, put them on a whole bunch of newspapers, and spray the heck out of them with any heavy-duty spray or pump oven cleaner. The brand doesn't matter. Use GLOVES!

As for the foil, they actually sell foil pan inserts for those burner pans.

I've gone to a glasstop now and I LOVE it. You have to keep it clean, but it's easy to clean. Nothing baked on down in any hard to reach spots like with gas or electric. If anything spills over, it's all on a flat surface.
