Need Salt

  • Today I have been craving salt. I had a pickle and that's plenty there, so I've been trying to hold off on having more. I think it's related to my drinking too much water. It's been sooooooooooooooooooooo hot (we're buying a new ac on Monday) and I have been sucking down water. I am up to 128oz so far today. I'm sweating it out, so I figure I'm losing salt and my body wants it back. I'm trapped without transportation for a couple more hours, but when DH gets back from class I am going to buy a gatorade and see if that helps.

    Of course it might be TOM. I'm peri-menopausal, so sometimes I have symptoms without a period and sometimes I get one. It's been 3 months, so that's also a possibility.

    I'm just glad there are no chips in the house right now.
  • Hang in there, Stacey..Hoping the salt craving will hold off by the time you get your gatorade. Doing wonderful on water intake!
  • When you sweat a lot you definitely need salt. One thing that helps me with the salty crunchy cravings are 100-calorie bags of popcorn. Way better than chips!
  • Thanks for the support and letting me complain. Hard to eat when I'm typing.

    I ended up having some cherry tomatoes before DH got home and then got a gatorade. That seems to have helped a lot. I'll be more careful to replace electrolytes when I'm sweating so much from now on.
