Hi everyone, This forum is just what I have been looking for. I started on the beach two years ago and was down to 232 at my lowest. Then, I stopped following the program and started a ton of rationalizing, not watching portions, mindless eating, etc. So, now I am back on and finally writing down everything I eat. My blood pressure is borderline high, and I am close to having my doctor put me on meds. So, I am looking for support. My husband is no help, he has great metabolism and has always been skinny. Of course, being 40 is starting to catch up. Anyway, I am looking forward to communicating with all of you that are in the same boat. Barb
Hi Barb and welcome! I followed SBD on my own for a short time a year ago and couldn't stay on, although I really liked the plan. This forum has been a great source of information and support for me this time around. I'm sure I would have fallen off again by now, but these guys will keep you honest and have lots of advice for any issue.
Hi, Barb! I've been on the beach for years myself and got down at one point to 139 and then crept up to 157 by cheating too much. I've gone back on phase 1 and am down 2 pounds in the last few days so I know it will work for you. I had gone from 3 blood pressure meds down to none and am back on one. It is tougher in your 40's.
My Dh needs to lose a lot of weight but won't follow the program although he will eat the meals I fix. I have asked him to keep snacks that would tempt me hidden but I allow him to keep the ones that don't tempt me out in the open.
Welcome to our group! You will find lots of support here.
I've been on the Beach since June 9. I lost 6 pounds on Phase 1 but have been struggling on Phase 2 because it seems like every carb triggers cravings for me. Plus I'm an emotional eater and emotions have been a problem lately with selling a house, buying a house, working overtime, working different shifts and basically just being a menopausal woman. I'll be going back to Phase 1 for a while, so we'll probably see each other on that thread.
Everyone is great here and I couldn't do as well as I have done without the support of my fellow beach babes. Glad to have you join us!
