  • WELCOME! We're a group taking the journey to become "featherweights"! Please feel free to join us as we transform from Hummers to Hummingbirds! JOLLY MOLLY & I have started this thread to keep ourselves accountable in our weightloss journey. This is the first time ever that I've been totally honest in posting my weight stats. I joined 3FC's way back in 1999, lost the weight back then but unfortunately, gained it all back and then some! It's not 3FC's fault for me gaining the weight back, just mine. I didn't stay accountable on my weightloss journey, stopped posting at 3FC's and in time gained all the weight back. It's going to be different this time, as I plan to stay accountable forever! Please help us to stay on track, the more the merrier! We look forward to meeting and working with all of you on this frustrating journey!

  • JOLLY MOLLY and freckles!

    Good luck to everyone!

    Jay
  • I agree with you freckles....i may have to continue posting here forever because last time i stopped posting, i gained 7 of my 33 i had lost. Finally dropped that 7 and a few more. I won't consider myself a "featherweight" until i only have about 10 pounds to lose...and that might not be until i reach my 130 goal and decide if i want to drop a few more. I have been over to the featherweights section and liked it though.
  • I had a message this morning re: your thread. I am interested in joining this - I think it will help me in my LONG journey.

    Thanks!!
    Jane
  • Hi everyone!
Thanks for starting the new thread. I've been doing so great this week with calorie counting and exercise, I'm actually looking forward to getting on the scale tomorrow morning!

I too had a significant weight loss in the past (5 years ago, 40 lbs) and have gained it all back plus 10 lbs! But between 3FC and writing in my 3FC blog every day, I hope to stay on track for good this time!
  • What a cool name (I was attracted to the Hummingbird part -- my favourite bird). I agree that to be successful we need to be accountable to ourselves and to a place like 3FC. Mind if I join??

    Joanne
  • Hi friends! I'd like to join too...but I will confess that I'm not always the most consistent poster, LOL.

I'm Michelle, 31 yr old nurse, wife and mother of two (Robert is 7 and Rachel is 3)...I live in NE Ohio, it's HOT here! I am coming off an ankle injury so I have been WAY off the wagon diet-wise. Basically I laid around the house popping pain pills and eating off the hook. Well doc says I can make short trips without my "boot" so I'm thinking I better start my walking up again.

I weigh 236 now....I have seen the sights of 215 but I'd say when I broke my ankle I was around 225 or so. So gaining 11 pounds in the 5 weeks I've been off my feet isn't so bad. I guess.

I work midnight shifts at the hospital, 7p-7a so that often throws a wrench into my workout schedule, and again, why I'm not always an every-day poster. I usually scan the posts at night if I'm caught up and on my days off, I usually keep up reading, but fall behind posting. Especially on personals!

Workout-wise, I consider myself a bit of a gym-rat. I'm not much of an outdoorsy kind of girl, though I like to walk and take the kids to the park, etc. I miss the gym, I'd be happy to get my routine back there.

Well it's nice to meet you all, I think I'll take the kids swimming today. I work tonight and Friday night. Can't wait to get to know you all better!

    GO CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!
  • I'm in!
I'm with you guys! I can't even imagine myself as a hummingbird. I've been a hummer my whole entire life! But with determination... I guess anything's possible.

  • Count me in!! I've lost and gained weight too many times to mention them all here but in 2005/2006 this 3FC site was a very successful tool with my weight loss as far as accountibility and support went. Out of the 75 lbs I lost I have gained back 40.

Those 40 are coming off, starting today. I count calories and bike at least 30 miles a week. Right now I'm sitting at a tight 14 and am aiming to be back into the size 10's that I was wearing at this time last year. Let's go ladies!!!!
  • Wow!

I didn't expect to see so many posts here! (I'm not complaining though) It may be difficult to answer you all individually, but I'll try & do my best! Jay: I left you a PM. I'm confused on where to post here! Thanks for your warm welcome! Lumifan4ever: Thanks for your post. Do you think we will do ok with our thread here? Let me know what you think. Jane: Welcome back! I'm so glad that you want to be a part of our thread! AnneA: You're so right about staying on track! Just think, if we would have kept the weight off, we could be sitting so well right now! Joanne: You're more than welcome here! The Hummingbird was one of my Mom's favorite birds. She passed away 2/27//07 and everytime I see a Hummingbird, or something with a Hummingbird on it, I think of her! I guess you can say that this thread name is kind of like a memorial/dedication to her. Michelle: Welcome, post when you find the time! So sorry to hear about your ankle and so glad to hear that it's finally starting to improve. Perhaps instead of walking, you should swim? Just a suggestion-I wouldn't want you to injure it all over again! Inadream: Welcome, Let's work together on becoming Hummingbirds!
Getncontrol: We'll count you in too! I'm trying to get back into my 14's from 6 years ago! A size 10 I'll really have to work on!

Well, hopefully I've responded to you all. If not, please forgive me! One more thing and then I have to go. Has anyone read the book: Chicken Soup for the Dieter's Soul? I have it and it really helps me stay in control just reading the mini stories. Pick one up or borrow one from a friend or the library if you get a chance. Well, I have to go now. I'll post to you all later. If not individually, as a group. TTFN!
  • Hello everyone!

Well, today marks day 1 of week 2 for me and I'm down 3 pounds. Not too bad. I think I really have to stay focused on the long term goal and taking it slow.

I hope you all have a great weekend!
  • Hi Molly,
I also went down 3 lbs this week. I think it's because I got serious about my calorie counting and starting doing the treadmill 30 minutes each day. I know from experience that the weight loss will slow down to about 1lb a week, but that's ok as long as it keeps going down and not back up, I'm happy!
  • Good morning. I started on the 7th at 264.8 - (I rounded up to 265). Yesterday after I worked out I was 259.4, but I have to go with my pre- workout weight which is 260.8. So I have lost 4 pounds at the start of my diet. I want to try to aim for two pounds a week for at least a few months - to that end I am trying to get my excercise up to 2 hrs a day.
  • Hi Jackie thank you so much for the kind welcome -- my timing sucks I am off on vacation for the next 10 days. Figures LOL find another great group and then I leave -- doubt there will be any internet access. So tawk amongst yourselves -- have fun and I will catch up when I get back from the Oregon Coast (on of my favourite destinations -- well drivable destinations LOL)

    Happy Humming everyone!!!!
  • So far so good today. I'm well within my calorie range and still feeling strong.

What kind of plans is everyone doing?
