  • Another beautiful day is on tap! It's so nice to be able to open the windows and get a nice fresh breeze going through the house. I have an early hairdresser's appointment for a cut and color, and the rest of the day will be busy taking the girls to their dance and piano lessons. Jake is planning to grill up some boneless pork chops on the BBQ for supper tonight, and I'm going to make a big salad to go along with it. Maybe it'll be warm enough to eat our supper al fresco tonight!
  • Looks like today is going to be nice here too..Lots of work to do..busy busy day.

My new "workout" machine got here yesterday evening...a reel lawnmower!
It is not hard to push at all, but man, it's cardio on wheels. I told my husband that I'm going to try to cut the grass about 3 times a week very early in the morning before the heat is stiffling. Supposedly cutting the grass with a reel lawnmower burns 400 calories an hour for women and 500 for men. You have to walk at a steady fast pace in order for it to cut well. The neighbors will probably think I'm nuts, but I'll have the most manicured lawn on the street and it's a great workout without having to leave the house.
  • Cottage - Enjoy the weather, dinner outside sounds great!

Femmecreole - You are a very brave woman, somehow I think the thought of hiking up a mountain seems less scary than mowing the lawn three times a week! Good for you!

Me, I am back to work this morning and my biggest challenge will be to stay away from the junk at the office. I generally don't have a problem with it so I am not too worried. Going to bring a good salad for lunch with some salmon I steamed last night, and some decent snacks, maybe a cheese string and some celery with hummus.... and lots of water! You know I got a bad headache yesterday, and somehow I have a feeling it is related to the fact that I had been taking all that cold medecine and losenges (full of sugar) and then I stopped the meds yesterday. Hmmm.... Sometimes I think its amazing the extent to which our bodies are affected by what we put in them.

  • Good morning, Cottage and FemmeCreole! You two sound nice and perky.

Cottage, what time for dinner? I've not BBQed yet this year but may do it soon.

FemmeCreole, funny but I was considering getting a reel mower too - good exercise, quiet and environmentally correct. However, I have too much grass for that so will have to stick with Eric and the riding mower.

It's glorious here and I'm a little ticked that I slept so "late". (Six is late for us hicks. ) Of course, I didn't hit the sheets until midnight and the Girls waited up for me so.... The concert was great and I returned Claire's husband safely. Too bad I like her so much!

This morning I have two friends coming to get my Nordic Track. I know I will never use it again with the bum knees so David and Pauline may as well have it. He has a heart condition and MUST exercise. It's sort of sad to see it go but I never used it much although Harry did. Sheesh! Got rid of the boat and motor on Sunday and now this! It sure gets the barn cleaned out though. However, I'm suffering separation anxiety.

It's really nice not to have construction going on around here this week. Kevin is working on a cottage job but will be back Saturday to do the porch roof. Next week will be a horror show with him here and the kitchen reno guys. The Girls are going to the kennel for the week and I may have to join them.

Time to finish cranking up my day.
  • Hey, Ruthie, just pack your bags and come on over til the reno's done! Doggage is welcome, too. Funny about those Nordic Tracks, I tried to sell mine at a yard sale several years ago but no takers. I couldn't even give it away. Jake finally hauled it out for the trash guys to take. I used it a lot when I first got it, but boredom set in very quickly! I prefer do my workout at the gym where I can socialize at the same time!

femmecreole, I think that's a great idea to use the reel mower for exercise, you're getting two things accomplished at the same time!

freshorangina, you must have really been sick! Are you feeling much better now? Sounds like you're on track, packing a good lunch and snacks for your day. Have a good one!
  • Top o' the morn ta ya lassies! (I dunno I'm feelin a bit Irish this mornin )

Femme: A reel lawn mower will give you a great work out! Smart way to get in some good cardio and have a fabu lawn !!

Cottage: Hopefully the weather has turned to spring fer good ! Windows wide open with a breeze coming through the house - deeeelightful! Dinner sounds delish, what time should I be there?

Fresh: here's some fer ya! Yer lunch sounds so healthy and satisfying a doubt you'll need the dust!

Ruth: Kennel fer a week at this point sounds like a good idear!!! or maybe a spa !Just think your "junque" is all going to good homes and grateful people!

Well I am just thrilled to bits! I had my peepers checked and the prescription stays the same... It hasnt changed in bout 10 years ..but the big news is that they make these bifocal contact lenses. I'm trying them out for a week... so far what a pleasure to be able to read things up close or at normal distance...and I dont have to wear glasses I was getting so tired of taking them on and off on off

Ok time fer more cawfee and to get on with my day!
  • Goodness gracious!! A whole lotta peeps up early today.

It's a beautiful, if somewhat wet, morning. The girls are cooperative, and I'm not rushing around at the last minute. Just wanted to pop in for a quick howdy before we head off for the day.

"See" y'all later! Hope your Tuesday is full of grand adventures (or at least somewhat exciting and/or productive )
  • [QUOTE=Schatzi;1686063Well I am just thrilled to bits! I had my peepers checked and the prescription stays the same... It hasnt changed in bout 10 years ..but the big news is that they make these bifocal contact lenses. [/QUOTE]

You are going to love them. I've been wearing them for about 3 years. I hated bifocals..they made me dizzy and aggrivated the tar out of me. It is so nice to be able to see everything without changing glasses..and trying to find them! I have a bad habit of laying glasses down wherever I happen to be and I refuse to get those "old lady" strings around my neck!
  • Good Morning Chicks,

Cottage: What a lovely day you have planned! Dinner sounds really yummy. I need to get a grill soon. We left ours in Pittsburgh when we moved and haven't gotten one yet.

FemmeCreole: Wow! A push mower...I have always wondered about one of those. I think my yard is too big to tackle that, but let us know what it's like

Carey: Lunch sounds delicious! You can do this...just get past the next couple of days and it will be a cinch.

Ruth: I wanna go to the kennel too. I bet that would be fun!

Jetsetter: Sounds like you have a nice calm morning going...I hope the rest of your day is nice and calm...

Schatzi: Congrats on the bifocal contacts...that is amazing. I hope you like them.

My day is one of those days that hopefully will fly. I have Alumni Advisory Council meetings this evening, so it is a long day. I worked out yesterday (legs) and I am really stiff and sore. I am wearing heels, but not really. I keep taking them off because my calves scream when I walk in them. Oh well, no pain, no gain I weigh in at WW this evening so hopefully I will see some loss. I feel really swollen right now from the exercise and I should be surfin' the crimson wave, but it hasn't rolled in yet!

Have a lovely day my friends!
  • Hope you get to surf soon - it's the waiting that's the hard part. I vaguely remember it back in the last century.
  • Good morning, Beach Friends!

Just a quick note to touch base and let you know that I'm still here and doing well. We signed a contract Friday to sell our house and we made an offer on a house in GA that was accepted. We close on our current house on the 30th and on the new house in GA on the 31st. This has been quite a whirlwind and its not over yet! We're quite excited.... and just a bit overwhelmed. I plan on spending some time here on 3FC this evening and will share more.

Hope everyone has a great on-plan day!
  • Good Tuesday morning, chickadees!

Cottage: Dinner does sound delish! Have fun at the hairdresser -- I think there's no better way to be pampered!

Femme: I'd love to know how that new lawnmower works out for you. We just bought a gas one on Saturday, but our back yard is HUGE! I think a real one would work on the front!

Ruth: Glad you're having a quiet week, but I'm sure you're ready to see all of those changes. It's so funny that your sleeping "late" is my getting up early!

Fresh: I know what you mean! Work is sometimes the hardest place to stay OP. You can do this -- your delish lunch should tide you over - it sounds wonderful.

Schatzi: What great news on your peepers! My dad wears the bifocal contacts and LOVES them -- hope they work out as well for you!

Jet: Hope you and the girls have a great day!

Sunny: I hate doing WI's when Aunt Flow is here -- good luck! WTG working out!

GirlyGirl: WTG on selling the house -- and on finding a new one! I bet you're excited to move on to this new chapter in your life! Congrats!!

ME: Things are going pretty well here. Had to take the little furbaby for an emergency vet visit after work yesterday. Seems he strained his back (which is common for really active dachshunds). Doc gave him a cortisone shot and guess what -- he was allergic to it! Poor thing! His litttle muzzle swelled up and we had to give him a Benadryl for it. He seems fine now and is at the vet with DH getting x-rays done. Hope he's fine!

Got up at 6 am - the earliest my body will let me rise - and did 3 miles of WATP. It felt so good and I feel so energized. I'm hoping it lasts all day. 3 O'clock rolls around and I'm pooped! Hope everyone has a great day and here's to eating the SB way!

    ~Kim
  • Hi everyone! Hectic morning here...the girls are fighting nonstop and I have to work in 3 hours. I have a feeling the rest of the day is going to go about the same. Check in with you all tomorrow. Hope everyone's day is shaping up well.
  • Good afternoon! Another beautiful day here. Went out for a walk with a couple friends ... we're in a new neighborhood and all are looking for landscaping ideas. Between that and conversation the time passes really quickly. So I've been exercising regularly but I'm falling into my old habit of getting distracted and not eating regularly. I know, bad Caryn! If I don't eat and eat the right foods the plan doesn't work. I'm will keep a much closer eye on that.

I finished a project for work this morning, I'm working on marketing for a new project I'm starting and STILL need to start painting the kids' rooms. (That's been on my to-do list for weeks now! )

Well, I'm off to have a late lunch. Enjoy the day!
