Thin4Life - Week of May 7/07

  • Where did the weekend go?

DH went to Cincinnati and ran the Flying Pig Marathon. He said it was well-organized and a fun race. Unfortunately, he did not do as well. His knee was hurting so he walked much of it. He did finish at 5:33, so he was happy for that.

I went to a play on Friday night, "Falsettos." It was all right; I think the cast needed a few more rehearsals. Actually, I later heard that some of the cast members had just joined as others had quit.

On Saturday I played in a golf tournament. It was a glorious day on the golf course. The sun was out and the birds was singing--aaah! My team finished at par, which was fine.

After the tournament I went to our town annual Founder's Day celebration. That was fun. Then later in the evening there was a street party with a great rock-and-roll band. Yes, I danced in the street. This band was fantastic--and they're all high schoolers. They played everything from Thorogood to U2 to Chuck Barry to Rush. Unbelievable.

On Sunday I went shopping. I found a few things for DH and some stuff for the house. Had horrible storms here. Today it is so gusty out--30 mph winds.

I got enough courage to get on the scale today because I thought I was going to WI. Well...I just got back to my last WI poundage, so I'm not going. That was not a good number to begin with. OK, this week, I'm going to stay OP.

    How is everyone else?
  • Good morning!

Our weather here has been really nice--sunny and in the 60's; today we may even reach the mid 70's which would be really nice. My allergies/sinuses are going crazy; started out with the scratchy throat then went into the nasal area...grrr. I don't feel bad just sound all plugged up!

I haven't been near the scale since I left for FL but I can tell you my clothes feel okay. It's hard to tell where I'm exactly at and I'm hoping with not feeling good that my weight isn't up!

I had a busy weekend too--DS #1 graduated from college on Saturday. I am SO proud of him. He graduated with honors and his last semester he got the 4.0 he worked so hard for. He's taking a 2-week summer course in preparation for his certification. Today they're meeting with another minister and hopefully they'll get everything ironed out. Melissa got a new job and it's definitely a much better one both in pay and in what she'll be responsible for. I'm so happy for her! Wedding plans are in full swing so that's the next big thing for us.

I need to start looking for a dress for the wedding and I'm thinking it's going to mean a trip out of town for that since the stores here are limited.

I'm working on posting pictures on the blog I created here on 3FC...I hope it works. As soon as they're up I'll let you know. I don't feel like I should have a child who has graduated from college and is getting married...how did this happen??!!

Hi to Lala, Susan, Pam, Karynlee I hope you all are okay since we haven't heard from you in a bit!
  • Melissa, glad your weather has improved. Congrats to DS#1. You'll be the best-looking mother of the groom.
  • Good morning!

It's been a little crazy here but things are this time of year. The orientation process has started so we're getting a lot of phone calls.

I went to my meeting yesterday and was pleasantly surprised...I was down 1.2# since my last weigh in.

I'm battling allergies here since everything is popping out. My lilac bush is loaded and they smell wonderful. I'll catch up more later.

    Where is everyone???
  • Melissa, Congrats to you for the loss. I don't even want to go to my WI. I'm shooting for MOnday. I've been eating everything in sight. Not sure what is going on with me.

Sorry about your allergies; many people here are suffering, too. Add to that the smoke from the fires--not pleasant.

I really don't know where everyone has gone. We haven't heard from Pam, lala, and Karynlee in a great while. Susan, I think, posted last week.

I must tell you my slip story. I wanted to buy a new short slip as mine has seen better days. I went to Macy's and walked all around the intimates department. Finally, I saw a salesperson and asked her where they had the slips? She looked at me as if I had 3 heads. She said: "We haven't carried slips for about a year. No one wears them any more. Most women are buying these short pants." So, I'm wondering, what do women wear? If I wear a sheer skirt, I like to have a slip. Am I old-fashioned?
  • Lisa: I understand what you're saying about eating everything. My taste has been a little off with my allergies so nothing really tastes that great. You're not old-fashioned when it comes to slips--I wear them. I've found them at Target and K-Mart. Can't remember if I've seen them at Wal-Mart or not but I don't generally wear skirts/dresses without one unless they're lined. I can't understand the women that don't wear them and you can see right through their skirts!

My friend and I went out for a nice, long walk at noon. It felt good to be outside!

I'm working at WW tonight at a travel center so it's a late dinner for me. I have a snack here at work to eat before I leave so I won't be starving when I'm done.
  • Melissa, I guess I'll have to check out slips at KMart.

"I'm working at WW tonight at a travel center..." What is a Travel Center?

Tomorrow's my off Friday, so I hope you have a good weekend. I hope to get some golf in and go see a movie.
