How will you reward yourself?

  • I've decided to give myself a little reward for every 10 lbs I lose and a BIG one for every 20 lbs I lose. I know that I'm going to go get a mani/pedi for my first 10 lbs and that my reward for my last 20 lbs will be a huge shopping spree, but I'm stumped on the ones in between.

So, are you rewarding yourself for meeting weight goals? If so, what are some of your goals?

    Thanks for the ideas!!
  • I hadn't really thought about rewards...I just like feeling better and looking better. I guess that is my reward.

  • I feel the same way, but I feel like, with a lot to lose, I don't always notice that first 10 lbs. Other people sometimes do, but it takes a lot of weight leaving the body for me to see the reward in it.

I just like something to look forward to at the end of 10 lbs instead of just saying "ok" and moving on to the next 10.
  • Oh no, no, no. I MUST have rewards. Previously this meant cake- even if I was dieting and was celebrating losing (i was losing so I could afford to celebrate-right?) But a pedicure is neccessary- it's flip flop season 'round here. so I think I will get one just for sticking to phase 1 for 14 day (lord, let me get there!)
Also, I am going to splurge if I get my weight down before Halloween. My family always spends Halloween at disney and there is a costume party and this year we (about 12 of us) are going to dress up in 1920's-30's era gangster/ flapper costumes and I am going to make a great beaded dress w/ a drop waist and plunging back!!! I can't wait- usually I thrift shop for clearance material and goodwill finds but I am going to look HOT this year!!!
    ...t.
  • hopefully my rewards will be needing some new smaller clothes!!!
  • AMEN, sister!
  • Good morning! I am going to treat myself to some tanning I think. I have never gone before, but I think it will just help me feel better ( GIRLS I AM A WHITEEEEE) I always get tan on the exposed areas in the summer...but I have NEVER had a tan BUTT! lol...or well anything that clothes covers! Sorry if that was toooo much info!

  • Getting a facial. I do this about every six weeks for sticking with it (not necesarily at a specific pound). If my body looks better I feel my face should as well! And I feel so darn pampered during and after!

  • That's a great idea! The local spa closed down, but I think there's one about 40 minutes away...I'll have to look into it!
  • I like to reward myself with accessories. The first time I lost 20 pounds I brought a new coach bag. Of course, now that I gained all of the weight back and need to start loosing again I still have that pretty coach bag but now instead of representing a triumph it mocks me with its pretty leather handle and beautiful workmanship.
No really, rewarding yourself is a good thing especially if it motivates you. When I finish p1 of sb I plan on getting a new pair of walking shoes. Of course, I do need a new pair but now I can splurge a little and get something I really want instead of something on sale.
  • I was thinking of doing the same thing...For every 10 lbs something for myself. First 10 llbs going to have my hair trimed and highlighted. Each 10 lbs gives me time to think what I what next.
  • A trip to the spa sounds heavenly. Also, I have so many clothes in my closet that I haven't been able to wear for such a long time (and some w/the tags still on them!) it will be like a shopping spree. I can't wait!!
  • What a fabulous thread topic! Rewards are great motivators, and if you used to use food as a means of reward, it can be helpful to retrain your brain to break that association.

    Here are some random ideas:

    - a new CD, DVD or book

    - for larger milestones, a gadget that would perhaps enhance your new lifestyle, for example: pedometer, heart rate monitor, MP3 player, etc.

    - a massage or other spa treatment

    - when you drop sizes, go to a store and try on a bunch of clothes, just to enjoy fitting into a smaller size and seeing how good you look

OK, that's all I can think of at this time of night!
  • Hey LitChick I see that you're from Atlanta do you have any suggestions on where to go for spa treatment? I'm new to GA (husband's stationed at FT Gordon) and have been dying for a massage. I don't mind driving if it's a good place.
  • Shoes... The fabulous, impractical kind.
