Smile New Here......Hoping to get healthy

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. I've stuggled with weight all my life. At 5" I'm now at my highest weight of 205lbs, I feel sluggish and tired, out of breath and fast approaching 42 years old. My goal is to reach 125lbs. I want to be healthy. I have an ellpitical machine which I used today. I used to go to the gym and work out all the time, my lowest weight was 103, I felt I was way too thin then. As I've gotten older, I find it harder to get into the grove of working out. Does anyone else struggle with this? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to making new friends and getting healty!

I know how you feel. I have recently escaped my peak weight by 10 pounds lol..But I still have a long road ahead of me. My lowest weight at this height was about 125..and too me I looked to thin..I am a naturally larger boned person, and I know my target weight of 150 will be just fine if/when I make it there.

Excercise..I used to dread the word before I started back working out. I hated it. But then it gradually became part of my daily routine and now I feel bad if I don't go do it! I guess it just takes time..Because when I first got back into it I felt so fat and useless..But the more I excercised the more I realized I could make a change in my life and not be the fat girl anymore. I just have to remember the positive effects I will get from excercise to stay motivated. I think it all starts with feeling better about yourself!

It's wonderful you have an elliptical! I would LOVE to have one of those at my house, as it is my favorite cardio workout. Just turn on some good music and get after it LOL.

Good luck with your journey, and I know you will get tons of positive feedback and support. These gals (and guys) are great.

Thanks so much for the encouragment! Thats one of the reasons I joined this site, to be able to talk with others who are going through the same thing, it helps seeing the weight tracker, helps to keep me on track and to be able to see how great everyone is doing. Good Luck to you, you are a beautiful girl. I'm looking forward to being healthy for my daughter, she's in 6th grade and plays alot of sports, would be great to be able kick a soccer ball around with her. Thanks again!

Hi there... I'm new here too. I'm also trying to get healthy and start an exercise routine. I have an elipitcal but I can't use it right now because I'm only a couple of weeks post-op from a hysterectomy. So, I walk thirty minutes a day. It's kinda boring but yesterday I really got into it as I remembered to bring my Ipod and just got carried away listening to good music! I love the ticker and being able to track my weight. Hope that I make a lot more progress over the next few months. Nice meeting you.

Hi Miette..glad to meet you! I know, I seem to be able to stay on the eliptical longer when I play Cd's. I hoping to get on for 30 or more minutes after work today. I see you are from Europe, my husband is from Ireland, I noticed first from the kg instead of Lbs, thats how he does it also, or he sometimes says stones! :-) Hope you're recovering well from your surgery.

Yes the ticker is awesome! It's so nice to actually see that everyday..even if it just goes down a pound or two a week, you can still see the fruits of your labor and feel proud of it.

AND FitDay..wow..that has totally changed my outlook on eating. I had never heard of it before I came here. Since I spend alot of time on the computer, it is a great tool to keep track of those pesky calories.

Good luck girls! All you need is a positive attitude and you're on your way

Default Hi! I know how you feel!!!

Hi! I was new here last spring and have not kept up very well with my visits. I still need to get to know the site, so I FEEL new also! I am pretty good about working out, over all, but I am a terrible eater. I can do well for a period of time, but then completely fall off into "carbland" for a few weeks! I don't know why I do it to myself!! Then, of course, I feel horrible. It would be great to stay in contact throughout our journey----I battle it every day. I am a pretty strong person, so I am embarrassed by my constant issues with weight. I feel like I should have the mindset needed to get it under my control---being in my late 30's, its about time, don't you think??!! Good to meet you.

Would love to keep in contact Taffer, I'll be 42 in July, so you're never to late to get things under control! :-) Looks like you've done great so far.
