Default Any "Older" Single Moms Out There?

Hi, Everybody! I just found this site, while I was looking for Fat Smash Diet info! I've been poking around a little bit, and hope to explore more when I have a chance.

I'm 46 years old, and a single Mom of a lovely 4 year old! I'm trying to lose 80 pounds, but can't find a diet plan that can accommodate (sp?) both my needs and the nutrtional needs of my little one. Also, I am extremely limited financially; trying to buy two sets of food is just not possible. I really need to lose this weight; since the birth of my daughter, I am really afraid of severe weight-related health problems.

Is there anyone out there who has experience with this situation (jeez, I kind of hope not!), or can offer some solutions? I'm looking forward to making new friends here, and welcome any and all support! Thanks!

Default Me To

Hi, I need to lose at least 80 pounds. I found this website in Oprah's magazine. It was an article about weight loss blogging. I hope to find support on this site as well.

Good Luck to you!

I'm trying to lose that amount of weight also and have just started. I too am a single mom of 3. and there's NO WAY I can buy seperate meals. My kids are 17, 15, and 7. I have so far just really been restricting my calorie intake...haven't started excersising yet as we got SNOW last night. I plan on walking alot of this right off this summer!

Default How Are You Doing It?

I completely agree with you, Big Jewel! I am 46 years old, my daughter just turned 4! That would mean 2 seperate meals at almost every meal time! Fortunately, she eats fruits and veggies, chicken and turkey, etc. (the "good" stuff), but she also like the usual stuff -- hot dogs, mac and cheese, etc. And when you only have the money for one meal, well, you know what's going to win out You have 3 kids -- how do you manage? Unfortunately, I don't receive child support, so I support the two of us on a half-time preschool teacher's salary. I don't have any immediate family or friends who can even watch my Daughter so I can get a one-hour walk in every day. So, I'm looking for at-home exercise routines, and I've just started counting calories. Hopefully, that will start me off on the right foot.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! I'm going to try and follow in your footsteps!

Hi everyone--I'm 41 and have 2 kids. Can certainly relate to the busyness of juggling everyone's needs.

I lost thru WW--it's not cheap to join, but you eat exactly the same food everyone else eats. No need to buy anything special or different (well, more fresh fruits and veggies, but that's all to the good).

Does anyone want to join me in an exercise challenge?

My commitment:
Exercise 4 times this week, 40 mins. each session

Let me know and have a peaceful week.

Hi there! I am a single mom of a 4 year old as well! I can relate to how hard it is to do the separate menu thing and find time to exercise too! I have at least 65 poundss to lose but just had my throid removed and gained 25 pounds in two months post surgery - having a hard time losing til they get my thyroid replacement meds figured out!

Hi Moms! Nice to see you all here! I am 33 years old and don’t have kids so its inspiring for me to see that I still have time for become a mother! Thank you for that! I would like to loose around 80 pounds, maybe to become a mother, I don’t know. At this weight I don’t think I would even try it, its too risky I think.

What are you girls going to do first? I have decided that I will walk to my job and from work - that is half an hour in one way, and one hour a day, 5 days a week. I use a tram or a bus sometimes but now I have decided to walk everyday. I am sure I will have to buy some new shoes

My first mini goal is to loose my double chin as it looks gross. I did not define all the details just started thinking about it so I am sure I will get some ides. Also, I will stop eating as a mad man, especially at work, and will lower junk food and carbas and start to eat more fruits and proteins (cream cheese). That will stop carb cravings.

Hi, All!

Just a quick hello, and thanks for everyone's feedback! I'm glad to know I'm not in this thing alone!

I actually posted a lengthy reply here yesterday, but I think my computer crashed, and it never made it on! I'll write more tomorrow (Wednesday).

Elanajel -- I actually took you up on your challenge; I excercised for 40 minutes today (20 minutes, twice). Thanks for spurring me on!

Have a happy, healthy Wednesday everyone! Let's keep supporting each other!
