Need ideas on good foods to buy from Trader Joes

  • I will be going to Trader Joes sometime this week and need advice on good meals to purchase there for lunch and dinner. Also if anyone has favorite low cal snacks... Thank you..
  • You are looking for full meals? or things for your meails?

Things I buy from Trader Joes:
    Peanut butter
Bread (sometimes, read the labels, they have some decent brands)
    Fresh veggies (sometimes)
Frozen veggies (their three pepper medley is good)
    Frozen fruit
Nonfat plain yogurt (snack idea: put a few pieces of frozen fruit in with nonfat plain yogurt)
Cereal (High fiber O's and Shredded wheat squares)
Dark Chocolate (although I don't suggest that for lunch or dinner)

That is pretty much it for my Trader Joe's items.
  • Well..this is what I got last week

    -Soy Milk
    -Trader Joes' Organic Hummus

    -Frozen Berries
    -Almond Butter
    -Romaine Lettuce
    - I love their Cranberry, Walnut and some cheese Dressing and 70 cal for one tbsp...it is soo tasty
    - Sliced almonds

  • My favorite grocery store! I go there every week!

    La Tortilla Whole Wheat Tortillas
    Pineapple Salsa
    Roasted Garlic Salsa
    Tomato soup - paper box
    Egg whites
    Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
    Fresh parmesan cheese
    Fat free feta
    Light havarti cheese
    light string cheese
    low fat cottage cheese
Fiberful bars - like fruit leather but with fiber added
Nuts - pine nuts, almonds, walnuts.. etc.. all are cheaper here and quite good. I store in the freezer
    Wild Salmon
    Tilapia
    MorningStar Farms Soy Sausage patties
    Dr. Praeger veggie burger patties
    Frozen Artichoke hearts
Frozen edamame - in the pod is best IMHO YUM
    Vegetable potstickers
for snacks - love the pretzel thins

Lots of other stuff that is yummy, but not too figure friendly so I'll refrain from those recommendations
  • Oh yeah, I forgot a couple things they have that are pretty good:

Whole wheat pizza dough (refrigerated section)
    Sushi rolls (refrigerated section).
  • Thank you all so much for all the ideas,am looking forward to going shopping there this week. I was also looking for full meal ideas from there. Thank you...
  • And one more questions what exactly are potstickers? And is it a snack or meal?
  • Potstickers are Chinese dumplings, filled with veggies. Along the lines of ravioli, but the wrapper is much thinner. They are also called gyoza, which is the Japanese name. TJ's has them in the frozen food section.

I usually have them as a side along with chinese chicken salad that I make with a lettuce mix, chicken, mandarin orange slices, edamame and Newman's Light Sesame Ginger dressing.

Oh, you can also buy Gyoza dipping sauce at TJ's. I also get my organic ketchup and jar sauces there. Pizza sauce and spaghetti sauce.

I also like Trader Joe's O's - their version of Cheerios. I could go on and on. The one nearest to me is 100 miles away, so I only make the trip about once a month.
