  • Hi everyone! I'm not sure if I can start a new thread but I thought to make us all accountable for the seven superfoods we are trying to include in our diet daily this would be a good start1 .
I am really trying to follow the seven foods and get healthy(my cholesterol is through the roof), so who's in.
We'll try to keep this thread going all month and see how it goes. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here.
I'll post later on today(haven't eaten yet)
    OK, lets get to it
  • I guess nobody likes my idea but...
....I'm going to post my own seven anyway.
Well, actually I can't post alot, except for
    B-yogurt(sugar-free), blackberries.
and the rest of the day is a write off.
    What about everyone else.
    I'll try bettere tommorrow.
  • I did!

    Natural peanut butter
    Kashi whole grain waffle
    Strawberries
    Romaine
    Blackbean
    Tomatoes
    Orange

    6. about to have some nice dark chocolate!
    7. blueberries
    8. yogurt
    9. green tea
    10. whole grain bread/whole wheat pasta/whole wheat and bran cereal
    11. pulpy orange juice
  • Oooh, lemme see - I'm not 100% familiar with what exactly is a super food, so I shall have to go and check and ammend as necessary....

    pecans yup pecans count
    cranberries yup another sidekick
    prawns not listed - BOO!
    black tea - yup
    soya milk - yup
    turkey - yup
    pear
    yoghurt
ryvita (whoelgrain rye and seeds on mine, so pretty nice!)

    Ooooh so that's 8!!!
  • Ummm I would love to participate in this thread. Does somebody want to actually state what the seven superfoods are? And I could be wrong (yet again) but I thought there were 12 of them.
  • I was going on the superfoods list that's stickied at the top of the forum....

And I just thought the advisable amount was 7 - after all if you ate the same 7 things every day you'd be a bit bored...
  • Super Food (sidekick)

    Blueberries (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries)
    Broccoli
    Beans
    Tea: green or black
    Walnuts (any nuts)
    Soy
    Oranges
    Tomatoes (watermelon)
    Pumpkin (carrots, sweet potato)
    Spinach (leafy greens)
    Salmon (halibut, canned albacore tuna)
    Oats
    Turkey
Whole Grains (brown rice, whole wheat, quinoa, barley)

This is all I can remember from my SuperFoods Rx book. Loaned it to a friend and haven't gotten it back yet. I'll update it when I get it back if no one else has.

  • There are 12 superfoods. Actually more if you count what is in the 2nd book. I think what we're trying to accomplish here is to EAT 7 different ones each day. There is a sticky on this forum that lists all the superfoods and their "cousins."

I'm not posing today--not a good superfood day....
  • On the menu today:

    oatmeal
    strawberry kefir
    almonds
    blueberries
    spinach
    salmon
    tomatoes
    sweet potato

....and I haven't had any dark chocolate in a couple of days, so I'll probably have 1 oz. tonight along with my chai tea
  • Gee, here I was thinking I hadn't done too well today! I'm up to six so far:

    pineapple
    apple
    black beans
    corn
    artichoke
    turkey

And I plan on fish for dinner. I wonder what the restaurant serves with it? I could get up to 10!
  • Friday - March 16 (counting the super foods from both books)

B - 2 whole grain kashi waffles, natural peanut butter on one, cherry butter on the other

S - half carton of strawberries

D - went out for lunch - steamed veggies with soy/ginger sauce (bokchoy, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, tofu, zucchini, onions) over brown rice

S - 1 St. Patrick's day cookie with icing, mug of no sugar added cocoa

    S - orange

S - cut up veggies (carrots, celery, grape tomatoes, cucumber) fat free ranch to dip

D - 2 egg omelette - spinach, onions, garlic, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, a little olive oil, covered in salsa

    Tea
    throughout the day

Close, there are 14 from the first book but oats and whole grains are the same group. The one you are missing is yogurt
  • Oooh, yogurt, thanks Glory. I looooooove yogurt, how could I forget?!
