Anyone out there with difficulties loosing and menopausal and active? Any suggestions??HELP
  • Welcome to 3FC!! I'm menopausal and well used to be active, until back to back injuries last year. But the biggest difference in my life was eating smaller more frequent meals and lifting weights. Do you weight train?
  • Thanks for the advice!! I tend to eat LARGE meals infrequently, and do very little consistant weight training. Do you follow a specific weight program? any suggestions?
  • Ooooooh boy (rubbing my hands together!) I just love turning people on to weights! I have two recommendations.

Our Ladies Who Lift Forum, and the book Body For Life For Women. I like the women's version better than the 'unisex' one. It is super healthy, super realistic, and a great place for the new lifter to start. I've done very little weight lifting over the past few months, and when I start back, I'll probably do a weight routine similar to that to get started back up.

You may also find some good information in the Featherweights forum. It was created just for the lighter chicks, like you!

I think that you'll be amazed at how much lifting weights can do for you. It is very beneficial for strong bones, muscle takes up much less room than fat so you'll actually trim down a bit, contrary to the myth of bulking up, and muscle burns more calories than fat, so you'll automatically burn more calories a day by merely existing.
  • Thanks Jennifer, will explore!!!
