30 Something's: Monday Feb 5th

  • Molly, Happy Birthday!!! (and to your brother too) I didnt receive a call, so I am going to call later today. Like after I go to bed and wake up.

Kristen, Happy Birthday to you as well!!!!

I myself was up .2 lbs, so that is not so good. Of course I didnt journal everything and didn't exersize either. It was sooo cold out and I had absolutely no motivation. It is suppose to be in the single digits all week (not including the wind chill factors) so I think that I will be working the exersize just to keep warm.

Go Colts!!!! I am soo excited, I wanted Peyton Manning to do well!

    Take care all,

    Lisa
  • Hi All,

Happy (belated) birthday to the Molly & Kirsten!

    to MGF (My Girl Friday)!!

OK, that was my burst of energy for the AM...need to get coffee!!
  • Morning all;

Still need to get coffee and go through this weekends posts, but thought I would share an inspirational women's email from my mom.

    Check back in later.

    The One Flaw In Women
By the time the Lord made woman,
He was into his sixth day of working overtime.
    An angel appeared and said,
"Why are you spending so much time on this one?"
And the Lord answered, "Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic,
have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable
and able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
have a lap that can hold four children at one time,
have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart
-and she will do everything with only two hands."

The angel was astounded at the requirements.
    "Only two hands!? No way!
And that's just on the standard model?
That's too much work for one day.
    Wait until tomorrow to finish."

"But I won't," the Lord protested.
"I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart.
She already heals herself when she is sick
AND can work 18 hour days."

The angel moved closer and touched the woman.
"But you have made her so soft, Lord."

"She is soft," the Lord agreed,
"but I have also made her tough.
You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish."

"Will she be able to think?", asked the angel.

    The Lord replied,
"Not only will she be able to think,
she will be able to reason and negotiate."

    The angel then noticed something,
and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek.
"Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.
I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one."

    "That's not a leak,"
    the Lord corrected,
    "that's a tear!"
"What's the tear for?" the angel asked.

The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy,
her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love,
her loneliness, her grief and her pride."
    The angel was impressed.
    "You are a genius, Lord.
    You thought of everything!
    Woman is truly amazing."

    And she is!
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy..
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
    They stand up to injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
    They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
    a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
    can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
    They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.
  • Becky that poem was beautiful.

Welcome mygirlfriday. Feel free to jump right in.

    Lisa
  • Hello & thanks for the warm welcome!
I have been looking for a group that was friendly and encouraging and I think I just might have found it.
I just recently started on my weighloss adventure....however I did get to add a change in my weight this morning. ( I suppose I can thank this cold that I have had since Wednesday of last week) Food don't taste right and then I don't know what I'm really hungry for.
I took today off from work as I didn't feel too hot.
I did enjoy the story and appreciate Becky sharing it with the group~
So today I'm taking it easy on the couch and hope to get to feeling more like my self ( only less of myself ) soon!
    Happy thoughts!!!
    mgf~
  • Welcome MGF!!!

Well its back to work today. Dh is coming back home today. Thankgoodness he was only gone for the weekend. Without having to cook dinner for him I ate junk all weekend. I'm a little scared to see the scale. Well I am hoping for a better week. I hope everyone is having a great day!
  • Missing in Action (or lack there of)
Hi everyone, It's been awhile, at least a week I think...I don't know what happened to me this past week I didn't actually fall off the wagon, I think it ran me over.. So here I am again, I haven't been on the scale for a few days cause I'm too ashamed to see the destruction. I have eaten junk almost every day this week and had a few beers last night while celebrating the colts and the bears...but I am back in business and I need a few kicks in the butt...anyone??

I tried to do some catching up and see I missed some birthdays so Happy Belated Birthday to Molly & Kirsten...
MGF--Welcome and good luck with your journey !!
Becky--thanks for posting the poem, it was wonderful...
And to everyone that I missed, Im sorry
Good luck to everyone...be back tomorrow...

  • hey all. Well weekend was pretty good...except for alcohol. Darn that devil...lol. Couldn't stay away from a few beers this weekend and the darn supper bowl party killed me. I was doing great the rest of the weekend. I even chose scrambled egg whites over egg's benedict (very hard). My food choises were wise until last night. Oh well...back to the grind. I will work off what i gained. Hope everyone is doing well.
    Happy b-day molly and kristen
    welcome mygirlfriday

I think its time to walk the dog (got to work off all this beer LOL)

see ya guys tomorrow...oh btw...keep your fingers crossed. Had an offer on our house we have for sale...we put in a counter offer (too low) so maybe we'll get our house sold. Yea!
  • Thanks for the b-day wishes everyone!

Michelle, I so know what you mean about the beer. I drank too much Friday night.

Lisa, let us know how the phone call goes.

    mygal!

I am back on track. My weekends are so bad. I don't know what happens to me on the weekends. I did walk with mom this morning though. I bought a pedometer and it tracks number of steps, calories burned, and mileage. I'm planning to walk tomorrow too. It is so stinkin cold though! I don't even want to go out at all. LOL

to everyone! Have a great night!
  • Michelle, I think that wagon finished running over you and headed to my house! I haven't exercised once in almost a week. How sad is that? I've been stressing over hubby but that's no excuse I know. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get my arse in gear.
Becky I needed that poem today! How'd you know?
    Welcome MGF!
Gatorgal, hope you sell your house! That would be a great way to start the week!!
