Default kind of new feeling alittle outa sorts

I was once a member last january and i was doing great. My cousin and I were both on the points diet and we were going to the gym 3 times a week and I felt really great. I was losing weight and it felt like not much effort or pain on my part. Then we both just stopped. it is a year later and now I live in small town in Florida. the gym is no longer an option. I have a younger brother who is very verbally abusive about my weight. He was once chubby and now is basicly a body builder he did it by starving himself and now feels he knows everything. my mom is suportative but has been thin all her life and incredibly clueless how to help me. I went shopping today and relaized in 6 months time I have gone up two sizes in my clothing. Im scared of how unhealthy i feel i carry most my weight in my midsection back and arms. I dont even know where to begin with this. My family tries but none of them understand what i am going through I am a6 months away from being 24 and i weight over 300lbs. I am sorry fi this seems like a rant I just dont know even how to start on my own and to make it this time

Hi,
You are just going to love this place!

(Don't worry about your brother. Men lose soooo differently than women. Plus brothers can be cruel )

We started a new thread (again) in the support section if you would like more support. I believe you will fit right in.

Try the link below to take you there.

Have you thought of asking your physician for suggestions? If you have one your are comfortable with, they may have some great ideas and would be able to help you out. Mine had suggested Weight Watchers or a Nutritionist. And, ignore your brother -- this is petty of me -- but I have an older sister who always picked on me about my weight and she is now bigger than I am. You just need to lose it slowly and safely in order to maintain the weight loss, his will probably catch back up with him at some point.

I weighed more than you at one point, so I know how you feel. The best thing you can do is ignore what everyone else has to say and focus on what your body tells you.

There are lots of great support groups around the site, as well as sites for fitness programs and for specific diets. Whatever you need, chances are you can find it here.

If you're very unsure of how to start, I agree that you might be best off consulting a doctor. If that's not an option, maybe try eating normally for a week and logging you calorie intake with a program like FitDay. Then, after a week, you can cut back your calories slowly until you find a range that helps you lose.

Freakybella, welcome back to 3fc!! Your post says that you were counting points before and that that was working for you. Why not dig out that info and start counting again? I understand that the gym is out of reach for you for whatever reason. For me, it's out of reach because I'm not willing to spend the $40 a month on top of my WW fees. That's ok, there are plenty of things you can do with out a gym! You're in Florida? Take a walk! Start slow with just a short 1/2 or 1 mile walk, and as your stamina builds up, increase your distance and speed up your pace. Get a couple of the little 3 to 5 pound handweights that they sell at walmart; you can use these in your room with the door closed and your bratty brother won't even know it. Every little bit helps!
