Here are the main things that you should consider:
chicken breasts
lean hamburger meat
bagged salad
all sorts of veggies
olive oil
natural (unsweetened) applesauce
SF/FF pudding mix
skim milk
brown rice
beans -- either dry pinto or black are my favorites, or canned pinto or black
whole wheat spaghetti
oatmeal (regular, unflavored*)
94% FF popcorn for a snack
If you like tuna, then I suggest for good a lunch the following: tuna (I use Chicken of the Sea light tuna in the pouch), FF Miracle Whip, boiled egg, little bit of relish or grated pickles, chopped onions and celery)
fat-free cheese -- you can put in casseroles, on top of pasta or baked potatoes
Potatoes, either red or white -- both are great baked with a little bit of spray butter and FF cheese
Tomato soup
Diet drinks if you like them
Canned fruit: pineapple, peaches or pears -- look for 100% natural juice
Eggs
Fat-free salad dressing
Fat-free cottage cheese
SF jello
* regular unflavored instant oatmeal is gross, in my opinion. You should get 3-minute oats or if you like and have Maltomeal or grits in your area, that's okay too
I realize this is a ton of stuff and would cost a fortune to stock it all, but you probably don't like ALL of the stuff I listed. I just went thru my usual foods though and listed what I buy.
I would suggest bringing your Food Companion along with you, too. That's what I did the other day. While it took a bit longer and I may have looked odd reading while at the store, it was worth it. I'd get a "Hey! Maybe...!" but then I found out (usually) it was a big fat no. But I was very glad to have it, especially the first Core trip to the store.
I think my favorite snack of the week has been FF/SF banana pudding with sliced bananers in it. With a little dollop of FF Cool Whip (for 1 point). I can't get enough of it! If you like bananas, definitely get some! (Actually, I made another trip to the store to get a couple more boxes of pudding! But shhh... don't tell!)
If you like rice, oatmeal and couscous, you might try quinoa. It is really good. You cook it like rice (but it cooks quicker) and you can use it like rice or eat it as a porridge like oatmeal. I like it, it looks like birdseed raw, but cooked it is chewy and nutty.
Lot's of soups are Core and good for a fast lunch when you don't have time to make things. My favorites are Progresso Lentil and Healthy Choice Split Pea and Ham.
