Goals for the New Year

I'm just wondering what everyone's goals are for the coming year. Whether it's weight loss or something else, I think it's a great time to think about where it is we want to be by this time next year! I sure don't want to be the same as I am now. What about you guys? What are your goals and ambitions (notice I'm not using the word "resolutions!")?

Well besides reaching and maintaining some sort of weight goal, I had a few others. Some are stupid so don't laugh.

I need to stop leaving home without makeup. I have gotten in the habit of putting it on at work, and that's going to stop.

I should take better care of my skin and hair and nails, etc. ... in other words, a little closer attention to my appearance.

I will definitely save more money. Starting with the very next check, a portion is going into savings whether I think I can or not.

I should also keep up with the housework a little better. That is NOT going to be fun but I'll try.

Surely there are more things, but these are what I had already listed.

Great goals!

Some of mine (I'm sure I'll be adding more later):
*Buy a home (of couse other goals, like saving money, come before this one)
*Lose 30 pounds
*Get pregnant :D
*Really incorporate exercise into my weekly schedule (I've never really achieved this)
*Be more mindful of how I spend my time

Just a few to get started!

fantastic goals here.

other than weighing 150 lbs, mine are archery related. surprise! surprise!

lanny bassham suggests that we write our goal in present tense--and that we write them daily. he says one of two things will happen. we will either reach our goals or we will quit writing them down.

why should we write them down daily? our subconscious will be imprinted to believe. of course, we also have to work hard to achieve those goals. wishing won't do it for us. (darn!)

i have been writing my archery goals for 2006 daily since march 22 and plan to keep writing them till the 2006 indoor archery season is over and i've achieved my goals. that will be late march 2006.

i need to be as dedicated with my weightloss goals as well. i will make me a chart and start writing them daily, too, starting today.

Sandra can you tell us more about how you list/keep track of these goals?

Katpo 12-29-2005 04:41 PM

Have you guys seen this? It's a printable progress chart.

Thanks Kathy. That's great.

Wearing makeup out of the house was my resolution last year! I didn't really do that well. I don't think I ever put any on in the house, and I managed to get eyeliner on in the car about 50 times. :o

Talk about stupid ones? I really want to get my pilot's license this year. I've had all of the books and study guides and maps and air speed charts for two years. And I even have the money saved up. I just need to find the time to get out to the stupid airport. So I think I have "weird" covered.

And I've decided that I need a dbf. Ugh. I don't even want to think about making that happen. It'll make losing 60 pounds look like a piece of cake.

I've been thinking about making a progress chart in excel, that will show line graph when you enter the numbers. But I only have excel on my work computer, so it never gets done.

Does anyone know if there's anything like that online? (So I don't waste my time  )

melissa, i just got a sheet of paper for each month and numbered on each for the days in that month. i keep the pages next to the puter when i'm home and take them with me when we are traveling.

here's what i write each day:

I am the 2006 National Indoor Female Archery Champion for both groups!

lanny says to put an exclamation point on the end because you're passionate about this goal.

there are 2 national organizations that have indoor national championships. i won one of them and came in 3rd in the other last year, so my goal is not "far fetched." lanny says to make our goals achievable and work toward them as well as write them in present tense daily.

i hope this info helps.

kathy, thank you for the site. i'll check it out.

Aha! Just as I thought!

I weigh 140 pounds and am in great shape!!

This time next year I expect to be 52# lighter! That's my goal and I'm sticking to it. This means I have to stay OP, be firm in my eating thoughts,
nicely but firmly stick to an eating plan especially when I'm entertaining family, and stick with my exercise of yoga and treadmill. I've learned a lot this year and the best thing I learned is to never give up and to eat when hungry. Next year I'll fine tune that.
Best of luck to us all. :hat:

kathy, i love your enthusiasm.

judy, we can do this. i have decided to re-start in the am. i have to confess i had moments of wanting to wait till new years day.

That's easy to do, isn't it Sandra?

These goals are great. Tanya, I don't think getting your pilot's license is crazy at all, if that is something that you want to do. And I'm sure finding a DBF won't be that hard either! ;)

Sandra, thanks for the info. It makes such a big difference to think positively, doesn't it? I'm guilty of being too negative.

 chickies!

I am a thin, healthy woman in the prime of my life! :queen:
