Morning, all. I'm home waiting for the DW repairman. I recommend you all do like Angela suggested -- put a cloth or something over your DWs so they won't hear about all these problems that Frouf and I are having with ours. They might get upset, and you know how stress can just lay you down!

Vickie, I watched that whole game. I can't believe that call -- well, you guys were probably glad to see it, but that ball did NOT hit the ground. However, games are won and lost all the time on bad calls and it probably just makes up for one that went the opposite way in the past! It's all okay though -- just my opinion and I hope you don't take offense to my armchair umpiring. It was a good game, didn't you think? I'm sure the city was going as wild as the crowd was!! And I can't believe the Angels put Washburn in as sick as he was.

I'll be back after I get to work this afternoon. The kitty is at the doctor having his yearly visit and he was really not excited to get into the cage; even though I'm getting to work around noon, I'll still have to leave at 5 so I can get to the vet in time to pick him up.

Frouf, I hope you're making it thru your day of fasting.

Happy Yom Kippur, Frouf!

Kathy, sounds like you have a busy day. Sorry you are having to wait for a repairman--again!! Oh, and hugs to the kitty.

Repairman is here. There was an icky gooky blockage between the sink and DW, same thing that happened a month or so ago. I have decided not to ever ever ever ever use the disposal again, and will smack anyone who tries.

Maybe I can get to work by at least 1:00 and get 4 hours in. At this rate, I'll be working all weekend to make up the time.

It's over, it's over!!! My turn to teach preschool is over until Thanksgiving! Yippee!!! Sorry, I just get very excited about it.

It actually went very smoothly, and we all had a good time ... it's just very exhausting to do it all.

I am going to veg completely this afternoon, until it's time to pick up dd. No thinking allowed.

Later!
Angela

Hey Chicks! Just checking in. I'm VERY tired. Jim's eyes are great (except for those tiny cataracts starting to form). He doesn't want to hear about the cataracts. We both go to a wonderful, young eye Specialist. Jim goes to make sure there is no problem being caused by his diabetes. I have interocular hypertension which is a precursor to glaucoma. So I take drops every night in both eyes to keep my pressure down. I'm still around 22 in each eye which is high but I go every 3-6 months and have every test known to man done on my eyes. So far, no damage. We love our Doctor (except for the fact that he is a Cub fan). He's a nice Cub fan though and took it very graciously when Jim and I walked in beaming today. Jim was in full post season regalia, with his Division Championship shirt and hat. The Doc was very nice about it. We had a good baseball talk.

Kath, we think the ball was caught too. Josh Paul didn't help himself though with his move after the catch. Instead of bringing his arm straight up he made a funny pinch of the glove and looked like he tapped it or pushed off the ground or something when he was straightening up. Maybe that threw the ump off? Having said that though, on a close play, a good catcher would make a tag or throw to first just to be safe. It might all have come to nothing if they had kept Crede from doubling. They sure didn't do what they needed to do once the call went against them. Baseball is a funny game and close calls are part of the romance of the game. We feel VERY happy that the Sox capitalized on the play and are definitely feeling as though there might be some magic and good karma on our side for a change. I have next to no voice left. Yep, I sure did scream like a loon in my own family room just as if I was at the game! I don't mind your analysis at all. True baseball fans revel in a good well reasoned baseball discussion! BTW, I wouldn't use the disposal anymore either. I don't have one and I've never had a clog (knock on wood) in the 7 years we've had our dishwasher here.

I feel so far behind by I'll do my best.

Angela, woo hoo on your behalf! I hope you get some much needed rest. You are awesome. You're happy it's over but I bet those kids are looking forward to seeing Teacher Angela in the fall!

Frouf, we're missing you during your Yom Kippur observance. You are such a wonderful woman that I can't imagine you having to atone for anything.

Sandra, I like the Whitney "do". It does look like it might take a lot to maintain. Mine would never do it! Can't wait to see how you look.

Melissa, it is kind of eerie that you and Aaron almost got hit yesterday too. It is very scarey to be in the car but it's a necessary convenience. I hope you got to rest last night. Does cover letters mean that you are finally going to start applying for some new jobs that might make you happy?

Well, it's 1:15 and I'm going to go try to nap for about 2 hours. My Sister and BIL will be arriving at around 4:00 for an early birthday dinner. We're going to the Texas Roadhouse where I'll be having my usual pork chop, sweet potato, and cauliflower. Yum! Hope you are all happy and well.

I'll be back later to check in.

Okay - no talk of food - all food related chat is now BANISHED UNTIL after 7 pm this evening - thank you

Kathy - you haven't seen stacks of dirty dishes until you've been in my kitchen (notice I am upstairs and not down there)! We have a super HUGE island in the kitchen and you can barely see it now - seems NO ONE has had the inspiration to do them and so they sit! Including last night's china, silverware, etc. Glad your dw is going to be funcitonal soon.

My dw repairman/dh is now there right now taking the pump apart and says there is nothing wrong with it - so we have no real idea of what's wrong - what a bummer!

Angela - I feel your pain - lack of burrito seasoning has affected stronger folk than you - don't give up hope! Glad your pre-school went well and I hope you get a nice rest.

You too Vickie - hope you nap and outing today are fun. Sounds like the game was pretty exciting? And thanks for the kind words but us froufs have plenty to be forgiven for, believe you me!

I am back from synagogue now (at the insistence of dd who was getting "bored"). I am now really starting to feel it - slight headache coming on - and big flowing hunger pains are astarting to rumble thru my tummy. I know those will last for a while and then disappear. I am also thinking of napping, but usually wake up feelikng even worse.

DD and ds will be eating early (ds has dancing from 6-9pm and ds in school tonight). We are going over to a friend's place in the neighborhood to break the fast - I think she is serving salad, bagels, cream cheese and smoked salmon (my FAVORITE) and cheese blintzes (thin crepes filled with a sweet cheese filling). I just broke my own rule it seems! It's not so much the food I'm missing but the water - I am just parched!

thanks melissa and patti for the good wishes too. Patti - hope the turkey dinner turns out great.

Might go back to synagogue for the final service - depends on how I'm feeling. It is a rainy gloomy damp and cold day out there which doesn't help!

Just realized I should make sure we have something to "bring" tonight for hostess - will get dh to pick up some flowers maybe when he picks up ds from school.

Only about 4 more hours to go!

Frouf

Frouf, I admire your strength. Now I'm REALLY going to nap but might nibble on something first. I can't believe how hungry I am. Shame on me for complaining when you haven't eaten all day. Bad Vickie.

Ahhhh Frouf, I am such an anal straightener and organizer, so after 24 hours of no dishwasher, the dish drainer and mat come out. I have a very cute one; not your usual Rubbermaid "grandma" looking thing. I have loaded the dishes in the DW, have handwashed all the pans in the sink, and then ran a sink of hot water to soak the ones that were abandoned dirty ... dishes with a thick coating of every substance known to mankind. What have they EATEN in the last day or two? Ick, ick, ick.

After the repairman left, I went to work and took Judd's lunch, and also took the snacks, water and cokes that I bought yesterday for the breakroom. And then I came home. Yes, that means that I work 10 hours tomorrow and 8 on Saturday. Saturday is our company chili cook-off and open house, and I'll be sitting there working. I am negative on the PTO, which means out of my 4 weeks off next year, I only get 3 of them. Oh well ... I hesitate to use any more and go even MORE negative, but I might have to.

There's a very good show on Montel right now about a guy who killed his wife but claimed sleepwalking. Um, no ... sorry, don't buy that lame story. He changed his clothes, bandaged a bloody wound, told the dog to shut up, used a flashlight (and supposedly sleepwalkers can't distinguish day from night, so no use for the flashlight). Nice try, though.

Vickie, I'm glad Jim's eyes are hanging in there. After thinking about that play since last night, I wish he had made the tag, but I think he was certain he had caught it and didn't feel the need. When the Angels starting leaving the field (because they also thought it was an out) that just solidified my opinion of the catch. But you're right, he should have either tagged or thrown to first. My Rangers have been on both sides of calls, so I am certainly not judging anyone here! I say more power to them, and I would have celebrated all night long! I hate to wait another day for a game but oh well. Tonight's Astros / Cards game doesn't interest me but I'm sure I'll watch it anyway.

Frouf, close your eyes here. Tonight I'm making this very yummy looking meal and I can't wait! I have chicken pieces marinating in pineapple juice, soy sauce, and olive oil. I will put them on skewers, and on other skewers will put mushrooms, purple onion, and red bell pepper. I'm also making snow peas sauteed in olive oil and sprinkled with sesame seeds, brown rice, and a big salad. Yummmm!

I'm thinking about making a weekly post with grocery store ads that have Core foods on sale. I will need to know what sorts of stores you guys have. We have Kroger, Tom Thumb, and Albertsons here. I don't count Walmart because they rarely have sales. What do you think?

Back to Montel ... I LOVE being home!!

Kathy that is a super great idea. I shop at Kroger. I didn't know that Kroger existed in Texas. We didn't have it where I lived in NC. Sorry to hear that you will have to work so much. I hope that you enjoy today though.

Frouf, it sounds like you are doing well today. Fasting is difficult but I think it is rewarding when done with a purpose. Good for you!

Vickie, glad to see you back. Yes I am sending cover letters and trying to get out of here! I have two prospects currently, one of which is just down the street from my in-laws, which would be great because MIL will probably babysit when the day comes. So we'll see! Hope you are napping well and have fun tonight.

It has been a busy day! I'm glad that it is 4 and almost time to get out of here. Tomorrow is "Staff Appreciation Day" which means that we are going out to eat and then we get to go home. So I get to go home a couple of hours early. Always sounds good to me.

I didn't want to give anyone the wrong idea. It's not that day yet! But I will be glad when it gets here.

Kath, we have Jewel/Alberston's and Dominick's/Safeway grocery stores here. I'm craving Cornmeal chicken and oven fries and my special Core Chicken Fried rice. We'll be having those next week.

Kath, you gotta know I LOVE Josh Paul, the LAA Catcher. He came up through the White Sox organization and we couldn't wait for him to "arrive" in the majors. He just really never turned into the ballplayer that the Sox wanted but he's a great guy with a fabulous work ethic. We think he got cursed when he was traded to the Cubs in 2003 (the Bartman year!). I can wait for the game. I'm sick with nervousness. These guys are good and play the same kind of ball that we do. I think EVERY game is going to be a nail biter. Sorry you're in negative PTO. That really stinks and must be stressful for you.

I got about a half hour nap and now I must go freshen up for dinner. Nothing to wear as we are behind on laundry and my shirt I wore all day is too big. I'll be back after Sister and BIL leave tonight. She is 63 today (14 years older than me) and my closest friend in life. Kathy, I'm going to give her an extra big hug and kiss for you in about 15 minutes!

waaaaaaah!!!!! i want to look like whitney houston. grow hair grow!!!

frouf, i hope you're enjoying your special day.

angela, you're a hoot! now you know how all teachers feel at the end of the schoolyear. lol

patti, what are you reading? i'm reading james patterson's london bridges. it's pretty good. enjoy your turkey!!

vickie, we saw that 9th inning, too, and think the sox won fairly. that catcher should have thrown the ball to first. he's paid big bucks to know what to do. GOOOOOOOOOO SOXXXXXX!! my hair is too fine to ever do what whitney's does, but i want to use hers as a base to show my stylist what i'm looking for. i am definitely low maintenance. curtis is allergic to sprays, gels, etc.... so i am a challenge. i used to be a "big haired texas lady." now i'm a frumpy bmw. oh, well, life goes on.

kathy, what a good idea!! albertson's and safeway. i know you don't have any safeways down there but they are they same as randalls. do you have a randalls? i know there are some in east tx and the austin area.

melissa, tomorrow sounds neat. nothing better than getting off early on a friday, is there? (unless it's being off all day monday)

not much going on here. we cleaned out the freezer in the garage. i have been doing a lot of cooking today. (sorry frouf) now we're settling in to watch tv.
