is there anyone here that isnt using the FF products(mainly in terms of mayo ,cheese and dressing) but instead uses light or lowfat products to get fat intake in place of the oil? really need input on this b/c im struggling bc i hate the taste of both oil and the ff products but have stopped losing and trying to figure why.

also is there anyone who has done the fat/fiber plan?

I don't use that many ff products, mainly because here in Canada we don't have the variety you do. I don't however think "regular" fat products would replace the healthy oils we are supposed to have daily?

What type of oil are you using? and how are you using it? Do you still have problems if you use the oil to make a salad dressing or added to cooking, like a stir fry?

I only use FF cheese and sour cream. I use the healthy oils to saute veggies in my recipes.

I love the taste of FF cheddar and FF cheese on my BP. I also use the healthy oils for a quick vegetable saute, or to drizzle on the steamed veggies, or sometimes on the BP itself. I have also made a salad dressing with olive oil and balsamic vinegar but prefer the bottled kinds.

IMO, seems as though you'd be better off using the FF products, and then in order to get your oil in, use a regular oil and vinegar dressing on salad. Cheese and sour cream points will add up quickly, but the salad dressing is still only 2 pts and will incorporate your oils.

If WW thought it was ok to use the other products instead of oil it would have stated that.

It would be BEST if you managed to get in 2 teaspoons of the suggested oils if possible!

Perhaps when the plan is re-evaluated in the Fall they will make a change. They do at least once a year. So until then for best results Follow it to the best of your ability as it is written for best results! ;) That's what I have always done.........................it works for me a free Lifetime member.(I will admit it took me years to quit following "my plan" and start following their plan~

Good Luck!

im trying but there are just some things that make no sense to me like adding extra fat and being forced to use ff products(i lost all of my wt on the fat/fiber plan which was very similar and they encouraged us to limit fat intake.

The Core plan makes a distinction between good fat and bad fat. Evidently, the fat in cheese products is not good fat or not as good as Canola or Olive Oil.

andreaphilip3 07-10-2005 08:19 PM

yea that part i get but what i dont get is there still needs a fat reduction overall and i was on the ff plan w/o all this fuss. its just confusing

Katpo 07-10-2005 08:29 PM

Actually, not confusing at all. Your body needs fat to function, but the wrong kinds will clog up the arteries. The good kind don't.

My parents had a friend who was instructed by his doctor to reduce fat. He took it to the extreme and ate a completely fat-free diet. I mean COMPLETELY fat-free. He landed in the hospital with his entire system shutting down because it was gridlocked. It took a long time for him to recover.

The other point to be made here is that as WW and the health community learns more they release new programs with improvements. I take it to mean that this is now what is thought to be best for healthy weight loss management.
