Hey everybody. Hope you're all having a good weekend. Its rainy and COLD here, they're even saying it might snow tonight which is crazy considering its been in the 70's/80's the past few weeks.
I've been feeling even worse than yesterday so I've done nothing but lay around today and make dh wait on me. I've sipped on liquids ( ) and watched Dirty Dancing. What a way to spend a Saturday.

Vickie, I'm glad that you and your PT are on the same page now. They can cause a lot of pain when they want to. Hope you can get some rest this weekend even though it sounds like you are busy!

Vivian, Hi there and congratulations on your weight loss! Very inspiring!

Angela, I think that you are my new role model. I can hardly sew a straight line much less and dress. And take care of all of those kids? I would go crazy. I can handle a houseful of teenagers, but not preschoolers.

Linda, congrats on your loss! And watch out for those gecko things. I used to get them in my sunroom at a different house. I can deal with them outside, but not in my house!

Kendra, sounds like you are doing great. I like soy cheese myself. Although I made grilled cheese with it and it just wasn't the same. But it will do in a pinch.

Frouf, sounds like you are super busy this weekend. But your meal sounds delicious! Oh, and its also nice to know that someone else occasionally devours a half bag of bbq chips.

Kathy, hope you have fun tonight!

Poor Melissa!! I hope you at least get a little loss from this sickness you're having!

We're home, Mavericks lost. I'm about to change into my PJs, spray Febreeze in my hair, and go upstairs to my private room. DH can deal with the dogs, etc. tonight. My back still hurts and legs are tingling/numb, so I know I'm in for a long week of misery. I hope I can get into the doctor either Monday or Tuesday, but then will have to go thru the referral process to go to the neurologist/MS doctor. No fun.

Everybody have a good Saturday night.

Hi All! Back from my party. I was good. Plenty of Core food was available. My sweet Niece made garlic dill dip with FF sour cream and FF mayo. It was delish and I ate it with fresh veggies (baby carrots, celery, broccoli and cauliflower). I had Core pasta salad and Core sweet and sour coleslaw. I ate broasted chicken with the skin removed. I'm hoping I didn't get too much fat. I'll count some points to cover that. I ate my Godiva SF chocolate bar (4 points) while everyone else ate cake. It was very good and very worth the points. Niece sent me home with the leftover pasta salad so I'll probably eat that with some tuna tomorrow for lunch. It's great to be supported by my family. Makes things so much easier.

Linda, we must have been posting at the same time this morning. I didn't see the fabulous news about your 2 pound loss until tonight. Huge congratulations to you for this accomplishment. It seems like a while since you've lost this big of an amount. Kudos. Maybe you could turn lizard jumping into some kind of exercise! I'd hate them too, I'm sure.

Kendra, wonderful news on your weigh in! 6 pounds gone forever! Kudos to you! Here's a little cheer for you...one for each pound down!

Frouf, the charoseth sounds incredible! You've said you have a sugar addiction so maybe this IS what got you going. You'll be fine once you get through this weekend. You have to get some sleep girlfriend. How can you fight the evil sugar monster when you are exhausted?

Kathy, you sure are a sports girl! I like Hockey, Football and Baseball but really only religiously follow Baseball. Sorry your team lost tonight. So what's up with your back? Did I miss something? Hope it's not serious.

I'm off to bed. Jim is already dozing on the couch. Gotta run a few errands tomorrow and I'm cooking a new dish for dinner. I'll be checking on you all at some point.

Exclamation The Battle Continues!!!

Sugar Monster, 12, Frouf 0

You can see this is NOT GOING WELL! I have succumbed and having trouble getting back in control.

Ended up going to Outback last night and was so hungry - had a great salad w/ranch on the side - but I did eat some of the grated cheese on top. Enjoyed a marvelous big steak (okay I did leave some over and brought it home in a doggie bag) and a large baked potato w/butter/sourcream on the side. Very filling. Also had a couple of pieces of the yummy dark bread w/butter!

The worst was the DARK SIDE - yes dh bought me a little bag of the new dark chocolate M&Ms (don't like milk chocolate or cheap chocolate at all!). They were not bad and of course I figured since I was so off track already I might as well eat these - not a good attitude at all!

This morning off on the wrong foot again - made some matzo brei which is broken up softened matza w/beaten eggs - fried on a pan like a giant pancake! I ate too much of it of course - it was very yummy...then the kids got into the fluffy puffs (yes that's the name of the coconut covered marshmallows) and we finished off the bag!!! I am so sorry I brought all this non-core passover stuff into the house - normally I would be okay w/this but it's like a big non-core celebration for me - not sure why I am like this? I am even eating when not hungry something I really try to avoid!

Tonight's menu: appetizers include gefilte fish, eggplant, chopped liver, coleslaw, matza and pickles. Then matzo ball chicken soup, then roasted chicken, roasted potatoes, brocolli & carrots...and some store bought desserts (chocolate chip macaroons, chocolate covered matza, rainbow cake w/chocolate icing.....hmmm looks like we have a common theme here)...oh ya and some wine as well. Hope to fill up on the core stuff so not so tempted by the non-core goodies. Might have to get rid of the other stuff quickly so there are not too many non-core leftovers! I am already dreading next week's weigh in and feel very unmotivated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also a gloomy rainy day here and I have tons of laundry to do and dinner prep to complete! wish me luck!

I added several recipes to our boards, a couple in individual threads and some others in our subfolders. Check them out! One was a crustless strawberry pie. I can't wait to try it out. Jim and I love fresh strawberries and they are in season now.

Frouf, poor baby! I know once you get the taste of that stuff in your mouth and the sugar in your system, it's hard to stop! Have your Passover and get rid of the non-Core stuff if you can. I told my Niece today that I'm ready for a non-Core meal blowout....maybe for my birthday. She keeps telling me not to do it because it's hard to get back on the wagon. I have time yet to decide.

It IS hard to climb back on the wagon! It seems to get higher every time!

I'm awake now but really in pain. I have a mild case of MS that reactivates every year or so ... between episodes I'm okay but when it hits, my back hurts, my legs go numb and weak, my handwriting goes to he!!, and my eyesight is temporarily affected. I deal with it okay by taking a few rounds of steroids and lots of rest, but this time it's affecting my arms too and both legs are really bad, plus the side of my face is burning sort of like after you go to the dentist and the feeling starts coming back. But whatever, I'll get in to the doctor this week. There's a new MS doctor in Dallas that I just got the name of, and I'll ask for a referral. Anyway, enough about that ... I just thought I'd answer your earlier question of what's up with my back.

I am having a problem getting back in the groove. I keep saying tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, but this time I mean it. I failed the scale challenge by hopping on this morning, and it said 152. Yup. I think I'll go change my ticker to keep myself honest, then will weigh in the morning, adjust it to whatever it says, and live with it until the next Monday. I'm not doing very well with this pre-maintenance thing.

Wow, Kathy, I didn't know! MS can be a tough thing to deal with. I had an acquaintance at work who had it and some days she was ok and some not. She had to avoid extreme heat and stress. She retired before me because the job was really getting too stressful for her. I hope your episode is short. I would have hoped for mild too but it sounds like you are already past that. I hope the new Dr. has some protocol that will help you. Are you on the steroids already? I heard they can make you gain weight and be hungry. Just do the best you can. That's all we can ever do.

I'm off to treadmill now. Jim went back to pay for the mattress that we picked out on Friday. I want to be done exercising when he comes home. Talk wit you all later!

Steroids are actually what started my weight gain 4-5 years ago when I was first diagnosed. And 3 years ago, I had the epidural steroid injections to see if that would help with the disks that were affected, but it didn't help. Basically they put you to sleep and stick a needle in your spine that's full of high-powered steroids. I gained immediately, plus I had pills to take afterwards. This time I expect they'll do a spinal tap to see how "dirty" the fluid is, and maybe a MRI to check the status of brain and spine lesions. It's a difficult diagnosis because so many other things mimic it, but the bottom line is if you can check a certain number of symptoms off of a list, they treat it all the same no matter what it's called. I've had doctors fighting over this Dx for years because some say I don't have all the symptoms, and others say you don't have to have them ALL. But anyway, I hate to complain about it except that it's been really difficult to sleep because of the numbness and pain.

Off to the grocery store now -- maybe I can get enough good Core food to keep me entertained for the week.

Kathy! You are giving me sympathy when you are going through all of that?! My little stomach virus is nothing compared to living with MS. I'm sorry that you are having to deal with all of those symptoms! Will you be able to work okay?

Frouf, we need to help conquer the sugar monster!! You have done so well, try not to get too down on yourself. It is a very special occasion and I'm sure that a little sugar in moderation won't get you too far off-track.

Vickie, it sounds like you did really well at the party and that you ate some good stuff, too. :

Well I am thankfully feeling much better today. I'm not doing much other than laundry and cleaning up the house, but its more than I've done in about three days. I've been eating very non-core since I got sick, but I have managed to lose 2 pounds. Well, that's what the scale said this morning, but official w/i is tomorrow morning. So we'll see if the 2 pounds stay away on my first day of eating solids again.
Its cold here, it was actually snowing this morning!! Crazy! Its been in the 80's earlier this week. Hopefully this will pass through quickly.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday.

LOL! Melissa, I try not to think about it until I'm forced to. Usually I'm okay but I foresee a short-term disability in the next week or so because (a) if I go to my doctor tomorrow, he will order a battery of tests, and (b) if I go to the specialist, they will order even more. I'd like to get a lot better before trying to sit at a desk all day, but tomorrow is the day I make lunches for our local night shelter and I can't miss (or 100 people won't have any lunch on Tuesday!) ... so I'll doctor up and press on.

I got a lot of good stuff at the grocery store so we'll see how this week shapes up. I'm not going to sweat it for now though.

We had relatively low temps for this time of year, and supposedly will get some rain tonight and tomorrow morning. We need it desperately, so I hope this time they're right!

Well Kathy you are very brave! I hope that the doctor can help you out asap so that you won't be in pain while making lunches tomorrow night.

Hehehe ... actually I just left a message for the HR person at work who is in charge of community service, and told her I wouldn't be in tomorrow. Now I'm putting cookies in baggies, and tomorrow morning will go get all the stuff to make the sandwiches, and then assemble the 100 sack lunches. Fortunately it's still a little cool outside and we can get away with turkey/cheese sandwiches (easy to make) instead of peanut butter/jelly. In the summertime, there's a rule that it HAS to be PB&J due to no refrigeration on jobsites.

I'm calling the doctor first thing in the morning. There's no way I can make it very long in this condition without completely breaking down and heading to the ER. It stinks, but at least I don't have to deal with it but once or twice a year.

Good! At least you don't have to go into work tomorrow. And turkey sandwiches will be much faster than PB&J.
You seem to have a great attitude about this whole situation. But I guess when you have to deal with something, you just learn to adjust! I hope that you can get in to see your doctor and that you don't have to visit the ER!

Kathy, I hardly know what to say. You are one amazing Woman! I'll not be complaining about my elbow anymore. Your episode puts everthing into perspective. I wonder if your stress at being with your Mom triggered your current flare up? You are a good person to be doing whatever it takes not to let down your lunch recipients. Not many people would make such a heroic effort.

Hope you get your medicine first thing in the morning and that it works right away.

Good morning everyone:

Sounds like a lot of busy weekends. Why does everything seem to pile up this time of year. My kids school has about 10 events planned for the next couple of weeks.

Kathy, I hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds rough, but you have a great attitude.

Froufy, you menu sounded wonderful. My husband went to a Passover dinner last night and he said there were about 25 different dishes! I'm almost glad that I had to stay home with the kids.

Anyway, check out the tracker! I don't know what I did, exactly, but it worked. I'd love to get to 10% next week--it's just one more pound, but I'm almost afraid to hope for it because it will be that TOM. I don't always gain, then, but it happens. I'm going to try to be good, though, and stay away from restaurants.
