Great job Terry! I am so impressed - you GO, Core-woman! :D

Angela

Vickie 04-18-2005 06:18 PM

Well there you all are! Back from my lunch and about to go warm up some leftover Core Chili. I fixed my Sister's scanner (good little Sister!) and had a nice lunch.

Thanks for the kudos on my NSV. I'm still pretty high about it today. Now that I'm wearing clothes that fit my Sister tells me that I look smaller. Woo Hoo!

Angela, I have to to get back to that Flylady website. Hope you didn't work too hard today. Sounds like you have a busy week planned too!

Frouf, it doesn't sound like your discusion with Emily went as badly as it might have. She'll get over her anger at some point. I'm glad that you got some fresh air and got to relax a bit. Hope that Therapist calls you back soon. The sooner she starts getting therapy the better.

Cher, very impressive that you resisted the pizza. It's one of my favorite foods that I miss on Core.

Terry, congratulations on your weekend. You did an amazing job of staying on program. I'm sure you'll be rewarded at weigh in this week. It's always nice to make friends. I've never moved. Most of my friends have been in my life for 20-30 years! Once I count you my friend....you're in! My TOM is due any minute now. Here we go again...all getting it around the same time. Mine will probably show up on my weigh in morning on Thursday! Wasn't today incredible her in Chicago? It's still 82 degrees right now!

Froufy 04-18-2005 10:44 PM

Almost time for bed - just catching up on the most recent posts!

Had the roast beef, sweet potato and veggies for dinner (with a pre-dinner munch of a few handfuls of popcorn as I headed out the door to drive dd to hebrew school). Also packed up the same for lunch tomorrow!

While dd was at tap I went "shopping" - found a sweater set (black and hot pink w/cute flower shaped buttons!) - but did not like the way it looked - also tried on a pair of size 18 pants (okay with a bit of stretch in them) but they AMAZINGLY buttoned up with me NOT having to suck in my stomach and stop breathing for several moments! They did not fit well in the bum tho (I seem to have a smaller bum that I should for my size...ha ha ha)...I usually look for plus size petites which seem to fit me better in bum/hips area.

Not really ready to buy anything but it was still fun. Some time left over for a decaf w/cream and now I MUST GET TO BED to maintain my well rested mentality.

Still expecting great weather tomorrow (high 70's!!!) so I left my runners and walkman at work to encourage myself to go walking again.

...and about 60 oz of water today....

nitey nite:)

WWEnthusiast 04-19-2005 06:53 AM

Vickie, first and foremost....congrats on your NSV!!!!
Second.....one more time would you please tell me again how to mix the FF SwissMiss and the whatever.....see I forgot :-)
Frouf.....what type of Roast Beef do you use??? Boars Head from the Deli??
Thanks to both of you......have to leave for work.......ughhhhhh Tuesday, the second of the three worst days of my job........see you later.......Thanks again...Linda

Vickie 04-19-2005 08:56 AM

Good Morning All!

Frouf, good job on your eating and your water. Keep it up and you'll see that desired 199 in no time. How exciting it would be to be in ONEDERLAND! I'm glad you had victory in the dressing room, even if they weren't the perfect outfits. You'll find them. One of the tops I bought was bright pink, yellow and orange stripes. I don't care...I love stripes and pink like my friend Froufie! The stripes are very narrow.

Linda, Thanks! It was fun in the dressing room for a change. One packet of Diet Swiss Miss SF/FF Hot Chocolate mix (25 calories) in the blender with one cup of skim, one ripe banana, and 2 ice cubes. Blend until thick and foamy and the ice cubes have dissolved. It is so good. I have it almost every day. Enjoy!

Well, I have 20 more minutes before I must go treadmill. Cut and color today so I must fit two meals, exercise, and a shower in before 12:45! Talk with you all much later. Hope you have a great Tuesday.

Good morning everyone! :coffee:

I am still struggling with this @#%* plateau. I was thinking of maybe adding some ankle weights to my walking............. I already use hand weights, so thought maybe some extra weight on the lower end might help. Maybe I should join a gym; just afraid that I won't go.

Drinking lots of water today. Hoping for a good WI tomorrow. Haven't seen that 159 since last week. Back up to 160.5 this morning. Ughhhhhh!

DS has a friend coming over, so I am getting on the exercise band wagon. Going to look for some different cardio stuff on the "On Demand". Maybe if I change up the exercise it will make a difference.

Friend here.

Bye

Darn it! I just lost a long post -- UGH! Let me see if I can remember what it was!

1. Rain here today. DH is going to the baseball game but thank goodness I decided not to.

2. Coworker out sick with ear infection/strep/fever. STAY HOME -- I do NOT want it! She was here yesterday coughing and sneezing all over me and I was getting plenty ticked about it.

3. Zuki's back at the vet with an infection -- poor little guy wouldn't eat last night, but just sat in DH's lap and shook. He feels miserable and I wish they could figure out how to fix his problem.

4. This might be pretty pathetic, but I'm ready for my "reward" after being good for this many days. Namely, a huge whoosh of weight loss would be nice. :D The longer I go without cheating, the more of a challenge it is to keep it up.

Happy day to all!

Monkeypoodle 04-19-2005 11:36 AM

Hi everyone -

Lots of resolve going on this week. Kathy, swapping water and diet pop for soda and beer, Froufy walking at work, Vickie on the treadmill, Lisa drinking water to break the plateau (be careful with ankle weights, you can hurt your knees), Linda toughing it at work.

Something must be in all that water we're all drinking! ;)

Anna and Melissa, newbie call, are you out there?

I've got WI tonight and I feel bloated and fat. I'm trying not to stress every week, and appreciate you folks bearing with me. Any loss would be good, just please please please, no gain. :crossed:

I'm going to the gym at lunch. I've developed an affinity for the eliptical machine, so I've decided to substitute the eliptical for two of my walking days.

Peace.

cher123 04-19-2005 12:40 PM

Well, I went back to the store and got a pizza. But I only got a little one, so the kids could have it and there wouldn't be any leftovers. I had portobello mushrooms stuffed with "crab" and some steamed asparagus. Fantastic and guilt-free. I gotta keep reminding myself how good Core food can be.

Froufy 04-19-2005 01:13 PM

Cher - great job on avoiding the pizza - way to go! I myself would have nibbled on the crusts at the very least!

Vickie - have fun at the hairdresser - sounds like a busy day ahead (which reminds me I am due for cut/color myself and must make an appt or else no spots for me!).

Thanks also from me for the smoothie recipe - now that I have the swiss miss I can try it! And I love that striped t-shirt - sounds very "springlike"!

Kathy - great job on avoiding those "beverages" - I am sure you will definitely be rewarded with a downward trend on the scale. Hope Zuki feels better soon.

Terry - good luck w/your weigh in - sending "loser" vibes your way...ha ha

Angela - hope you survive the invasion of the cookie snatchers - I love treasure hunts so hope the weather holds out for you.

Lisa - what determination to break the plateau - sometimes changing the exercise routine does work but do be careful to not overdo it!

Very busy at work - just finishing my lunch after my LUNCHTIME WALK - yes indeed it was almost hit or miss but I tore myself away from the computer, put on the shoes and did my walk. It is gloomy out today and started spitting rain as I was returning - yes I actually had to JOG a couple of blocks!!! Looks like my current route right now is about 30 mins round trip so that works out fine.

Back to work will check in later!

Frouf:)

P.S. Someone asked about my roast beef - home made - great recipe which I always use and is FROUF guaranteed: usually top sirloin roast (or whatever good cut is on sale).
Mix in small bowl about 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp cracked pepper, 1 tsp dry mustard, 1/4 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp garlic powder - add about 2 tbsp flour and 2 tbsp healthy oil to make a paste - may need to adjust flour/oil combo - you want a semi-thick paste that will stick to the roast.
Line pan w/foil, rub paste all over roast, place fat side up (if any) on rack in pan. Place in 400 degree preheated oven for 30 mins, then reduce to 350 for remainder of time (depends on how you like it - probably 60-90 mins depending on size of roast). Coating seals in juices and is very flavorful. Everyone in my family really enjoys the roast (as does company).

mumto2 04-19-2005 01:13 PM

Cher - that crab stuffed mushroom sounds good. Do you have a recipe for that., or do you just get some crab and stuff it in the mushroom

Terry - wasn't even thinking about my knees. Maybe that's not a good idea...... I just did WATP "Miracle Mile' Never saw that one, but it was 1 mile in 12 1/2 minutes. Might do it again later.

Vickie - i'm gonna get some sf/ff swiss miss and make that choc smoothie - sounds good., bet it's filling too.

Kathy - poor Zuki - wish he would feel better soon. :goodvibes:

Linda - didn't we agree to lose 10 lbs. by memorial day (?) Guess I'd better get moving.

BBL
Lisa

cher123 04-19-2005 02:20 PM

I didn't use a recipe last night. It was just fake crab meat (the surimi stuff), about a tablespoon of grated romano, some minced red pepper and green onion, a dash of hot pepper sauce, and enough light mayonnaise to hold it together. Pile onto mushroom caps and roast at 400 degrees until the mushrooms are cooked (about 20 minutes.) I'll have to check the brand name on the crab stuff. I finally found one that I really like. Some brands are too pasty, but this one really shreds like crab meat. Of course you could use actual crab, but I'm trying to keep the grocery bills down.

Good for you for walking, Froufy, and you, too, Lisa. I had to drag myself out this morning, because it's cold and gray here, too. But I'm always glad I did.

WWEnthusiast 04-19-2005 05:35 PM

Hi everyone.......well at least Tuesday is down at work...I worked my @$$ off.
NO Lunch break again at all....never seem to MonTue,Wed.......so here I sit eating a few PNB filled pretzels....I know, I know :rollpin: Stress.......... it's my worst enemy....coupled by no lunch many times and you have a disaster weight wise waiting to happen....that's my story.
But I can always get energized and motiviate with all of you here.....
That being said..........first.
Frouf, that was me who asked about the Roast Beef (guess I've been away too long. don't want you to forget me  ..I have cut and pasted it and sent it to my email...many thanks sounds soooo good.
Vickie, thank you again.....cut and pasted that too so this time I don't forget!!
Lisa Yes!!! We have a date for Memorial Day weekend so let's both get our butts moving...we have about 5 weeks!!!!! :D We can do that or a good part of it.....
Kathy I have to comment on #4 of your post....my Lord girl, sometimes you just hit home with me with what you say or are feeling...
I hear that loud and clear.....With me I feel gee if I'm good for 4-5 days in a row....boy do I deserve a REWARD!! what the heck is up with that  There should be no :nono: reward for me until I get this blasted 10 (15 would be better) lbs off.....why in the heck am I making it so hard for myself???????
Cher I love what you said....."keep reminding myself how good Core food can be" Great advise!! Great thought!!
Terry You are so focused with your daily routine, I believe you will do fine....remember a loss is a loss afterall...We always seem to 'hate' those small losses but if we were to gain, even the slightest we hoped that could have been a loss...So I hope it went well....Terry I was wondering....are you 'new' to your neighborhood?? It sounded like it and sounds like what I am experiencing.
Hey Deborah.....how are you doing??? I know I read a post from you, I think it was about your daughters 'get together' Glad it went well.
Oh I went to Flylady website, but seems you may need to be home most days. Don't I wish.....still didn't win lotto
I would LOVE a cleaning women...I am working on that....but I need to ask Kat, what do you think of the Roomba...I am thinking of getting one :D
But I am sure nothing takes the place of a cleaning women or woman.

Well I love everything I read these past two days...thank you all...you really are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bravo: Linda

Katpo 04-19-2005 05:45 PM

Hey, Linda -- I really like the Roomba. It's kinda noisy but not like a regular vacuum cleaner. I can still do other things like hear the TV. And it'll try to eat power cords and rugs so those things have to be picked up. Also, one of my dogs sheds like crazy so I have to empty the little bin after about 30 minutes. Still though, it sucks up dog hair and dirt like nobody's business! I think if I had the recharger base and more virtual walls I would let it run while I was gone during the day. With the base, if it senses its batteries are getting low it drives over and climbs up on the base to recharge itself. Is that wacky or what????? I only have one of the virtual wall units so I have to move it around or put a box in front of whatever opening I don't want it to go thru. Our downstairs has a lot of openings between rooms, not actual doors, and so if I want to keep it in or out of a certain area, I have to block it off. I think they're about $20 each; I should just break down and get some more.

mumto2 04-19-2005 05:51 PM

Here's a thought on rewards:

A friend of mine lost weight by working with a personal trainer. He put her on 1200 caolories a day, but one meal during the week, she could have anything she wanted.
Not all day; just one meal. She picked Sunday lunch because they always went out after church. And that meal, she got whatever she wanted, including dessert. It really helped her stay focused, cuz she knew that when Sunday came she would get her treat. Basically you could save your flex points and use them for that one meal.

Lisa
