Terry, I guess we were posting about the same thing ... I seem to have a knack for that. Sounds like you are very well prepared for a good Core week ... I so admire all of you that plan so far ahead because I do think all of you are right in saying that's a big part of how to be successful. One of these days .... Terry, we'll all think good thoughts that maybe this time you and your DH will be blessed with a bundle of joy. I don't know how you've managed to weather so many ups and downs and stay optimistic ... what a strong, focused person you seem to be! Here's hoping for good news for you!

hi ladies,

man oh man, life is busy. i hardly had time to brush my hair let alone get on the computer.

my ds decided to go shopping with me on saturday. i figured he wanted something but i think he was making an attempt to have a balance in his life, family vs. friends (sometimes his balance does not meet my requirements! ). so away we went, and this is not major mall shopping, but to wal-mart for bathroom stuff, lunch out, grocery shopping (after not going for 2 weeks it was overdue!) anyway, it was great! had a lot of laughs with him! he is such a great kid.

we are heavy into hockey playoffs. they are at game 7 tomorrow night......gotta win to keep going on otherwise get out the golf clubs. tonight is american idol and amazing race so i am going to sit and relax, watch tv, while i am burning rascal flatts onto my mp3 player!

food, points, core........what is that! haha......I hope I am doing well. i was so happy to lose the 1.6 last week that i hope i have not sabotaged it last night with those darn chocolate chip cookies.......grrrrrr.........I have a recipe for biscotti so i am going to make some of those (they are on the w.w. canadian site). if i make large ones they are 2 points so i thought i would make smaller ones for 1 point......kind of a trick......2 cookies for the same price fools the brain into thinking you get more.......hahaha

a balmy high of 3C today.......that will be about 38F......I can almost get out my spring jacket, not as brave as some of these canucks up here......

i am happy that frouf is enjoying 80F+ weather, sipping pina colada's by the pool and reading novels to her hearts content. she so deserves a holiday! Hi Frouf, have one on me ok!!

to Vickie, Kathy, Deborah, Lisa Angela, LJ and everyone else......haven't posted much but have certainly enjoyed reading every last posts of yours. I get so much energy from you all! You keep me going that is for sure.

I am off to read the rest of the threads and hopefully find a new to me recipe out there for this week. 4 day work week for me.....and next week too, although I think I am in Toronto most of next week for work....hope that eating out won't be too bad on me.......

Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kierie, hope your breathing gets better soon. It's scary when you can't breathe good.

Lisa, they have CARAMEL KISSES?! I normally prefer dark chocolate but caramel with chocolate is one of my weeknesses. Thank goodness Hubby is diabetic and we don't have that stuff in the house. It was a good idea to make some chocolate fudge SF/FF pudding. Hope it did the trick.

Terry, glad you came to the support board and am also happy to hear that you are cooking the recipes. Really, cooking the creative recipes has helped me tremendously on Core. Hubby and I both love the Cola Chicken alot. I didn't know they made spicy ketchup though! I'll be checking that out. As for the adoption trials, I sort of understand what you are going through from living through it with my Niece and her Husband. They waited 18 months for their first baby and were "considered" and "not chosen" several times throughout the process. It was very painful and heartbreaking. She said the second waiting period was much easier because she already had her hands full with her Daughter. She now has a Son as well. With all the training and certification they had to go through you would think it would happen sooner. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this time will be the charm.

Deborah, you poor thing! I hope it's not the full fledged flu but a rather a 24 hour virus. Take good care of yourself and let us know how you are doing.

Linda, Do-Overs are allowed as many times as necessary in the WW World no matter what age you are! Giving up completely is the only failure in my book.

Frannie, you sound busy but happy and that is good! It's nice to be able to enjoy an adult child and it's really terrific that he and his team are so talented. I'll keep hoping for their success. I'm sure you had points to cover the cookies so try not to fret too much. The biscottis sound good but I've never eaten one. I've heard that they are hard and probably satisfying? We do miss you when you aren't around. I'm hoping for a good weigh on Thursday, too. Time will tell.

Busy day today, so I'm off to treadmill, eat breakfast and start my day. Hubby has already been to Walmart and to the grocery store. What a guy! Talk to you all later.

Vickie, I think it's great that you don't know about caramel kisses! It shows that you're eating the right foods, and not looking at the candy, right?

FYI, for anyone interested. Tomorrow for Core Inspiration Week we're going to be celebrating our successes so far. I'll be posting a Before/After (well, more like Before/During) photo, and I want everyone else who can, to do so. So you have this evening to get your photos together, and figure out how to attach them to a post. (It's under Manage Attachments, in the Go Advanced posting option.)

Even if you're fairly new to Core, you should still let us know of your successes - those NSV's (non-scale victories) or whatever else you have noticed. I look forward to hearing from and seeing all of you!

Hi all ... it seems as though everyone was busy today. I'm much improved from yesterday, although not 100%. I did get my elliptical exercise in just a little while ago so I feel a sense of accomplishment from that. I haven't eaten bad today ... not completely Core by any stretch since I'm trying to follow a somewhat BRAT eating routine, until things are back to normal.

We had our big shot visitors in today at work to speak with us about the closure of our institution. For all intents and purposes, it's a done deal ... just no definitive time line. Best guess is 6 to 8 months once Congress gives their final blessing, which is expected within the next month. Definitely no buyouts or early retirements to be offered, which is also distressing. So, somehow, I've got to find someplace to finish out my last 15 months so that I can retain the perks of a law enforcement retirement.

I guess yesterday's stomach virus is a blessing as I would probably be eating everything in sight if I were my "normal" self.

Angela, thanks again for spearheading and sharing these Core motivational tips. Vickie, you've been providing a lot of input too and I've certainly enjoyed reading everyone's strategies. I wish I had been more consistent with Core so that I could offer some inspiration to others as you all have regularly done.

Vickie, did you ever start physical therapy for your elbow? How is that working out? Hopefully, it's helping.

Frannie, it's good to hear from you ... check in as often as you can and keep us posted on DS's hockey games. I know you're proud of him for so many things ... how wonderful that he enjoys a shopping spree with mom!

Linda, Kathy, Kierie, Lisa, Terry, and Marie ... hope you all are having a good Tuesday! I know most of you are gearing up for American Idol tonight so enjoy! My DD is a HUGE Carrie (?) fan but is with all of you in hoping that Mikala (?) gets voted off and soon.

Hi all,

I've heard that women tend to synchronize cycles, but over the Internet?

I'm sharing the joy of being a woman with those of you who'd mentioned your cramping the other day. And I have my first weigh in tonight. Thank you all very much.

Kier, go to the pulmonologist! Mine told me that people with asthma can end up with fluid on the lungs and all kinds of nasty things as a result of a bout with a bad flu. You sound like someone who hangs tough, but on occasion it's better to err on the side of caution.

Vickie, thanks for the note about your niece. We were actually chosen seven times, but circumstances ranging from honest birthmothers who had a change of heart or relatives who stepped in at the last minute to scamming birthmothers and unscroupulous adoption brokers -- all kept us from the finish line. We've been blessed though, in that while we were close (we lost one the day before he was born), we never had to give back a baby we'd already held in our arms. We met some beautiful people in mind-bogglingly difficult circumstances and we've met some predators. I like to think that once it's over, I'll be able to understand the reasons for the journey.

So what's the consensus for those of you who have evening weigh ins? Do you eat dinner before or wait til after? Between prednisone and womanhood, I'm a little nervous.

Catch ya later -

Terry

Deborah, thanks for the encouragement. I was a vegan (yes the extreme vegetarian) for several years before I met my DH and started sharing his eating habits. (He's sweet, but he's fattening!) The prospect of enjoying lentils and Indian foods and sweet potatoes is enough to get me to do some serious cooking. Plus because of the diet, my DH doesn't feel bad when I do some cooking for just me. At least for now. And I do try to find low carb recipes that he can eat too.

I know me well enough to realize that when I walk in the door after work I want to eat. If it takes more than 15 minutes to make, it ain't for dinner.

I'm so excited about the possible baby. I just want it so badly I want to will it into being. (I'll let you know how that works! )

Thanks again!

-- Terry

Terry, I don't eat dinner before weighing in. I figure any little bit can help! I also wear very light clothing (linen pants and a lightweight short sleeve shirt), go to the bathroom directly before, remove my shoes, and anything else I can think of to lighten myself.

Although, I have to admit, as long as you keep it consistent, it's probably all a wash in the end.

Deborah, glad to hear you're feeling better! Must have been that 24 hour thing I had. Man, it doesn't last long, but it hits you like a truck!! Follow the BRAT diet and don't worry about Core-ing again until you feel good. Take it easy.

Frannie, it's nice to hear from you.

Everybody else, thanks for being there!!

Thanks, Angela ... I do feel like I'm back in the land of the living today! I don't know how you managed to care for yourself and your entire family while battling this virus thing. You are so capable!

Terry, if you get the chance, there's a wonderful movie I love that you might want to see. It's called "Immediate Family" with James Woods and Glenn Close and it's about adoption. It's pretty old ... late 80's, I think ... so I'm not even sure if it's available for rental. If you haven't seen it, I think you and your husband will enjoy it. I consider it a full box of Kleenex kind of movie!

As far as WI's, I weigh at home in the morning since I'm an on-line person. But I weigh before I eat or drink anything and after taking care of all possible bodily functions! It probably won't make much difference as long as you follow the same pattern every week.

Morning all!
Decided that since I have just recomitted to CORE on Monday, not going to WI today.; also hiding my scale. The week I lost the most weight, was the week my scale wasn't working and I couldn't weight myself every day., so scale is going into hiding.

What did you think about AMerican Idol. Poor Bo. I still like him, but he should have picked a better song. Mikala was horrible. If she didn't get voted off there is something terribly wrong! I don't know how she made it this far.

Terry how was your Weigh In?

Hey, I just heard something on the news about an American Idol mix up? Something about the voting and they have to have a whole new show??? Didn't catch the whole thing.

I agree about Bo -- poor guy, it really was stinky! I liked Carrie but Jessica is still my favorite girl and I thought she did a fabulous job! I'll have to go read about the mix-up and see what's going on!

Deborah, I'm glad you're feeling better but sorry to hear that your office may be all but closed. Maybe they'll make some special arrangements for those of you who are so close to retirement, especially since they aren't offering buyouts or early outs. I could be wrong but I thought RIF regulations guarantee early outs to those with 25 or more years of service. Worth checking into? With all that's going on, you should be very proud of yourself for staying on program as much as possible and for exercising. It will all pay off in the end. You'll be healthy and maybe in a new great job!

Terry, sorry to hear about your visitor! You made me laugh out loud. I had heard of cycle synchronization in offices but it's hysterical to think about it with us. It is pretty funny that so many of us are within a couple days to a week of each other. My history is that once it comes alot of the water retention releases. So...I'll be hoping that you'll have a good loss. But, if you don't it'll be there for sure next week. As far as the adoption goes, my Niece was very lucky. Both children were adopted from the Cradle in Evanston, IL. While it was very expensive and has very high standards, they are very reputable and handle all contact with the birthparents including only assisting those that are serious and ready to place their children with adoptive parents. Sounds like you've had some horror stories. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you. My meetings are on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. I go then because she is my favorite Leader even though I could go earlier in the day. I eat my regular breakfast, a light to normal lunch, and my smoothie snack. I also drink 6-8 glasses of water that day but nothing after 3:00, including the smoothie. I bring a bottle of water with me to the meeting and I wear the same clothes/jewelry/watch every week. I take off my shoes. I also try to weigh in on the same scale every week since I way in at a Center. I don't know if it makes a difference but it's a strategy I follow.

Lisa, I'm glad you're recommiting. Do whatever will work for you. We'll all be here if you need us.

There will be a do over tonight. I think they are all going to get to sing again because the numbers on the screen were wrong. I got a kick out of Constantine. Of course, I was a big David Partidge fan in 1970. Ok....give me a break, I was 13! He showed he has a much nicer voice than I thought! Jessica is magnificent. I hate Jim Croce but I have to say that Bo's rendition of Time in a Bottle was the best I have ever heard. He does have a nice voice under all that Rock N Roll! I thought Carrie was good too but I laughed when I saw her. I said to Jim....is she trying to be Olivia Newton John in Grease? Good girl to bad girl. Funny. Can't wait to see what happens tonight.

I haven't made my appointment for the Ortho yet. No PT until I meet with him and he refers me. So elbow will have to hurt for a while. It seems calm at the moment. I do have an emergency dental appointment this afternoon. Always something!

Gotta go eat breakfast and exercise. Have a great day!

I'm a happy camper.

The weigh-in was good, despite my "issues".

Yesterday I had a late lunch and didn't eat dinner til after WI. At lunch I went off core and used my weekly points. I went to Panera and had a half a panini sandwich and black bean soup. (I used to think this was a very healthy lunch!) I think I'm going to make this a weekly habit. If I have the points, I'll go and get some sort of cheesy grilled sandwich for lunch on weigh day.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. This is such a warm and friendly group.

I found out something that I thought was strange. I'm the only one at my meeting group doing core. Everyone else is doing the points. Is this what you're seeing too? (Boy I can't imagine logging points every time I put something in my mouth. The core program is the reason I came back to WW.)
