Any ideas and suggestions from anyoen who is on Core please feel free to help. i am not sure if I truly understand all of it yet but will try my best. I so love sweets and ideas on sweet things to eat? lol Thanks all!!!
  • Hi Marben,
This is a great place for support. Check out our Core Thread #11, also if you scroll down through the posts you will see daily menus. Great place for meal ideas. As far as sweets, I've been eating a lot of Sugar free fat free pudding.

  • Welcome, Marben! We are a WONDERFUL group of Women here. My favorite recipe website for Core is www.barbosdietkitchen.com. Select recipe archive and type Core. You'll get hundreds of recipes including some desserts. Most involve SF/FF pudding and fruit but they really help when the sweet tooth monster hits. Our recipe board is great too. Especially, the newer recipes have all been tried by us. We have two locations, one at the top and the other is a sticky thread.

Lisa gave you great advice. Check out our daily menus. Do you attend meetings or do you do online? Let us know if you have any specific questions and we'll try to help.

Don't forget to read our profiles and add one of your own if you think you'd like to be part of our support group.
  • This is my FAVORITE Core dessert from Barbo's site. BTW, when you search on recipe archive you need to make your search for longer than 4 months. Do about 10 to be sure yCaramel Apple Delight-WW Core/Flex (3 Pts)

  • Hi Marben and welcome!

Many of us here are core-lovers so feel free to ask questiosn or get advice if you feel you need it!

Hope to see you on the support board and as Vickie mentioned, feel free to have a look at our profiles and complete one if you are so inclined!

  • Welcome!! Also for sweets, there's a great crustless pumpkin pie if you're into that sort of thing. Lots of people eat it for breakfast. I'm sure you could make it in muffin pans too for individual servings and freeze the others.

And like Lisa (Mum) said, you can't beat sugar-free fat-free pudding! There are tons of flavors now; my current favorite is the cheesecake flavor which I eat with some sliced strawberries mixed in. Yummmm!!!
  • Thank you all so much!!!
I can see that there are a bunch of wonderful ladies here!! Thank you all for the welcome and advice. I will certainly use everyone's ideas. I am going to meetings. I joined today. I have tried the flex before but if you tell me I can eat whatever I want as long as I stay in a points range, I will eat choclate cake and ice cream as my points I need more structure and restrictions. I really want to do this though and I think I will like core. I just had my SF/FF pudding, yummy!! I am concerned about breakfast, I so hate eggs but I did buy some core cereal and skim milk. I will check out everyone's menus, ideas and profiles. Thank you all so so much!! I wish you a wonderful night!!

  • Hi all,
I've just started the WW Core program, today, again.... I am trying to do this at home, hopefully with some ideas and support from you wonderful people. I just hit my 5 year anniversary of not smoking and think that it's finally time to get rid of the excess weight. Being 45 doesn't help at all. Wow, I just realized I'm 45 pushing 46 and I need to lose just about 45 pounds. Coincidence???? An ugly one if it is!
I can remember my 20's and dropping weight so easily, well those days are certainly gone! I am at my highest not pregnant weight ever and it poses some serious ramifications with my arthiritis if I don't get a grip RIGHT now!
I truly dislike most forms of exercise, have most of the tapes and some sweater holders. I do like to walk, which is easier to do in MI in warmer weather. My question is: have you found it easier to exercise in the morning before work which means getting up earlier, but at least getting it out of the way.Or is sometime in the evening better? I could really use some input here. Thanks to all and good luck with these weight loss endeavors!
  • Hi and welcome Ladydreamer - and you have definitely come to the right place

I have also noticed that it doesn't get any easier as we get older! I am also a lazy froufie and do have to force myself to exercise - I would think getting it done earlier in the day is a great idea as it is taken care of and no excuses later in the day.

That being said I am NOT a morning person and can barely get out of bed on a good day - so don't think I am a good example. Altho (on very rare occasions) I have been known to do a few situps, pushups and leg lifts in my jammies before getting into the shower!

Unfortunately I am just recovering from a bad bout of sciatica and so have not been exercising for over a week now - and it sure shows!

Come join us on the support board!

  • Hi everyone! Just checking in. Vickie, thanks so much for posting that recipe site, I am getting very tired of the stuff I've been eating, and am looking forward to trying some of these recipes.
I have a quick question, one of the recipes, listed as core, had 1/2 cup flour in it. Is flour core?
Lady Dreamer, you sound so much like me... I dislike exercise too, and it's difficult to do in the winter in Illinois, unless you use exercise tapes/dvd's or an indoor treadmill, or whatever. And, yes, the weight sure did come off easier in my 20s!
As for when to exercise, for myself, I have to do it in the morning. Once I'm home from work, I'm tired, I need to make dinner, and if I exercise I find I can't go to sleep. But, that's just my own experience. Good luck to you.
Kathy, that SF/FF cheesecake pudding with strawberries sounds fabulous, thanks for the idea!
I've dropped 5 pounds, probably mostly water, but hey, I'm not complaining!!!
  • Good Morning Everyone!!
How is everyone doing today? Well today is day 1 for me with the Core program. I had skim milk in my coffee this morning, when I usually have cream It will take some getting used to. Do anyone have any ideas on what I can put in my coffee on Core program? I used to use FF half & half but noticed the ingredients and that won't work anymore.
Thank you all for some great idea and for the recipes and recipes site. I can't wait to try them.
Excercise, humm... I so hate it because I am also very lazy, but I am going to go to Curves. I myself have to do it in the morning or I won't do it at all. If I go home from work, I stay home. They say it will give you energy thru out the day if you do it in morning. I am not at all a morning person. Someday I am still not dressed untill 11-12 but that was before I took on this school bus driving job. I stayed hoem for 3 years and got very fat. Now I am back to work and have to learn to go right to Curves as soon as I get out of wokr in morning. I then have to go back to work at 1pm so it gives me time to do what I need to do. Ok everyone, Have a wonderful day, lets do this once and for all. Let's get up excercise, follow our programs and learn a new way of eating so we don't have to struggle like this for the rest of our lives!! We can do it!!! Let's Roll!! :cheer
  • Wow, how exciting! New motivated people to energize us and who need our help. Welcome, Lady Dreamer! There are several of us post 40 Ladies struggling to get this weight off. I would definitely exercise in the morning. Before I got my early retirement, I would get up 30 minutes early to exercise. If I didn't get up early then it DIDN'T happen! By the time I got home and cooked dinner I was far too tired. At night is better than not at all, but it I believe it's better to rev your metabolism in the morning. As Laurie says, sometimes if you exercise at night it will disrupt your sleep. As you'll see from my profile I have 120 more pounds to lose and am nearly at my 30 pound loss. I worked in dowtown Chicago for 30 years and am now finally focusing on myself with no stress eating getting in my way. Hope to hear alot from you. Fill out a profile and join us on the Core Support Board!

Laurie, good to hear from you. I wasn't sure how it was going for you.

Marben, there is a product available in Chicago made by Land O Lakes. It is FF half and half. It think it is only 1 point for 2 tablespoons (check the numbers) and is quite delicious. It would be hard to tell the difference in your coffee. I finally learned to drink mine black. If you really hate the skim, maybe it would be worth it to pay the points for the FF half and half. Of course, I guess it depends on how many cups of coffee you drink in a day!
  • Morning Vickie!!! Thank you for the Land of Lakes FF. I was wondering if the ingredients matters with the Core program. I believe most FF half & half creamers have corn syrup and some have vegetable oil in them. Would this affect the core? Or can I just count up the points as I use the FF half and half. i so do not want to mess this up this time. I am so tired of fighting the fat, lol. I am 46 years old and at my biggest since my hysterectomy and the weight does not come off easy anymore. I will lose 6 lbs and stop. When I was younger it was a breeze. I need to keep motivated this time and not give up. I think I am mostly trying to convince myself when I write some of these things. lol. Thank you!!!
    Marie
  • Marie, it won't be Core so you'll have to use some of your 35 WPA's. I use at least 20 of my WPA's every week and still lose. I personally think you need to use your WPA's. I guess it depends on much half and half you will use each day as to whether or not you want to splurge your points on this. Double check the points though, because they may be even lower than I said. I don't have a carton here right now so I can't check it for you. I only buy it when my Sister is coming over because she can't drink her coffe black.

I understand, completely, your weariness at fighting the fat. I, too, have been fighting it all my life. I've lost the weight before, I just don't keep it off. I've been on Core since the end of September and I love it. It is the first time ever that I didn't feel deprived. I'm hardly ever starving and I'm enjoying the food that I'm eating. Sure, I'd rather have full or lowfat cheese and salad dressings but that is the only bad part.

I also exercise every day because I have messed my metabolism up very badly.
  • Just got back from Curves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did it!!! I forced my self to go and I did. Now I am so tired, lol. I am sure I will feel better later on.
Vicki, Thank you I will do that. I use alot of half & half but I will check out the points and cut down. I should drink green tea instead of coffee anyway. They claim if you quit coffee and drink green tea for 6 weeks you will lose weight but i won't quit my coffee completely.
I also have lost all my weight at least 5 times and put it back on but this time I reached my highest weight ever.
I have done good today so far, I had shredded wheat with skim milk for breakfast. Now I think I will have chicken no fat ceaser salad for lunch.
Thank Gid for those 35 WPA's!!! Have a good day!!!
