curious about zero point non-core foods on core plan

  • I'm trying to understand the core program. I understand that core foods are not pointed and you eat until satisfied. I also know that you get 35 points to use through the week on non-core foods. What if you have a 0 point food that is non-core? I read somewhere that you would consider it 0 points if you have one serving, but if you have two then you would count it as one point (even if actual point value was still 0) Is this accurate?
  • I think it is basically accurate, though some 0 point foods when doubled are still 0 points! Like SF jello, or diet drinks. The things that calculate 0 points for one serving are usually actually .5 points or less (but are counted as 0) so when doubled they make a whole point. Clear as mud?
  • Suzanne, I think Kathy is correct. My Leader goes way out of her way to insure that we know that zero point foods are not Core. She tells us to count them as one point if we have more than one serving. FF Cool Whip frequently comes up during this discussion! I've not had a problem with zero point foods so I don't worry about them too much, even the Cool Whip! FF or any other type of Cool Whip is not how I got fat!
  • Here is a tip my leader does for both Core and Flex people on those zero point freebies...

for every 4-5 add 1 point to your (day for flex) (week for core).
