Deborah--SO sorry to hear about your uncle. Take care of yourself.
Vickie--I decided that the WW scale wins. I made John put the home scale away, where I can't reach it. I weighed myself today at work on one of our scales (a 3rd, impartial scale-heh), and it registered the same as WW. So now I am happy. Angela-Your plan is awesome. Have a SUPER great time. Kally--WAY TO GO! :) Hope your planning a reward for yourself! Off to class ladies--have a good night! -Spring |
Kally You rock lady good Job
Lisa/vicky I used to loooove to stay home i got teased alot but not now! :) Spring I have a scale I won't bring it into the house i get too obssessive WW is the official shoes and all I have a question for our culinarily inclined chicks: If I make instant or cooked oatmeal can I then cook with it IE can I put it in a muffin tin or something of the like or with instant which has a more fine texture could I fry it and make a mock pancake? My MIL called and while I can talk for days she can talk for WEEEEEEKS she's very nice but she always calls when I'm in the middle of things! |
Hi all..I'm new so I'll introduce myself. I'm Julee...31 (well for 2 more weeks anyways) and fed up with being fat. I am blessed with a BF who loves me as is and who also signed up for WW with me (his idea so he could lose too) and is the best cheerleader ever. I'm doing Core and am happy as a clam...points seems to be working for him. So I'm down 9.8 lbs. after 2 weeks and was amazed to look down and see my ankle bones again...yay for 1st week water weight loss. I think you all are amazing women and look forward to chatting soon...I'm looking for support, tips, recipes wherever I can find them...because the BF is many wonderful things but worthwhile in the kitchen is NOT one of them.
Have a good loooooonnnnngggggg weekend and I'll look forward to readong more amazing stuff! Julee "do what you love...and love what you do" |
HI  and welcome Julee - feel free to visit our Coreporate Profiles board to read all about us :gossip: - and we hope you'll complete your profile too!
Sounds like you are a core fan - like most of us here - and it really seems to be working for you! Spring - I have also had dh "hide" the scale when I become too obsessed (as I am now?)....I am so influenced by the numbers and I know that's not a good thing! Kally - you must decide on a wonderful reward for yourself and share it with all of us! As for the cooking w/oatmeal - I know you can use the "uncooked" oatmeal in recipes (I use it instead of breadcrumbs/filler in meatballs, hamburgers, etc)...waiting to hear about oatmeal pancakes - might be interesting? Had a great supper of mostly SMOKED SALMON - which I love (usually very expensive but on sale this week!) - I could certainly OD on this stuff. Was planning to exercise - but my eyes are almost closing due to too many late nights - I might actually go to bed by 9:30! :yikes: Dh will freak when he comes home and finds me asleep in bed! :D Actually just waiting for laundry from the dryer so I can fold it and get ready for bed! Very nervous for this week's weigh-in - don't think I lost weight - feel like I'm hovering with the same lb or so - need to up the water tomorrow for sure! Keeping fingers crossed :crossed: that scale is moving in the right direction! Nitey nite! Froufie :) |
Kierie, I haven't done any baking or cooking with oatmeal beyond meatloaf. I have however, made some fabulous corn meal/polenta pancakes that will knock your socks off. Check out our recipe board. I'm not sure where Angela put them for us...probably in the sides file. I think they are called polenta corn cakes. You will love them. I make mine sweet and don't use the onion. The www.barbosdietkitchen.com has some baked oatmeal recipes. Just do a search in the recipe archive.
Julee, Welcome and great start on Core! Don't sell youself short. I'm sure all of your loss was NOT water. Why do we do that to ourselves?! I'm so glad to hear about your BF and that he is so supportive. My Hubby has always been that way too, no matter what my weight. As you can see from my profile, I have another 125 pounds to lose so I'll be here a while to keep you company! We love new and energetic folks to make the journey with us! Frouf, I'm tired too. Think I'll head to bed soon myself. I had my weigh in tonight and stayed the same. Very weird. I seem to be in this cycle of small gain or stay the same followed by a good loss. Guess I just need to keep focusing on the average losses and not sweat the week to weeks. I feel like I've been trying to get to 30 pounds down forever! My fingers will be crossed for you Froufie. Kathy, hope you're ok. I know you're really beating yourself up today. Can we help somehow? |
Kierie, here's a link for you off the WW website about oatmeal pancakes. I've never made them but I might give them a try. I especially like the idea of bananas inside!

Down 2 pounds at WI last night and hit my 30 pound mark. I just have to do that 2 more times (sounds easy, yeah right). I made the oatmeal pancakes but changed the recipe slightly. I think I substituted yogurt and added splenda. They came out pretty good but were better without the SF syrup I thought. Hey that actually sounds good for breakfast tomorrow morning! I bet they would be good with bananas or blueberries in them also.

Congratulations, Kathy! 30 pounds down is a great accomplishment. I hope to be right behind you! I'll have to do it 4 more times....but no problem.
|
Thanks Vickie!
I'm just popping in for a second Driving lesso today and I have to humanize! |
I'll be here off and on today -- the big boss just came over and asked if I could help her out today because her admin is out sick. Well ... I guess so but I have no idea what she does!! Plus I have plenty of my own work but I should at least try to cooperate.
So ... I was up another pound this morning. What on EARTH is going on? I am really starting to worry. :( |
Kathy, any water retention going on? I'm afraid your body is holding on to what you are eating for fear you aren't going to feed it. I know you're scared. I would be too. Why not just try straight Core with no sugar at all for a week. Buy bread or whatever but try to avoid sugar and see what happens.
|
I will try that, starting tomorrow morning. What do I have to lose at this point? Abso-rootly nothing!
I think I'll also step up the water a little more. I drank 4 bottles yesterday but last night on the way home from the car dealership (DH got a wild hair to buy a new truck yesterday) we stopped at a Mexican restaurant. No way in the "old days" would one meal have added a pound, but these days it seems like if I step across the line with even just my pinkie toe, I see a gain. That's what completely irritates me. I know I'll have to spend my life watching what I eat, no matter if I'm at goal or not, because even if I *AM* at goal, I have to stay there. Maintenance is kicking my butt harder than losing ever did. |
Julee - Great first two weeks! :D
Katpo - Maybe the Mexican food was a little salty? Are you exercising differently, maybe adding more muscle. Hang in there, next week will be a good one. ;) Kathy from VT - 30 lbs. Way to go! :D :D :D one for every 10 lbs. DD went to school. Talked to her school counselor; evidently a lot of 4th and 5th grade girls are having "friendship triangle" problems. They are starting a friendship club next week for any girls interested; to learn how to be a friend and keep a friend etc. My DD signed up, so we'll see if that helps. Been a little off plan yesterday..........okay, a lot! Getting back on today must be down more than .6 next week. Going for groceries when DS is at preschool. Lisa |
Kathy, I look forward to reaching my goal, but I know with my whole heart that it will be every bit as hard or harder than losing the weight in the first place. Lisa might be right about extra salt in the Mexican food. Your plan to have extra water should do the trick.
Lisa, what a great idea someone had for a Friendship Club. Very creative and just might work. Why shouldn't kids be taught how to be good friends? We have to learn everything else in life, right! |
Yeah, I'm pretty bummed about it. I told DH the other day I thought it would be easier to just gain it all back and start over. At least before I was working toward something.
I think that Friendship Club sounds great for kids! I agree with Vickie -- we teach kids so many other things but learning how to be a good friend is probably one of the most important! All schools should know about this. |
