Shopping List?

  • Just me again, with another question! I'm planning on hitting the grocery store later today, and am wondering what kinds of things are on your regular lists? I won't be starting til Wed when Mom and I go register, so if you could help me out with some good essentials to pick up today, I would appreciate it.

Also, I have this HUGE bag of Edamame in my freezer. Someone PLEASE tell me that's on the Core list?
  • I think it is! I don't eat it but from what I remember, it's legal!

This is depending on what you like of course ... but here's what I always keep on hand:

    Potatoes to bake
    FF sour cream
    FF grated cheddar (Kraft Free)
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray pump -- good on potatoes, vegetables, etc.
    olive oil
    eggs
FF mayo (I eat a lot of deviled eggs)
    Tuna
    Tons of veggies
    Tomato soup
Wheat Thins 100 calorie packages (2 pts but well worth it with the soup)
Chunky Soup and if you need the soup list, I'll go dig up the post
    96% lean hamburger meat
FF cheese slices (to melt on the HB patties)
94% FF popcorn -- but not kettle from what I hear unless the ruling has changed

I take my lunch every day and have a heck of a time coming up with new things, so I usually eat the same things every day. I'm sure the others will add to the list soon.

Do you like couscous? I've never had it but don't want to try. It sounds like a city in Europe to me.
  • Kathy-I think I totally love you! Thanks for your list! I've had couscous before, but not in a long time. Maybe it's time to try again! Looks like my big change will be getting the FF stuff again, which is no big deal to me. I always buy the huge packs of canned tuna at Sam's--one of my favorite lunches right now is tuna with the whole wheat Ak-Mak crackers.

Speaking of the crackers..are all crackers counted as pts? I prefer the Ak-Mak and Triscuits to Wheat thins.

I'll do a search on the soups and stuff. Thanks for offering to dig it up, though!

  • You are a hoot!

Okay, sadly enough, crackers are no-nos but I refuse to give them up. And no, I'm going to find the soup post because I think I know where it is and it's so far buried it would take you months of reading. Hold on...
  • Aha! See I'm how quick I am? It was on page 7 of the first support thread. I posted it not long ago so sorta remembered the general vicinity.

  • You Rock! This is terrible, I want to put EVERYTHING on my shopping list. I have to keep reminding myself I only need to buy for a week. heh heh. Thank You!
  • Stuff on my weekly list...
    FF milk
    wheat pasta
puffed wheat/rice (people wonder HOW i can eat it... my grandma brought me up on it.. she called it my "snack" for the day)
    bananas
    lettuce
progresso vegetarian vegetable soup(YUM it has a savory roasted flavor)
    boneless/skinless chicken
    grapefruit
    grapes
    kidney beans/tomatoes/tomato sauce
    lean burger

I'm feeling hungry just looking at my list I wish so bad that meijer brand fat free garlic and onion croutons were allowed i used to eat them right out of the bag! and they were sooo good on tomato soup! anyway, hope this helps
  • Edamame is DEFINITELY Core....I love it but I can eat the whole bag myself so I have to be careful.

Whole Wheat Pasta (be careful not to buy "blend". I buy Bella Terra and Hodgkins Mill)
    Brown Rice (big staple)
Oatmeal (no instant except for I think plain)
    Farina/Cream of Wheat
Corn meal/polenta (good to make bases for tamale mexican pie kind of things. I also make a corn bread or corn cakes with it to go with chili. Have to be sure you can only it one serving because it could be a trigger food for you. You'll be hearing about this. Some Hard Core people don't make any kind of cakes, muffins or breads. I think it's up to you to decide if you can handle this or not!)
    Bananas
I make homemade applesauce every week.
Great lettuce - I buy the Fresh Express mixed field greens
    Mushrooms
    Red/Green Peppers
    Onions
Baking potatoes (I make some in olive oil and garlic in oven)
    Garlic
    Canned tomatoes (diced, sauce, paste)
beans (great northern, kidney, pinto, garbanzo)
baby carrots (for me and for my dog! No kids to feed here)
    Boneless skinless chicken
    Lean ground sirloin
    Lean pork chops
    Egg beaters
    Eggs
Progresso Lentil soup (Yum, I eat the whole can)
Healthy Choice Split Pea with ham and potatoes (WW says this doesn't count as your potato serving for the day)
FF Cool Whip (not Core but zero points if you don't use too much)
    Skim
    SF/FF puddings
    SF Jello
    Plain SF/FF yogurt
    FF ricotta Cheese
    FF mozarella
    FF cheddar

That's about the bulk of my list. Sounds pretty SBD, doesn't it?
  • hi there, i go every saturday morning and a lot comes from the outside aisles of the store, mind you my son's oreo's are from the cookie aisle! (but they don't phase me at all)

fruits--apples, bananas, oranges, canteloupe, grapes, grapefruit, pears etc
veggies--lettuces, spinach, carrots, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, mushrooms, etc etc
meats--chicken and lean pork, have our own beef, canadian bacon, salmon, tuna
    eggs
ff cheeses and i love the laughing cow cheese light.....points but worth it
rice crackers.......points but oh so good with the laughing cow cheese
potatoes......have in cold room, but i buy myself the sweet potatoes
    fibre one cereal
    instant plain oatmeal
    skinny cow treats......points......fudgepops

    there you have it
  • Uh-oh! I just realized that Frannie and I left something off of our lists!

Beer ... points but worth it!
  • Busch...........so true so true!!
  • Ahh, luckily, I'm not much of a beer drinker, so I don't have to worry about spending points on it!

Those lists were great! Sounds like I did pretty good at the store today. And Vickie, you're right--it wasn't too far off what I normally buy. Just the switching to the FF Mayo, and getting to pick up corn meal made me pretty excited.

I'll try making a small loaf of corn bread next time I cook chili, and we'll see how I do with it.

Jeez, why can't it be Wed. yet, so I can be all official? :P
