Plain Fat Free Yogurt
OMG! I bought some of this yesterday. How do people eat this stuff? It tasted like I can't explain what. Blech! I tried mixing some fresh blueberries in it and it was just horrible. Wah. :)
|
I don't like it either, but I hear there are some pretty inventive uses of it, such as FF/SF chocolate pudding mix. I think that's about the only way I'd be able to take it. Did you put in some Splenda or something like that too?
|
Jessie, I only cook with it because of how bad it tastes. Check out www.barbosdietkitchen.com and search for either Core recipes or yogurt. You might find some help this way.
|
I tried to too. YUCK!!! It is great to cook with though.

Yucky Yogurt
Definitely need to doctor it a bit: try splenda, cinnamon, applesauce, mashed bananas, canned (in water) peaches, or sf syrups such as Oscar's or Torani in whatever flavor you prefer! Be creative! :chef:
That being said - I am still eating the sf/ff flavored stuff - the reason you're not supposed to have this is cuz people have been known to binge on yogurt (like that can ever happen??). I am not particularly fond of yogurt so no fear in inhaling too much. For me it is almost a necessary evil as I have problems getting enuf calcium in (take a supplement every day) as well as being slightly lactose intolerant. This is the only way I seem to get it down - if I had to mix the other stuff, frankly I probably wouldn't bother! :nono: Froufie:) |
I see it was already suggested but to make it like you are used to you need to add a sweetener.
|
I have also discovered different brands have different tastes. Some of the cheaper brands are kinda bitter tasting. I have found Nancy's NF Yogurt isn't bad at all. I generally find it in the natural food section of my grocery stores. I also add Equal to my yogurt and fruit.
|
Try taking 2 cups of yogurt, adding FF, SF pistachio pudding mix, and an 8 oz. can of crushed pineapple (drained). It's really, really good. I also add chocolate pudding mix to yogurt, and eat it with 1/2 sliced banana as "dessert."
|
It is pretty horrible plain ... I mixed 2 cups with a small box of SF jello, lemon flavor, and it was really very good without the need to add any additional sweetener. I mix one cup of that with 1/2 cup strawberries and some dry cereal and it makes a really quick, filling breakfast.
I've just started feeling my way for the CORE thing so I don't know if that meets the criteria for a CORE item or not ... Deborah |
Good Luck, Deborah! Come join us over on the Core Support Board. We are a great bunch of friendly and supportive folks.

It Was Yummy!
Great idea deborah!
I conducted my own "successful experiment" tonight. Was grocery shopping (while dd was dancing - yet again)...and bought a single solitary container of PLAIN fat free yogurt (ugh)...got it home and found a box of sf cherry jello - sprinkled a bit into it..mixed it up with my magic wand/spoon - and VOILA! :chef: - bright pink cherry flavored YUMMY YOGURT! :hyper: What a great idea! I swore I couldn't handle plain yogurt - all that mixing and mucking about - but this was pretty easy! Tme to experiment w/different flavors! :D Froufie:) P.S. Just had an idea - do you think this would freeze well? I am dreaming now of yogurt pops!...and w/sf ff pudding - how about pudding yogurt pops.... :D :D :D |
LOL This thread is too funny. I love Dannon Fat Free Plain yogurt. I add fresh fruit and a little Splenda to it. Or use it plain as "sour cream" on baked potatoes or on chili etc.
I find the sweetened yogurts to be disgustingly sweet. Yuck! This way I can sweeten or not sweeten to my taste. |
I had to put Splenda in the flavored yogurts....sometimes two packets!

OMG! Are you kidding? Boy, you like it sweet. LOL |
I wish I was kidding! Unfortunately, I like things that are very sweet and I also abuse salt. Dear Lord....one thing at a time. I decided to try to cut back on the salt and not sweat the Splenda for now. I don't eat any real sugar at all now.
I even add Splenda to my SF/FF pudding. :o |
