After college I traveled with a friend all over out west and
through Texas one summer during a heat wave (1980). My friend was trying to save gas and insisted on not using the car AC.:hot:

Good luch with low carb, I have lost 5 lbs in a week. I know lots of that is water weight but it's encouaging.. I made a zucchini lasagna that is amazing
& easy. Basically I sauted the zucchini enough for it to give up its water
& layered a really good store bought marina sauce/ sauted mushrooms/ browned italian sauage /zucchini/cheeses

I throw my marina, mushrooms& sausage together before layering but I think
anyway you do it will work..

Tejas 03-26-2013 03:44 PM

driving across Texas with no AC is abuse!...of course, we did it before AC, but not my family!! Then you drove at night.

The lasagna sounds good, and 5 pounds would be good.

i've got a pot roast in the oven. I went to the grocery, didn't like the way the meat looked and the butcher cut me a new roast...great.

There is a meeting at the church tonight. All #$*&@ is going to break out I fear. :(

ontarget 03-26-2013 06:33 PM

Rhonda, sounds like Religious Warfare. I hope all goes as well as possible.

Nancy, :yikes: No a/c driving in Texas.

Day 2 tutoring--2 more to go. Still enjoying!

nancy237 03-26-2013 07:50 PM

I had forgotten about that summer after graduating from college until Rhonda mentioned Texas in August .

I had a guy friend that graduated from college the year before me and was in Coloroda . He talked me into flying out and driving back to NC with him by way of Ca & Texas..The deal was I paid for my way out there, lodging & my meals but he would pay for most of the gas. Then in Texas( during the 1980 heat wave) I think he decided that if he roasted me with no AC that I would offer to pay more gas $, but I can handle heat pretty well so it didn't work. The whole trip was awkward because I discovered he liked me as more than a friend and I didn't feel the same ..I was so glad to finally get home..

140 isn't my final goal, but a goal for this spring. Kinda excited to shed some pounds this last few weeks.

Hi Chicks! Just popped in to say hello. We have rather bad house stuff going on write now that is demanding all my time.

Solid surface sink we installed in 2004 is having crazing issues....cracks...and we are fighting with company to get them to replace the sink. Looking good but the old one will have to be cut out and the new one fused/fabricated without moving or destroying the counter top.

And, as if that weren't enough...the new concrete driveway that we installed last June has problems. First the main color of the driveway doesn't match the color of the small approach at the curb. They were poured on separate days. And today we noticed that it is pitting and crumbling in many sections of the main part.

Sigh. You pay good money and bad stuff still happens.

And my hiatel hernia was already aggravated.

Arggghhhh.....

Just got back from meeting DD in Hot Springs, Arkansas for a couple of days. We had a good visit and got to go to a bath house! Soaked, scrubbed, steamed, wrapped in hot towels then massaged. It was awesome! Hope you all are doing well.

Congrats, Nancy:goodscale

Sorry about your house troubles, Vickie :stress:

Glad you are loving your tutoring, Sandra :book2:

Hope your church meeting went well, Rhonda

Hey, Maryann

Tejas 03-26-2013 11:09 PM

sloanie 03-27-2013 04:00 PM

Nancy, it was awesome! 1 1/2 hours of hot springs treatments and massage for $64! DD and I loved it. We are definitely going back! :cloud9:

ontarget 03-27-2013 07:56 PM

Vickie, I'm sorry about your house problems. I hope all gets resolved soon.

I'm tired this evening, so I'll be brief here. Nancy, I am glad you got home safely from that trip.

Tejas 03-28-2013 12:26 AM

worn out!

Spent hours working in the garden, so it's a good tired....good night

let's all go to the Spa!

Vickie 03-28-2013 09:41 AM

Good Morning Chicks! Problems abound but at least we have our health.

Eating is ok....exercise falling to the wayside. The day after Easter brings new commitment though I am being good now. Bloodwork tomorrow morning!

Light and love to you all.

ontarget 03-28-2013 06:29 PM

I'm so bad it hurts.

sloanie 03-28-2013 09:01 PM

What's up, Sandra? :cofdate:

Tejas 03-28-2013 09:14 PM

yoo hoo Sandra?

I've been so good with low carb and gained 2 pounds. :( Today I just ate.

I did more yard work, and am really tired again...but, that's good.

nancy237 03-29-2013 09:05 AM

Spent the day yesterday helping my cousin clean out closets to prepare for
having hardwoods put down next week. Her closets make me feel better about
mine  I am trying hard to begin to ask "do I use or love this ?" about all my stuff.

I am going to use the weekend to work in my yard and then my oldest son will be home next week..

Wishing everyone a nice Easter weekend

ontarget 03-29-2013 05:03 PM

I've been making horrible food choices. It's time to rethink what I'm doing. I have been eating like I had no weight problems at all. Guess what. I have a weight problem.

Okay, I'm through whining. Ya'll have a great Easter weekend. I'm sure I'll see you here again before Sunday but didn't want to miss sending good wishes just in case.:easter2:

nancy237 03-29-2013 08:40 PM

Sandra...It's good you are taking a look at it, planning & rethinking...
Spring will be a great time to start a new eating direction..

My neighbor is flying to Tahoe tomorrow so she gave me her
salad & chicken wings leftovers..Yum !!

I got a lot done today with sorting, trash hauled to dumpster,
weeds sprayed, pool cleaned..whew..I am tired..

Son is coming home Monday..:carrot:

ontarget 03-30-2013 01:23 PM

Nancy, I see you are having a countdown to your son's visit. Love it!!

We went out for bfast this morning. I am heading over to WW site to journal. (This will be bfast as well as lunch.)

Vickie 03-30-2013 01:26 PM

Good Afternoon Chicks!

Baking Lemon Squares....non-Core...non anything but delicious! Taking them to my Sister's for Easter.

Have a beautiful Easter if you celebrate.

ontarget 03-30-2013 01:29 PM

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Vickie. Sounds delicious! You have a wonderful Easter, too.

My bfast/lunch was 20 pts. I journaled it. That's a big step for me.

nancy237 03-30-2013 03:41 PM

How is it possible to sort and purge for 2 years and not be done ???

But I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Today has been a mix of yard work & sorting .. I pulled together
a huge box of paper, notebooks , folders & stuff to give a friend that home schools.
When the boys were here we kept a well stocked office so they had school
materials, but that time has passed..

Tejas 03-31-2013 12:11 AM

Nancy---try three years, in my case

I've spent the day getting ready for the party tomorrow....friends with kids are coming---the family is scattered on this holiday.

Vickie 03-31-2013 08:45 AM

Happy Easter to the best Chicks on the internet!

ontarget 03-31-2013 10:25 AM

Happy Easter!!

sloanie 03-31-2013 07:44 PM

Happy Easter, chicks!

Tejas 03-31-2013 08:26 PM

Whoa---I had over 20 adults and 4 kids from 3-9 and one teenager. These are people who are not happy at our church right now, wanted to be together, but not there. So, we had our own gathering and Easter egg hunt for the kids.

The 3 year-old put sand from the sand box into the hot tub! When he was told NO he apologized quickly. I told him it would be OK because it really was time for me to change the water. He said "I know--I'll come back and help you change it."

We all had pancakes and bacon---I made a bunny cake for the kids and a FOUR layer cake for the adults---alternating layers of white and vanilla cakes, with lemon curd/buttercream icing between the layers, all iced with 7 minute icing. A masterpiece, I tell you!

Tomorrow morning we need new pages. I'll try to remember. I have to go see the other podiatrist tomorrow morning at 10 AM.

nancy237 03-31-2013 11:12 PM

Rhonda ..that sounds fun.. I can see why a 3 year old would think the sand & water go together ..At the beach they go together !! Cute that he will come back to help..

I got lots done & some family time tonight..

Trying to decide what I can do now that will help when it comes time to move.

I think going thru the sheds & garage & attic and boxing & labeling as much as possible either for storage or "moving sale" would help ...

Stuck at 143..want to get to 140 and maintain for a while.
