Weekly Challenge - through June 15th
This weeks Challenge is to increase your current daily exercise 3 times this week.
I walk daily for 15 minutes. I plan on taking a second walk 3 times between now and Sunday. What will you do?? Please post your journey on the challenge in this thread! |
I do my exercise bike for 20-25 minutes usually 5 days a week. In addition to the bike I will do a kick boxing video 3x a week.
Niki |
Since I have not exercised one time, except for a walk yesterday, since I started core, I will walk three times this week.
|
I, too, will go from nothing to walking on the treadmill three times this week. I'll walk as long as I can between 15 and 30 minutes.
|
I will go swimming for at least one hour, at least 3 times this week.
Thank you for coming up with this idea for a challenge, I am sure we can all use some friendly competition! |
I already walk a lot. But, I will add one 30 minute fast walk each day and I will do the :exercise: video at least twice.
Rhonda |
Ok, I did my walking away the pound kickboxing tape for 15 minutes, what a workout, even my 4 year old dd did it with me and she is pooped lol.
|
I walked at a quick pace for one hour! That is in addition to the 20 minute stroll with my dog and walking at work!
Rhonda |
I will do a upper body work out, with my weights, three times this week. I already do water aerobics twice a week.
|
I will do my :ebike: 3 times this week. I'll start tomorrow.
We were at the doctor's and hospital most of the day. Curtis is having a heart catherization this Friday. If they find the need, they'll insert a stint Friday. What next? |
OMG, Sandra....what happened? When did this all come to light. How are you? I'm worried about you GF.
|
Thank you, Vickie. I'm worried, too. He went for a routine stress/echo a few days ago. An abnormality was found. Our regular doctor called us in yesterday and sent Curtis on to a specialist this morning. Evidently there's a blockage. We won't know how much till the test Friday. Needless to say we are both eating like there's no tomorrow. We know that doesn't help but it's what we're doing.
|
You both have my prayers and good thoughts. Please let me us know when all is well.
Don't worry about the food right now. |
Sandra-Wow! When I say I know how you feel, I really mean I know how you feel. Four years ago my DH had a feeling of racing heart with dizziness. I took him to the ER, and the next thing you know, he was getting a heart cath with stent. He was only 46 years old. He has done extremely well. He takes a few more meds than he did before, but if that is what keeps him with me then "so be it". Our medical technology is amazing! Before you know it, your DH will be fine, too.
I will be praying for peace for the two of you. I know you will be nervous until it is all over! |
It doesn't help much I know, but the medical procedures are almost routine now. DH and I are thinking of you and Curtis :grouphug:
|
Sandra, keeping Curtis in my prayers!
For the challenge this week -- I did walk an extra 10 minutes last night. Took dd with me on my nightly walk, she was on her bike. While she road around a dead end street I walked in circles. I wanted to do more, but a neighbor came out with her dd and we ended up chatting. I am going to try to get out for a walk at lunch today. have a good day. |
Sandra, you are Curtis are in my thoughts and prayers. Everything will be fine. Don't worry about the food. Just keep good thoughts. It must be tremendously hard to do that.
For the challenge, I did my normal aerobics and then I did a 15 minute upper body workout with weights. My arms are killing me. Might have to ride the bike tonight instead of the weights and give my arms a rest! I will see though. |
OK, got my 1/2 hour walk in at lunch!!!
|
Thank you all for your support. We are in good spirits and are just ready to get the test over with.
Congratulations to those of you who are exercising and are making healthy choices. Guess I won't be exercising for a few days afterall. I'll catch ya'll later on the challenge. |
Tracie-don't forget, you are supposed to give muscle groups a one day break between workouts.:strong:
|
Good point sloanie. I will ride my bike tonight, or try one of my workout videos that work on the abs. I'll decide what I will do a little later. I'm off to get my hair cut. It's getting too shaggy!!!
|
Went out for a 1/2 hour walk at lunch today. That will meet the challenge for me!!!! I will do something extra tomorrow as well.
|
Did a workout video on my abs last night and today I road a stationary bike at lunch time(we have a small work out area in the company I work for). But it's upstairs, in the factory. Very hot and humid up there as it is not air conditioned in the factory. I have met my challenge for the week!
|
I've done nothing. I'm busy fretting over the fact that my brand new air conditioner is not removing the humidity from my house like it is supposed to be!
|
Walked one time so far. I did order some exercise dvd's today. Hope to have them in a week.
|
I walked about 5 miles today, to the downtown area to check on a friend's house. It's absolutely astonishing, where the water has risen. But I got my exercise!
Angela |
I did my 20 minute work out dvd and tonihjt I will do 30 minutes on bike
|
Vickie, how's your a/c doing now? I hope it's working.
No exercise here. I'll get started as soon as I can get to the :ebike: Probably by Monday. |
It's cycling off and on every 10 minutes and it's still not removing much of the humidity. We'll survive. They may be here tomorrow but if they can't get back tomorrow then we'll have to wait until Monday. We'll be ok but I'm aggravated after spending $7500 on the whole system!
|
I would be upset, too, Vickie. And, I am. We still aren't able to move into our new home. There are still a few things the contractor has to do. Life goes on.
|
I'm so upset that I'm nauseous. At least I'm not eating.
|
For the challenge: on Thursday I walked an extra 40 minutes. Yesterday I walked miles and miles! I'm working most of this in by taking the subway only partway to work.
I have a great life here in the good weather. I can walk my dog in a peaceful ravine, then walk through blocks of nice neighborhoods to a more distant subway stop. Then I get back on the subway for a few stops, get off again and walk through a fancy shopping area to and through the university campus. It's quite special! Rhonda |
Rhonda-your walking situation sounds awesome! I can imagine why you love it.
I live on top of a very steep hill surrounded by thick woods. It's beautiful, but not conducive to walking. As I said yesterday, I ordered some dvd's. The program is called something like "ten minute workout". You rotate through yoga, cardio, and strength training for upper body and lower body. I'm hoping that it will be okay for my "bad" shoulder. I've never ordered anything from an infomercial, so I hope I haven't made a mistake. How was Maya? Getting to see her in person must have been really cool! |
Vickie, I hope they get it repaired and up and running Monday. I understand your frustration.
Rhonda, what a beautiful area you have for walking. Makes me smile. Sloan, your area sounds beautiful, too. I have a question. I remember seeing a small black bear in Tennessee when I was a young girl. Do you have any near you? What wildlife do you have? As to my walking? We have 2 acres of flat, open space except for our manmade hill (due to new pond). I walk all over it dragging long long waterhoses. I also walk around checking blooms and growth. I'm loving being back in the country. |
Sandra-I am in Northern Middle Tennessee. The bears are more in East Tennessee. On our property we have seen red fox, deer, rabbits, raccoons, skunks, and turkeys. I love looking at the animals that come up in our yard. The turkeys are especially interesting as they sometimes roost about 30 feet up in the trees. I've never seen them fly up, but have seen them so high in the branches. It is pretty comical! When it comes to plants, I am lazy. All of my plants are in pots on the deck; easy to water.
Vicki-Is your ac new? If it is, I'm sure they will make it right. Don't worry. Angela-are you floating? Let us know how you are! Hope the rest of you are having a great Saturday |
A few weeks back, I bought a bicycle with the intention that I would use it to little errands, like to the grocery store, video store, and such. So far, so good -- and even better, I really enjoy it! As an unexpected bonus, I have stopped over-shopping in the grocery stores: I know I'm now limited to two paper bags, one for each saddle bag, so I can't go crazy shopping.
|
My brother and I took my dad to the zoo today. I walked more than I walked in a long time. My knee was quite sore when I was done (never sat down once in the 2 hours we were there), but it is feeling alright now. So I did get in some more exercise today. We weren't walking at a fast pace but there were lots of stairs and just walking for me is a chore.
