Just thought of a question I have been meaning to ask.....:?:
Do some people have to drop their calories below 1200 to lose??? I just weighed and I am up a pound. All week I have done 1200 calories and walked 1 1/2 hours in the morning. What is wrong with me??? |
Nancy, do not despair. I have the same thing happen to me. Give it time, and maybe add three days of aerobics.
I can get through a day on 1000 calories, but I just can't sustain that. Maybe cut some more carbs, if possible. There's nothing "wrong" with you. It's just a matter of coming to understand your metabolism. And, yes, Paula, the car is now worth 5000, if not more by the time we actually get it back  Rhonda |
Nancy, that is strange. Are you getting in all your water? Are you eating a lot of sodium? I don't know what to tell you except just keep going and it will come off. You might have hit a plateau and maybe you aren't eating enough? I'm not sure.
|
Nancy, just hang in there. Your body will drop the weight if you don't give up.
|
Thanks!! I figure whether or not I am losing, the eating healthy
and exercising has been good for my health and mood. So I will stick with it. Better to be an in shape and cheerful fatty than an out of shape and grumpy fatty , right ?? |
Thank you so much ladies! I can't wait to try that recipe out...
Any idea on substitute for the oats? Not sure I can find them easily here in Saudi Arabia.... |
OK, just lost what I wrote! ARGGH!.
Dad continues to improve. He will be in the hospital for a while, but he is responding to the antibiotics. Theywill ge the results of more tests back today. Thank you all for your prayers! Well, today is field trip day. Going with dd's preschool class to the zoo. Should be fun, its a great zoo. Just no looking forward to 45 minutes on ayellow school bus! Oh well. Noussa, glad to see you again. Hope all is well. Sorry, i don't know of a substitution. Coco, have fun camping. I hope the weather is good for you. Its supposed to be beautiful here this weekend. Sandra, whenwill the electricity be turned on? Hope its soon so you can get settled. Nancy, don't give up! Try lowering the carbs, that works for me when I plateau. Frouf, Vickie, Angela and Tracie, thinking of all of you. Well, got to get ready to go -- need to get the back pack together. BBL |
Nancy, that is the right attitude. There is an expression from Zen philosophy that I think of a lot: "chop wood, haul water." Essentially it means that what it is all about is very simple. So, chopping wood and hauling water are not so glamorous but they must be done. So: eat well, move more, drink water!
Hi Noussa..glad to hear from you and hope all is well. I can't think of anything that would substitute either. Paula, I want to come on the day trip too! Rhonda |
Nancy-you may not be eating enough! Sometimes when we are eating too few calories, our metabolism slows down (starvation mode). There are some good calorie calculators available on the net.
Also, you may try some light weight training. Sometimes it increases metabolism. Don't go overboard or you won't be able to move. Just start slowly. Hope the rest of you gals are doing well! I'm hangin' in there. Did not go to wi this week because of DH's surgery. Will go next week, so I hope I see a loss. I'm planning to try some of the great recipes you all have posted, too. I had a thought about the substitution for oats. Could you process Barley so the grains are not so large and use that? I don't know if barley would be hard to find, but if it's available, you might give it a try. :hug:Sloan |
Noussa...you have a great question about a sub for the oatmeal. I may try experimenting. I thought about how the oatmeal is simply a rolled whole grain,
which makes me wonder if puffed wheat would work. I also thought of puffed rice but most of that is white rice. Do they make a puffed brown rice??? They should!! I like experimenting the kitchen so I will let you know if I get anything else to work that is core. Tejas... I love that saying "chop wood, haul water" I will put that on my frig. I do tend to complicate /over analyze things then not follow thru. :thanks: I have come up with 100's of cleaning schedules for my house but usually don't use them . I think I would rather work on a schedule than clean. Paula...go on as many field trips as you can when they are little. My oldest is going to college in the fall and those preschool field trip pictures and memories are so precious to me. Thanks everyone for you encouragement. I am super thrilled right now :flow2: despite the weight not moving because I had been a little depressed this winter but now I am feeling GREAT :cheer2: The :running: has been a goal for a long time!!! |
Noussa, the oats are actually the substitute for flour. But maybe sloanie is on to something regarding the barley. You know the oats, are just rolled oats, like you make for oatmeal. It's core and a good filler.
Sandra, hope you get your electricity on soon! Paula, I'm so glad to hear that your dad is doing better! But I'll continue my prayers, just to make sure. Nancy, you've got the attitude that will get you to your goal! Keep it up and it will come off eventually. Maybe your body is adjusting to what you've already lost and needs a little time to start losing again. Coco, hope you have a good time camping. I will be going up north to my dbf's cottage, so I'm sure it will be fun. Just hope I can stay op! Rhonda, Sorry to hear about your car expenses! That's quite expensive. Hope you don't have any more trouble with it! |
Great news, dad is doing really well. He is going to rehab for a few days before going home - to help get his strength back. He is being moved tomorrow. All the tests came back having improved. Thanks again to all of you!!!
Well, the zoo was fun. DD pretty much ran from animal to animal. The one thing she wanted to see were the tiger cubs. They were out and playing when we got to their cage. Very cute. It would have been more fun if it wasn't 55 degrees and drizzling!! But we only had 2 hours, so it wasn't too bad. Kept all core as well. Now I'm taking advantage of the rest of the afternoon. My cleaning lady was here this morning, I've got a load of laundry in, dd is playing on line and I'm sitting and relaxing. So, as Sandra says -- Life is good. |
"Chop wood. Haul water." I like that. Thank you, Cuz for posting it for us.
We still are w/o electricity in our new home. It's getting harder for me to stay in good spirits but I don't think it would do any good if I cried or something. On a positive note--the condo is cool and comfy. Life is good. Nancy, I like your attitude. Keep on keepin' on. Paula, the field trip sounds like a blast. I'll bet dd had a lot of fun seeing all the animals. That's great news about your dad. I am so happy for all of you. Rhonda, I admire the fact that you're handling the $$$$ for car repairs so well. I'd probably have a cat--but that wouldn't do any good, would it? |
OK, sit down everyone. DH picked up the car, drove it 3 blocks and the same thing happened all over again.
Poor soul. Can you imagine his rage when he had to take it back to the repair place/dealership? They said they had test driven it. NOPE, don't think so!!! Keep in mind that DH is a GM retiree and knows a lot about cars, so no one can really pull a fast one with him. He is going back to the dealer tomorrow to talk this whole fiasco over with them and pick up a car they offerred us to use. Then, I'll take him out to dinner tomorrow night to try to make it better! I just might overeat  :yikes: Rhonda |
