Bottled dressing suggestions?

  • I'm having a really tough time with salad dressings. If they're good, they're not core. I've been using my wpa's and making my own with olive oil, but I'd really like to save those for the goodies.
My favorite dressing is Greek, so if anyone's found one that's core and GOOD, I'm dying to find out!
    Also open to other types.

    Thanks!
  • I am having the same problem . I am trying the ranch mix this week with skim milk and low fat mayo. I will let you know if I find any good recipes...but who has time to have to make your dressing right!!!
I found that if I get the good blue cheese dressing I can mix it with water
(1/2 water) and it still has great flavor and it covers the salad easier
because it is thinner and I can use less actual dressing this way.
  • Check lables -- any ff dressing is core. But there may be others that will surprise you. I found a ceaser dressing that is core -- no non-core ingredients. The big thing is no sugar. I think if there is olive oil, then the dressing can count as my oil for the day. Try checking the whole foods/natural foods ailse. I've found that those tend to not have a lot of fillers. HTH
  • Thanks, Paula. I know they're out there, and I've tried many. I was asking if anyone had any favorite ones they want to suggest...
  • The best ff dressing I have found is Catalina by Kraft. Also I like take light or ff sour cream and putting in a Hidden Valley Ranch dry packet and mixing it up. This is especially great on raw veggies. Also I used to make an oil, balsamic vinegar, lots of garlic, dijon mustard salt and pepper dressing that was pretty good too.
  • I like plain old balsamic vinegar with olive oil. I think that's the healthiest way to use my 2 tsp. of healthy oil a day because then it is not heated. I try to cook fat free and just have my oil on a salad. Yum!

But I do use wish-bone ff italian when I want to add some sodium and flavor to things, such as cold brown rice with steamed veggies (a sort of cold grain salad, I guess!) I just try to use it in moderation because I am trying to cut back on sodium and most fat free dressings are loaded with sodium.
