  • Hi all:

There are quite a few posts on last week's thread yesterday and today....don't forget to catch up.

    Write away!

    Rhonda
  • Hope you feel better soon Vickie,,,uggh Ive had strep throat its not fun!!
    Gargle gargle gargle
I was just watching Oprah on tv and Dr OZ was on. The two drs have written a book about staying young. Well one thing my mom always told me when everyone was sick in the house.....she said to Open your windows to change the air!~ Well the dr said the same thing~ He was referring to bacteria and contaminents etc that we bring in or are in the house from different sources. Apparantly new houses are sealed so tight now there is no air circulation,,,we are breathing in lots of bad stuff.......thank goodness my house is 100 years old...lots of drafts in it.. haha But that is one thing I do in the winter time when the sun is shining ~ I will crack a window for 5 mins and its seems to lighten the air to me.
Its trying to snow here..calling for about 8 inches of the stuff tonight..I hope it misses us. I still have to get out to walk. I asked dh to get me some special cleats that go on the bottom of my shoes for the winter so I can keep walking. Every year I slip and fall so Im nervous of breaking an ankle. Im hoping these will work.
Anyone else still doing the walking challenge?? Im still plunking away but not updating as much as I was.. I think Ive only missed about 6 days total since I started. Thats great for me..
    have a good one everyone
  • Patti, what about Yaktrax? They sell them alot of places online. http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail

I'm still feeling fluish. Jim is the one with strep like symtoms. He sees the ENT on Thursday for a follow up on his tongue. He's promised to mention that he keeps getting sore throats.

No exercise for me yesterday or today. I've laid on the couch all day and will continue to do so tonight. It's cold here and we are going to freeze tonight. No snow though. I hope it misses you, Patti.

I saw Doctor Oz the other day. It was a good show and I'm sure it is also a good book.
  • Patti, I saw Dr. Oz today on Oprah. I thought everything he said was very interesting. I am impressed with your dedication to walking. You go, girl!

Sorry it's snowing and cold, Vickie and Patti. It was 80ish here today. We have a cool front coming through tonight. tomorrow's to be in the 60's. After a couple of days the temps will be back up. We worked in the yard all day today. I planted, pansies, iris, daylillies, daffodils, and something else I can't remember what it's called. Oh! I also planted some violets.

Guess we'll go to WW in the AM. David's not coming to work tomorrow so we should have time to go to WW then on to Ft. Worth to buy some pecan trees.

Got to go. We're having sf/ff banana pie.
  • I'm pretty excited. I recommitted to WW last week after feeling like I want to give up, but after a week of hard work I was down 2.6 today, so I'm pretty happy.
  • Hi ladies.

I'm feeling pretty down because today was bad. I was on the road for work all day, and I went to McDonalds. And no, I didn't get a salad. I got McNuggets and fries. Then had cereal for dinner. Bad all around. I didn't have time to really get to the store this weekend, so I'm feeling very unprepared for the week ahead.

    *sigh*

I'll get back on track. I will.
  • Hey all

We need to keep our spirits up to ward off any temptations. I find that I can do really well for 3 days max and then I just cheat! It's like my body is craving that nasty fat/salt high and I just can't resist! I think that the best part of being a part of this support group is that I don't have to beat myself up over it every time. I just listen to the advice we all give each other...pick myself up and move on. I get another chance to do it right at the next meal. (and usually when I get the McNugget's and fries out of the way I can think clearer and make good choices the next time.) I say satisfy the craving and get back on track. As long as we are moving toward our goals and not away from them a little cheat day won't completely dismantle all of the hard work we have done.

I am planning an amazing formal (black-tie) dinner for my husband and I and three other couples in our house on December 1st. How many times do we really get to dress to the nines in an evening gown. I rarely get to do it other than at a wedding and even then weddings are getting less and less formal. So that is my goal...lose the 10 pounds by the end of November and get into a slinky sexy evening gown!
  • HI!!
    Just a quick check in.
    Thinking of each of you.
Weigh in I stayed the same. So have to really try and get back on track this week.
    Will gotta go.
    coco
  • Good advice, Lytricia. Sometimes we do need to take care of those cravings then get right back on track. I love your idea of a formal dinner. Kewl!!!!!!

Nancy. That's a very very good loss.

Coco, I think maintaining is good. Congratulations.

    Rhonda, how was your day?

Vickie, I hope you and Jim are feeling better.

Eggie, dust away, girlfriend. I'm dusting, too.

Curtis and I went back to WW this AM. We each gained about 4.5 lbs. Me--4.6 and him 4.4. I'm going to quote Curtis. "We chose to gain this week."
    :
  • Yes, it is all about getting up again. I seem to really want to snack these last few days. I'm trying to stick to fruit.

I'm lucky because I really do not crave fried foods; it's chocolate that gets me. I also like a glass of wine now and again. So, I'm working on having much less of each. I think it takes a while to teach your body new ways.

Nancy. Keep up the good work.

Lytricia, what a great idea and goal.

So, Lytricia and I are experiencing a real November in Toronto day: grey, chilly, windy and rainy. You know the poem says that April is the cruelest month, but I think it's November. brrrrr...the wind and rain go to the bone.

OK, Sandra, next week will be better after all that planting you have been doing. (BTW, I have a picture of you from 1952! DH dug it out...for those who don't know, Sandra and my DH are first cousins.)

Have a good day tomorrow everyone!

    Rhonda
  • I went to WW today and stayed the same. I'm ok with that. We feel ok but not great. We are still going on our boat trip tomorrow to kick off our anniversary celebration. We have two dinners and a buffet this week so I'm going to be as good as I can at all the other meals except for those 3.

I hope you are all doing well. I don't know what's wrong with me but yesterday and today I just did NOT want my water. What's up with that?

I'm not sure when I can be back since we are booked almost solid between now and Saturday.
  • Rhonda, what's the picture? Could it be the one with all 4 cousins in combat jackets/caps? My rear is sore today. I guess I'm getting more exercise than I'd thought.

Vickie, 'HAPPY ANNIVERSARY"! Sounds like you and Jim have a fun week planned. Enjoy every minute. I'm glad you went to WW. Maintaining is like getting older--beats the alternative. I think anytime we maintain we've really lost cuz we didn't gain. Make sense?

We're making about our 5th trip to Lowe's this week later this AM. They will be knowing us by first names soon. I am going to buy about a dozen bags of top soil. Later today I'll run the roto tiller then plant more bulbs and the rosebushes/gardenia. I have already planted about 100 bulbs in natural settings. What I plant today will be in "official" beds.

I was 100% core yesterday using only 3 wpa's. I snacked on fruit last night and didn't even eat popcorn. Life is good.
  • to Vickie and Jim. DH and I have our FIRST wedding anniversary on the 25th of November. Of course, we had our first date in 1960!

Sandra, this is a school picture, just you, dated 1952...you were/are a cute thing! You're wearing a plaid dress or jumper.

I worked from home today. I need to do that sometimes, just can't face going in to the office and can work electronically. That's a good thing about the new age we're in.

I've been extremely good today also. I was going to go this morning but I slept in and missed the class! Well, I'll do floor exercises. I've started doing the ones in YOAD book. I have others that I like, and I combine them with free weights. So, while I moan and groan about not getting any I'm not being a total slouch. I'm still walking at least 2-3 miles everyday. Sometimes, it's up to 4-5 miles.

Today I am also starting back on trying to have only 1200 calories. That is difficult, but it seems to be all that moves the scale. I'm a 6 foot tall woman trapped in a 5 ft. 4 in. tall body!!!

Today, the first snowflakes! Did you see them Lytricia..you had to look fast, they didn't last. It wasn't even freezing outside, but down came a few flakes.

BBL maybe...I hope you're all having a good day!

    Rhonda
  • Hi Rhonda - Yes I did see the snowflakes! We live just a little north of the city - Newmarket - and we actually had to brush off about 3-4 cm from the cars in the morning. It stayed on the ground until about noon and the rooftops are still snowcapped now. I can't really say that I dislike the snow, we were in the hot tub when it started to come down last night and there's nothing like that feeling of the scorching water on your body and the cold snow on your face and head!
  • Hi Everyone
Well we had a few snow flurries today.
    Not much happening here.
Will have to go and read the post. Didnt do that yet.
Ok just went and read the post.
VICKIE HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! Hope you have a great boat ride. Glad you and hubby are feeling better.
ONTARGET How are you doing. Did you get all the bulbs planted. I bet your place is going to be beautiful when all the plants are blooming.
TEJAS How are you doing. Hope you had a good day at home.
Well ladies I am going to get off here. The Country Music Awards will be coming on here in a little bit. And I want to watch those. But have a couple of other things I need to do before that.
So hope everyone had a great day. Thinking of each of you.
