New Member Trying to Get Serious!

  • Hello my fellow dieters! I've just discovered the site and am really glad to find it. Its so inspirational to see how much weight people have lost and I'm so impressed with the commitment people here have shown to their weight loss goals. Keep it up everyone!

I have always been in fairly good shape, though I've certainly always had to watch my weight and to work out to stay in shape. I was on the high side for me (a size 10 or so) when I got pregnant and just blew up from there. Four months after having my beautiful baby I am 32 pounds above my ideal weight. Luckily 1/2 the weight I gained (30 pounds) was gone within 2 weeks of the birth, but the rest is really sticking.

I've been trying to watch what I eat but there are times when I am constantly hungry. I haven't exactly been disciplined and am probably consuming around 2000 calories a day. So I've decided to get serious! I ordered Diet To Your Door, a delivery service that sends 3 meals and 2 snacks. The meals are frozen but they seem like fresh healthy food that is unprocessed. We shall see... I will get this 5 days per week and will keep you all posted on the food. If anyone here has tried this service, I would love to hear your opinion about it.

I see most of you are on nutrasystem and other national diets, but I would love to hear your feedback on being on such a low amount of calories (the diet I will be starting claims to give between 1100 and 1400 per day). Dontcha always get hungry?? Where do you get the energy to work out? Perhaps you get used to it after a little while? I have a feeling I'll start out that week starving and acting very grumpy. I'll let you know.

Wishing you all the best of luck with your weightloss goals!
  • Hi! just wanted to welcome you to the site and wish you well on your program! please do keep us posted!

i'm going to sign up with Jenny Craig in January as soon as we move to our new house.. can't afford it til then ... i'm really really excited about it and can't wait to get started!
  • Hi there,

I did Jenny Craig for 2 weeks, 1200 calories, too expensive
then Nutrisystem 1200 calories, 2 months, less expensive but still expensive
now i'm counting calories with the help of my-calorie-counter.com
    1200 caloires.

    Still losing weight.
    starting weight-215
    current weight-186
    goal weight-160

    started 7/1/2006

The most important thing is to get yourself motivated, and get your mind set,
I truly needed at the time-help with portion control, and Nutrisystem really helped me better understand portion control, and snacking, eating every 2-3 hours, eating fruits, veggies, protein, etc etc, and doing everything you can to increase your activity level-even just taking more time looking around the grocery store, parking farther away from stores, etc

    *hugs*
    Jenny
