Don't hate me for being dense!!!

  • So I've read all the threads about Ranch Dressing (I know, I know! It's SUCH the asked question). I just want to know what your thoughts are on this as well.

My all-time favorite salad dressing in the world is Gregg's Savory Ranch (bought at Costco). Here are the ingredients and nutritional content. Please give me your opinion as to whether this should even be had or not. It has low saturated fats, no sugar, no trans fat BUT one of the ingredients is corn syrup which makes me think it's a no-no.

I usually have V&O on my salad but I would love to be able to switch it up occasionally with the Gregg's Ranch. I just don't know.

    Thank you, Chickies!
  • I think it works fine since it has less than 3 grams of sugar. I don't think the added sugar matters for SBD as long as it is less than 3 grams per serving. The key for me for salad dressing is MODERATION in portion size.

It does have a lot of fat, some saturated, so be vigilant with measuring it out!

I find if I toss the salad in the dressing in a bowl before eating it I use about half as much. I have also been known to use a tablespoon of a creamy dressing with a little bit of light Italian and toss it before eating to cut some of the calories.

Also, when I use a full fat dressing I watch what I put on my salad (no nuts, cheese, avocado) so I don't get crazy with the fats!
  • I would watch it with the MSG in there. Maybe dip your fork into the dressing, and then get a forkful of salad? Maybe once a week as a treat?

Just trying to be truthful and supportive!
  • Thanks, chickies! You're all saying basically what I was thinking! I'm going to use it as a treat or sparingly. That's a great idea about mixing it, too.

And fortunately, even though the serving size is 2TB, I LOATHE a salad drenched in dressing so I typically only use 1TB. I did not become a fat chick by salad dressing, believe me.

Thanks for the feedback! I so appreciate it!
  • I love ranch too, Have you ever tried using the packages of ranch seasoning. Your suppose to mix it with milk and mayo (i think) but I used to just sprinkle it on my salad. They've also come out with vinegrette sprays, I've yet to try them, but what a great idea!
  • Those sprays are great, Christie! I love 'em! I haven't checked out their content yet to know if they're legal. Hopefully!
  • I hope so, I know I love the butter sprays
