MOUTHWASH causing a PLATEAU...?

  • I read somewhere about being careful using MOUTHWASH because it can cause a PLATEAU in some people.

In my over 20 years of on and off low-carbing I have never had any problems with this. I use Listerine and Listerine Breath Strips all the time to help counter the bad breath that can accompany a low-carb WOE.

For one, you don't swallow the stuff and even if you did swallow a little, when you go from eating several hundred grams of carbs and sugars per day to about 20 or 25 per day, how can a little mouthwash cause you to stall? Again.. I use it all the time, and have never had a problem.

    Thank You

  • I've never heard of that. Maybe the breath strips have carbs (sugar alcohols) in them? I can't imagine the mouth wash being a problem as you don't (or aren't supposed to) swallow it. I wouldn't worry about it unless you start to have problems.
  • Ive never heard of that....and have never had a problem with mouthwash stalling me. Or sugar free gums for that matter.
  • Ditto's never heard of that one but who knows. I mean I do remember my BIL who was an alcoholic drinking it b/c of the alcohol in it ICK ICK ICK (shaving lotion too) BLEH
