Another newbie!

  • Hi everyone! My name is Jen and I just started the South Beach Diet yesterday. Some of my online friends have started it and wanted some buddies to go through this crazy weight loss journey with, so I joined them. Today was my 2nd day and I've done great so far. I have been working out regularly for a few weeks now. I have a friend that comes over to work out with me and we keep each other motivated. I've worked out for 6 out of the 8 days of June so far. I use the FIRM for my workouts. I have probably every DVD they have ever come out with and I do something totally different every day to keep it interesting.

I was on Atkins a couple years ago and lost 20 pounds in 5 weeks. I dont know how that happened, considering my meals consisted of meat, lots of cheese, pork rinds, jerky, and more cheese. I had to stop because I got pregnant. I now have a 18 month old son and am ready to get healthy!!

I look forward to making friends here!
  • hi Jen, welcome to the forums here and to the beach. We're glad you could join us. Were also glad you have a number after your name as there are a few other Jens around here !!

Congrats on choosing SBD as your new lifestyle. Its a great way of eating for life. There are many experienced and helpful "losers" on the boards here who can answer any ?? you may have. Check out the stickies and FAQs and old threads, too.

Pull up a beach blanket and we'll send the cabana boys right over!
  • Welcome Jenn
  • Hey Jenn! I replied back to you on my post, but I didn't see this one until now! Sorry! Welcome! Are the other girls joining (or have they already joined) here too? I know that I said that I would help them too. I think this is a great place to do it since IDOB is about other topics. If not, tell them to come on over! I look forward to chattin' with ya' here!
  • Welcome, Jenn!

SBD is a really healthy way of eating. Your son can actually eat with you on this plan, though you want to have him in Phase III. Forming healthy eating habits for yourself now will really help your son as he gets older to form healthy habits of his own.

You can find more info in the FAQ stickies, and of course, you've read the book. Be aware that some people find that they don't have enough energy to exercise at their normal level during Phase 1, at least the first week. If you do, feel free, just pay attention to what your body is telling you and take it easy. In Phase 2, you can go back to the exercise you were doing...that definitely helps!
  • Welcome Jenn!
  • Jen, welcome to the Beach!
I hope it's still going well for you!
