  • Hi everyone, my name is Linda.
I'll try to post a link to my introduction, so I don't have to post the whole thing again

I suppose I am looking for just the right place for me!

  • Hi, Linda -- and welcome! You won't find anywhere a more supportive, encouraging, and motivating group than here at 100 lb. I truly feel like this community is so empowering and powerful. I can tell you that I consider some of these people to be a sort of extended family -- they were an integral part of my weight loss journey, and then continued to extend amazing support when I got diagnosed with cancer. I can't tell you what it's meant to me. You've come to the right place, Linda.
  • Welcome Linda ~ Sarah is right ~ the people are wonderful here. Glad to have you with us.
  • I technically had 99 pounds to lose when I started but I think we're both still welcome!
  • Nah 99 pounds is nothing go away!!!!! Only joking of course!!!! Welcome, you will never meet a friendlier more supportive bunch of people. I would never ever have stuck to my program without this support group!

And Miss Sarah I was only thinking of you yesterday, wondering how you were doing (and sending a few blessings your way!!!)
  • Thank you so much!
Thanks ladies...I feel the warmth already I really do!

So do you have any structured things that happen on a regular basis, like check in/weigh in days or anything like that?
Or are there challenges or something of that sort?

Just want to get a feel for the daily workings.

Also, I have a real problem with night-time eating. In a case like that..what have you done/do you do? Any tips for avoiding an all out binge? Or is someone usually on in the evenings who could talk one through it?

I've checked out the chat area of the site, but there's never been anyone there, are there scheduled chats, or can you find people in there anytime and I just can't figure it out?

OK, OK..I know...enough with the questions

I'm sure I'll think of more....but I'll curb the onslaught for now

  • Well, thanks for thinking of me, Kykaree! Very nice of you, indeed! Many thanks for those blessings -- did you hear that I'm in remission halfway through my treatment?? I am SO doing the happy dance!

See what I was talking about, Linda?
  • Welcome and glad you could join us. We do have a weekly weigh in thread and there is always a challenge or two going on. I have recently started doing a weekend challenge to help us all get through the tough part of the week. I usally start it on Wednesday so look for it tomorrow.

I am a night owl and if I'm around would be glad to help in any way I can. I work second shift so I'm always on when I get home at night after 12:30am and sometimes during the night when it's slow here at work.

I don't see a lot of people using the chat but once in awhile people will post a thread saying they will be in chat. Nothing regular though.
  • Thank you Howie,
I'll look for the challenge and weigh in.
It really feels great to be here

  • Hi and welcome. You've definitely come to the right place. It sounds like you know what happened the last time and you are prepared this time.
  • Thanks Barbygirl!

I do know exactly what happened last time but the thing is, I knew it at the time and still gave up.
It's that kind of mentality that I really want to battle this time around.
I think that is where this board is going to truly help me.

I'm so happy to have found you guys.

  • Question about early losses
    Hi everyone!

I joined 6 days ago and have really decided to dedicate myself this time to being healthy. I'm not going to starve myself, but take care of my body.

I have lost four pounds in these six days. I know that's not a healthy speed to lose, but I've pretty much only cut out my night time binges and made more sensible choices during the day.

I remember when I lost the 40lbs. a couple of years ago that I lost pretty quickly too (40lbs. in four months), it was about a pound a day in the beginning.

So, is it OK that this is happening without drastic measures? How many of you lost very quickly in the beginning and when did it start to slow down?

I can't say I'm too unhappy about it....it's truly motivating to actually see a difference.
I'd just like to hear some of your experiences with it too

    Any takers?
    (((hugs)))

  • I think most lose quicly when they begin. As long as you are eating healthy and getting enough calories I would not worry about how fast you are losing.
  • I agree with Howie. It's not uncommon for some to lose even 10 pounds or so that first week and then it usually will taper off within a week or two. Keep up the good work.
  • Thank You!!!!!!
