  • can you have couscous in phase 2 or 3 of SB and is it limited and does it have to be whole wheat?? Thanks!
  • Hi, Spryng, and welcome!

Are you in SAHM with Michelle? She's fabulous!

Yes, you can have couscous in Phase 2 and 3. You need to limit it to a serving at a time, which is 1/2 cup. If you feel you can have 2 or 3 servings a day, try it. Each person is different, so you'll only know if you try. But start out with one and see how you do.

I have never seen WW couscous, but if you can find it, by all means, try it. In the meantime, you can use the regular kind, but the GFGCG lists it as "limited" which we have taken to mean "once a week".
  • Yes I LOVE Michelle too! She really cracks me up!
Thanks for the info on couscous.. I am not a SB dieter I am on ww, but ww just started a new plan called Core and it is alot like southbeach but no one could agree on couscous, lol... our book says we can have it unlimited and that it did not have to be whole wheat (whereas all other pasta does, so it didn't make any since) so someone said to see how it was done on SB to get the right idea... so that is what I ddi! TY for replying and looking that up for me!
  • Yes...someone said to me that couscous is actually pasta, which I had never known. It doesn't make sense that it's not WW, but... Some of this stuff can make your head spin if you analyze it too closely. Trust me...I do that all the time!

Good luck with WW! I hope the new program is great! I would think that you wouldn't want to eat couscous unlimitedly...it is pretty caloric and such. Just my thought. You know your plan better than I do.
  • I totally agree with you about over analyzing certain aspects of any diet, lol. Your stats are amazing BTW!! Have you lost all that on SB? But I think I will limit couscous just like other pastas and try to find some whole wheat ones. TY for your help!!
  • I can get whole wheat cous-cous here in Canada so I'm sure you will find it.
  • I'll have to look again, my local stores doesn't have ww couscous and the walmart supercenter doesn't either... but I know it is out there, lol. I'll find some sooner or later. Thanks!
  • Ruth, yet another case of things you can find in Canada but not in the states! (like Tim Bits!) I haven't seen it anywhere here, either, but this is hardly an enclave of health food fanatics! Now, if I looked in Ithaca...

Spryng! Yes, all on SBD. It's really the plan for me! : Your avatar is gorgeous!!! You look like Catherine Zeta-Jones, but better!
  • Hey, Laurie! Let me know how many boxes you want and I'll send you some! That goes for anybody else too. Poor, deprived Americans!
  • I would offer to send you some ICBINB spray, but I think it's Frankenfood.

Ruth, you are a sweetie. Let me see what I can find down here and then I may take you up on that? Any American delights you are interested in? :
  • Hodgson Mill sales whole wheat couscous online:

  • Oooh...our store carries that brand...wonder if I can convince them to carry WW couscous? Hmmm...

    Thanks, Sarah! :
  • Okay, what are Tim Bits?
  • Oh man, I opened up a can of worms!

Tim Horton's is a coffee shop/doughnut shop that also sells fast food sandwiches, etc. It's definitely a Canadian thing. Anyways, they call their doughnut holes "Tim Bits". They are way too good, as is everything at Tim Horton's. Oy! Thank goodness they are on the other side of the border!!!
  • We have Tim Horton's in Michigan, too! They started popping up all over the place a few years ago... A gift from our Canadian neighbors, eh?
