  • DH is,sick. He didn't feel good yesterday when we came home. He never tells me his symptoms, just says "I feel terrible.". So far I've figured out that he has a low grade fever. A slight cough. Very cold. He has the heat up high and has a heavy throw over him. His temperature came down and he's not as cold. He went to bed now at 7:45. I' m going to sleep in my recliner out nere. He wanted to test for Covid but I think its too soon. We have those tests from the government but he forgets where he put them so I guess I will look for them tomorrow. He thinks he got sick from someone yesterday but it doesn't happen that fast.

    My husband doesn't care about food. He's happy with French fries or donuts. I think the way to his heart is through a different organ a little lower.

  • Carol Sue, I think that goes for most men. I'm sorry your DH is sick and hope it isn't the covid or anything serious. I hope it will be one of those 24 hr things and he will be better tomorrow. Hope you don't get whatever it is.

  • DH made me go to bed with him. He kept coming out for me. I am afraid I will get sick but I did it. I didn't get much sleep. He didn't either. I don't think its covid. I think its a cold or the flu. He's mostly tired and achy. Temp around 99. Slight cough. No headache, no sore throat. He keeps saying he's dying but he's been telling me that for 40 years. Last night I noticed he has all kinds of OTC cold medicine in the cupboard where he keeps the coffee, but he will never take it. If he goes to Urgent care they will give him meds but he won't take them.

    Today I want to eat a turkey sandwich with mayo. I really love turkey. I don't know when I will get brave enough to get on the scale.

    DH got up around 10. He still feels terrible but much better than yesterday. I think that's a good sign. He went back to bed now.
  • Carol Sue, I pray your DH will continue to improve and that you won't get sick.

    I understand about the scale. I weighed this morning and weight was 182.2 and FBG was 108. I said I hadn't gained much but when I put my weight for this week on MFP, I had to face the truth that I actually gained 3.3 lbs since last Saturday. I suppose that is still good. I will take it be thankful it wasn't more. I'm back on track today and we are halfing a NY steak for dinner. I had fruit and lentils for breakfast. I will finish the day with a protein shake to make sure I get my protein and calories will be just under 1200 calories. My goal is to do this from now till Christmas day. I plan to get some Christmas treats I like and r just count them into my daily calories of no more than 1200 for each day. Christmas dinner is always ham so I should be able to get through the holidays with calories in a better daily calorie range than I did for Thanksgiving. Maybe no more than 1400 that day.

    I didn't get up until almost 9 am which I was trying not to do with the new time change but the bed was so warm. For some reason I am tired today. So may take a short nap before dinner. I don't like to do that because it makes me sleepy when we have to go to the store once a week at this time of day.

  • DH is up and hungry. I guess that's a good sign. He ate some chicken soup. He said the soup didn't taste like anything but he could taste the noodles. Maybe I should have cooked extra noodles for it. I know he likes noodles. I hope he continues to improve and I don't get sick. Other than sleeping last night I've stayed away from him. His slight fever is gone.

    I did get on the scale and I am up 2.2 lbs from Thursday morning, before any eating occured. I think its water weight from the carbs in the stuffing.

    I wake up each day at 4 and usually go back to sleep until its daylight. 6 or 7. I like to sleep til 9 to get the extra sleep but that takes away from my time in the morning.
  • Carol Sue, Glad your DH feels like eating. Hope he is practically over whatever he had and you won't get it.

    I over did my calories today. That is the only thing about eating off plan is it is difficult getting back on plan. Not sure I will even weigh tomorrow. Headed to bed.

  • I got on the scale this morning and it said 182. I knew that was impossible since I was 187 yesterday. Got on again and its 186, so I'm down 1 lb of fluid from yesterday. I don't know why my scale did that.

    DH is feeling better. He got up early this morning and made coffee but then he started feeling bad and came back to bed. He did not go out to play the lottery yesterday so I know he's really sick. I hope he improves by tomorrow to drive to Wal-Mart 5 miles away. I hate to drive to Walmart.

    I want to cook eggs but he won't eat my eggs. He only likes the way he cooks them. Maybe he won't want eggs. Pastaroni or Mac and Cheese. He says we don't have the soup he likes but he ate it before and said its good. I think his taste is off.

    We are tired of turkey so the dog gets the rest.

    I don't think I will get sick. I feel fine so far. I wonder when he will want to go to the casino.
  • My weight stayed the same 182.2 lbs but my FBG was 96. I wish I could figure out what I do right when this happens. I am back on track this morning, but while I'm not doing keto or extreme low carb, I am doing low carb today. For today I have all my micros balanced to the best of my ability as somethings on MFP is tricky. I want to eat the foods I want and like at the same time so I believe tracking and planning portions in advance is the key to making this happen. I didn't get up until 9 am. My weight is usually lower around 8 am, but I seem to need that extra hour to get my rest, plus I think that makes the difference in the FBG.

    I'm not sure how I am supposed to eat because I seem to need a little more carbs but not high carb and extreme low doesn't work for me either. I just need to figure out a plan that gets me around these holidays successfully. I just pray I can figure it how.

    Carol Sue, Your DH probably just needs to rest to make sure he is recovered so he doesn't have a relapse of whatever he's fighting. I pray he will continue to feel better, but not rush it.

    Good for you being down 1 lb. I hope we both can get things working for us between now and Christmas. I think we both have our goal and it is just executing it.

  • DH ate French toast around noon. I had 2 fried eggs and 1 slice of toast. I quit buying bacon because I only want 2 slices and DH cooks too much. He always cooks too much when he cooks. I eat it because its too expensive to waste. I don't need that.

    He also went out to get the mail. We never went out for it yesterday.

    Trish, even when your blood glucose is up a bit it doesn't go up by much except the day you ate all the dressing. There are a lot of things that affect it. For me, stopping eating at 4-5 helps but I don't stay up late. I think yours was low after eating the cheese and ham snack in the evening because it was low carb and high fat. Try that again and see what happens.

    Another thing, how many times do you take Berberine per day and what time? That could make a difference.

    Today I received the control solution for my new meter. I forgot I ordered it.
  • Now that bedtime is coming near, DH says he's feeling worse. I feel sorry for him, but this is why I'm not getting sleep. I am feeling a bit achey with a runny nose but not actually sick. Step daughter says her DH is feeling sick, too. This is why I've been avoiding family gatherings for the past few years.

    I made a dish we like with ground beef, potatoes, green beans and potatoes. We both ate a small portion and I threw half of it away. I'm hope DH feels well enough tomorrow to go to Walmart. He went out to play the lottery at a store 1 mile away. But then took a nap.
  • Carol Sue, I see on FB that DH SIL and her Hubby are sick. She has felt bad she said for about a week and now he is not feeling well. Her niece wrote on FB that her DH made soup for her because she isn't feeling well. They all live in FL. I don't feel sick but I feel like everything I eat just lands in my gut and sits there. DH and I both feel like everything we eat ends up making us feel overloaded. I tried dividing my food up and eating my salad for supper and ate 2 meals 5 hrs apart. We don't feel sick, just feel stuffed and feel tired after we eat. I told him we need to eat light for a few days. Can soup would taste good, but not low carb.

    I'm sorry y'all are feeling so bad. I hope it isn't serious and y'all feel better tomorrow.
  • DH and I both feel terrible. My chest feels all congested. I'm achy and feel like someone hit me with a baseball bat. Tylenol makes me feel better. We didn't go to any family gatherings for 2 years and we should not have gone this time.

    I will try to check in every day.

    We feel ok enough to go to Wal-Mart because we need things and we don't have anyone to go for us. I want to hurry and get right back home.
  • I am so sorry about that. I was hoping you wouldn't get it and he would feel better. I will continue to pray for y'all. Do check in when you can.

    My weight is back down to 181.2 but FBG was up to 109 this morning. The salad with ham in it didn't help with the FBG. Not hungry right now and I have this issue I had years ago that I can't stand the smell of raw meat. Never knew what caused it then and not sure what is causing it now.

    Hope you can get in and out of Walmart and get what you need and maybe getting out will help you feel better.

  • I got the things I needed but forgot mayonnaise so I stopped at Dollar General. When he came up me the watched my soaps then went to bed. I c not know if I slept but I rested. DH is,feeling better but he got sick before me. He is watching Monday nights but football so I will stay up with him for a while.

    I ate toast for breakfast and chicken noodle soup for dinner. I can taste it so thats good.

  • Carol Sue, Glad y'all are feeling better and pray you will keep improving. You ate pretty much like I did today. I made 2 sl SLMG toast and put PB on one of them and just sprayed flavored butter on the other. I had chicken noodle soup and fruit for dininer and am drinking a protein shake.

    We will go to Sam's and the local store tomorrow. We have to go to Home Depot for DH to see if he can find a part he needs to replace wires to the car battery before they go bad. Haven't tracked today and not sure if I will as I don't think I had near enough calories for the day.

    Get a good nights sleep dear friend and heal.
