  • We got home late from the casino and I slept late today. As soon as I got up DH swept me out the door for breakfast and Walmart. I gulped down a cup of coffee and went, hungry or not. I had oatmeal and it was delicious but I wasn't hungry. I forgot to get my bread at Wal-Mart but I can get it at the local grocery. I can get lettuce too. They were not on my list so I forgot. It won't kill me to eat DHs toast for a day or 2.

No scale for a few days. Still feel fat. I want to ride my bike today but I got lots of steps at Walmart. I was all over the store, pharmacy, grocery and paper products and dog treats. I do great when I have the cart. I'm a little wobbly without it.

I was reading a Dr on Twitter about not eating high fat if you have fat to burn. I'll have to Google him to see if there's more.
  • I just typed a whole message and lost it.

Weight stayed the same today so thank God my over eating yesterday didn't show on the scale. Weight was 184.4 and FBG was 109 so I think I have over did the carbs. Although I'm not doing low carb, I would like to keep the net carbs under 100 grams. So far today I've had only 2 meals. I've decided not to plan meals ahead of time like I always have. In fact, today I ate what I wanted and then tracked it on MFP. Breakfast was 2 sl SLMG toast with PB on them. DH decided to get LJS since we were on that side of town so we come home and I added a salad to that plus milk and keto ice cream bar. My total calories at this time are about 1089 and net carbs 85 g so I'm good if I decide not to eat anything else today. I haven't been eating enough veggies so I have yellow squash or zucchini that I can eat for a small snack if I need it later. I remember in SC when I first started eating zucchini and found that I loved it that it was a good veggie for lowering FBG.

Carol Sue I have heard that if you eat fat that your body only burns the fat that you eat and not the fat on your body. I will be interested to hear what that doctor says. I don't know if you remember but I always thought that was the reason the shots I took for weight loss at bariatrics didn't work. The dietician told me that I could do keto while taking the shots but I think she was wrong. I think if I had been doing WW while getting the shots that I would have lost weight.

Hope everybody is having a good day.
  • Trish, I didnt really find more information about eating fat. That is a very controversial subject in the low carb world. I feel the way you do that I want to burn the fat my body has. WW is low fat and it worked great for you and some others. The comment this doctor made on Twitter was that you only need to increase protein and reduce carb to get into ketosis. If your body has high fat you don't need to eat high fat.

I think my friend lost her week but eating low calorie. She said she was counting carbs but she didn't eat very much. I don't think I could eat like she does. She doesn't cook and eats very little meat. She eats things like cottage cheese and yogurt, cold cereal for breakfast. She told me one week her food shopping bill was $15.

How do you eat your zucchini. Do you eat it raw? I heard that my neighbor grills it. I never know what to do with it. DH only likes it fried or in cake. I don't like it fried.

I made chili today and it was great! I've missed it. DH doesn't really like my chili but he eats it. Tomorrow we will probably eat out but I don't know where. That's when I will go to the local grocery for the things I forgot at Walmart. There are only a few things that I can only get at Walmart, DHs bread and my electrolyte water. I read that lemon water helps with gout so I bought more of the lemon packets I bought before. I don't like squeezing lemons, plus I can carry these packets in my purse and use them when I order water in a restaurant. I read that there can be bacteria on the rinds of lemons when you put slices in your water. I also bought some more frozen kale to have a couple times a week.

I'm up a little later than usual because I took a nap today. All that running around this morning did me in!
  • I slept well last night and got on the scale. 189.0. It hesitated at 188.9 but went to 189. Sooner or later I want to go lower. Most of my fat is in my midsection and I'm reading that's the easiest to lose. None of it seems easy to me, but I have thin thighs and butt but big belly.

I'm reading How Not to Diet. So far the book is about how eating has changed since 1960 when we all ate from scratch meals. Mothers started working and convenience foods developed. More junk food. People no longer eat 5 fruits and vegetables. He says you should read all this instead of just going to the back of the book. I think this guy is plant based, so I expect this book to be plant based too. I am all for plant based, but would not give up animal protein altogether. I want to see what he has to say.

The county next door to us is going back to mask mandate. Very few people wear masks anymore or social distance. This will cause protests. I still wear my mask, DH does not.

I ate a big breakfast at 10:30. I was hungry. We are going to Applebees where I will get soup and salad. DH wanted TX Roadhouse but I talked him out of it. I win! I win!!
  • Carol Sue There are so many things I liked about WW plan. I don't like doing FF but low fat isn't bad although I do eat fat sometimes. However, I still use the spray butters instead of real butter most of the time. Last night I put about 1/2 c yellow squash and 1/2 c zucchini together and nuked it with just a touch of butter. It was really tasty. FBG was back down to 101.

Scale bounced between 184.8 and 185.2 but settled on 184.8 which isn't bad either way because we had the LJS fish for our main meal yesterday. I recently bought a round steak and I plan to have that with a salad and half corn on the cob DH got from the frozen section. He didn't like it when I bought it before but I told him to get it because our tastes change as we get older and hopefully he will like it now. Plus it is half a serving instead of a whole cob. I take mine and spray it with Pam butter flavor type spray so no butter for me.

Carol Sue I honestly think I did better on my woe in SC because DH and I both ate a lot of fresh fruit and veggies. I think that is what I always liked about WW. I would probably like reading that book How Not to Diet because I think with the covid etc that it is important to eat more fruit and veggies to keep our immune system healthy.

I got my exercise up to where I want it... 20 minutes on bike, and 20 minutes of core/strength training. I want to keep it going at least 3 to 5 days a week.

Breakfast was 1/2 serving of oatmeal with 1/2 container of Greek Lite n fit yogurt and a banana with just a tsp of PB for flavor and 2 c coffee with creamer and stevia. I have food planned through supper but may not need to eat a 3rd meal. I just decided that since I seem to eat it that maybe I should just plan for it so I'm staying OP. I need to stop playing games with myself.

Hope everybody has a good day.
  • Trish, DH cooks eggs with butter, but I use the spray. But he usually cooks and I just eat them. They do taste better cooked in butter but the butter adds a couple hundred calories.

We ended up going to Texas Roadhouse so I didn't win. I was going to order the vegetable plate but it was as much as a chicken dinner. I got 7 chicken strips with baked potato and salad. I ate 2 chicken strips and half the potato. I stopped when satisfied.

  • I'm not doing very well eating carbs so may have to go back to doing low carb after all since I do better with it.
  • I was happiest y to see 188.0 on the scale this morning. I know these are recycled pounds but I just want down. I felt that I did very well just eating a small portion of my dinner. That's what I need. I need to learn to stop when I'm satisfied. Although my meal was very good, I don't need to eat it all just because its sitting in front of me.

Trish, I think it you eat carbs you have to do a short eating window. That's how it works for me. If you had a bad day, just get back on plan. You can do it!

Now this guy in the book is talking about fiber. I get very little fiber. I don't get whole grains except for occasional oatmeal and what's in my bread. I bought some lentil soup but otherwise the only beans I get are in chili, occasionally. He explained how fiber keeps you from absorbing all the calories, and fiber supplements don't do the same thing. They just help you poop! I need to figure out how to increase my fiber.

    ______________________________________________

The chapter about fiber makes the whole book worthwhile. It explains so much in a way I understand. Very convincing. Here's the thing. Kelly Ripa on Live with Kelly and Ryan must be Vegan. She has become very thin. Today she said she eats salad and vegerables, chick peas and something else I don't remember. But she doesn't look healthy. When she was on the soaps she seemed to weigh more, never fat, but not skinny like a stick. Her skin and hair looked healthier, but she was younger and a lot was probably stage makeup. She said she went to a restaurant and ordered something that sounded like a vegetable, but when it came it was a fish, and it was not thoroughly cooked. She didn't eat it. I love fish but it has to be cooked well. Flaky.

Also he talks about eating food that contains a lot of water. Fruits and vegetables. And if you blend a lot of vegetables together then add water to make it a soup it fills you up more with less food. Drinking water with your meal does not do the same thing because the body drains the water and keeps the food intact and your body absorbs more of it.

So I'm starting to think of all the places I can order soup and salad especially over the winter. Just about everywhere we eat.

By the way, that cream I bought doesn't seem to be doing anything. I bought a tiny jar, 1.5 oz, to try, because its pretty expensive. If I don't see an improvement soon I won't buy it again. I don't really know what its supposed to do but I don't see anything different. Maybe my skin was already perfect!! I should try it on my psoriasis.

  • Carol Sue YAY!!! 188. Down is down. Happy for you.

Well today that 185.8 stayed but not surprised the way I've eaten the past few days. FBG 106. So I need to get myself back OP. I think I would do better going back to some fasting even if it is only 16 hr fast, however the 19:5 would be much better.

Carol Sue I downloaded that book to my kindle today. What you are sharing sounds a lot like that diabetic cookbook I got years ago. It said the best way to keep FBG down is by eating fiber. I think that may be why WW SF plan is such a good plan. Fruits, some veggies which I suspect are the ones with lots of water and grains are 0 pt foods. I have really thought about going back to them. I would have to get books and info out to see. Of course that means using a lot of 0 g fat products and not sure about that. I will see what he says in this book. I have to say that I do like my 0 pt oatmeal when doing WW. So maybe I need to think about it again.

One thing is for sure, I know that I am not a high fat eating person and I really think eating all that fast food which lets face it is usually cooked in fat, is probably what caused my potty issues on our trip. I seem to be okay with fast food once or twice a week but everyday for a week was too much. When I fry anything at home, I drain the fat or pat it off of food so I don't eat it. I have always done that because DH#2 and I didn't like the fat. Come to think of it neither does DH. When I cook ground beef, I always drain and wash off the fat.

Lets face it when our mothers cooked from scratch they didn't worry about the fat. They used it for flavor and didn't go crazy with it and we didn't have a lot of fat people unless they over did the goodies or were big eaters. So I'm curious as to what the guy in this book says.

I go to the beauty shop tomorrow instead of Friday because beautician's Hubby races motorcycles and has a race they are going to. I wanted to start back to church this Sunday since DH and I have finally agreed on a place to go but I will have to see how my hair looks Sunday. I know vain isn't it? LOL

I had my eggs, bacon and toast this morning and have pork chops planned for dinner with a salad and asparagus for me and broccoli for DH. I would love to make this a 2MD. But we will see how it goes. Carol Sue when the weather gets cook, it would be easy for me to cook some homemade soup for 3rd meal but hard to think of soup with it as hot as it gets here.

    Have a blessed day everybody.
  • The only soup I make is vegetable soup. I used to make a big pot but we don't eat it all and it gets thrown out. DH always wants me to make a big pot "like his mother did" but he won't eat it after the first day. She had 5 boys! So I refuse. Just what we're going to eat plus a cup or two for the next day.

I told DH that I want to eat my leftovers from yesterday so he will make something for himself. I had so much chicken left over so I gave some to the dog. DH would never eat it! I tracked for the day and calories will be 1200 and 90 carbs. That's fine with me, a little high, but in 5-6 hours. My dinner will be 1 chicken strip and half a potato. Maybe I will cook some broccoli. Now that you mentioned asparagus I will buy some to cook on my grill pan. We both love it grilled.
  • I did 3 meals today and I did them within 6 hr eating window and I now plan to fast until brunch tomorrow.

Carol Sue I like to make vegetable soup too but I don't make big batches of it because I'm the only one who eats it. I like to make it with V-8 or tomato juuice and lots of veggies. We are going to Walmart tomorrow afternoon to get DH meds. I plan to get more fruit and veggies so I can eat more fiber foods.
  • Trish, I make my soup using a can of diced tomatoes with the juice and some bullion cubes for beef flavor, but then its not vegetarian soup.

I slept pretty good but didn't get on the scale because its early. I wanted to sleep later because we are going to the casino today. Maybe I will go back to bed. You did good with your eating window.

  • I've been looking at FB WWSF group. There are a lot of good ideas on there by one lady and I do miss some of the fiberous foods. I think I am going to go back to it and work at keeping within 6 to 8 hr eating window so I can get at least 16 hr fasts each day.

Weight this morning back down to 184 and I can't remember what the tenths were. It was either .4 or .6 and I think it was .4 but not sure. I was just so thrilled to see the 184 again. I feel like I'm back into control and back to myself after the long quick trip to FL last week. I got my hair done today and that helps too make me feel good about myself too. Walmart and KFC today so not sure how that will go. I will add some fiber to the meal and hope I can flush out the excess calories.

Carol Sue I hope y'all have a great day at the casino. Are you reading or playing or both today? I play poker on my pc and some days I do fabulously but then there are times when I lose like crazy which is no big deal since I'm not risking money. I'm one of those players that used to drive my now deceased BIL from previous marriage crazy. He knew if I was bidding that I had a winning hand. No poker face for me. LOL

Hope everybody has a great day.
  • Trish, I'm planning on reading today except I will play my free play. One time I played for 4 hours just on my free play and cashed out for $500. That is very unusual!! I am deeply engrossed in this book and will continue to read at the casino. It seems I will have to cut back on my eggs. I won't cut them out altogether. I will not cut out meat either but will cut back. I could eat differently if it wasn't for DH.

You are doing great, getting back to 184. I think you know what you are doing and are in control. What an inspiration!
  • I overdid the calories which I always do when we get KFC but I ate within a 7 hr eating window. So I consider that good.
