  • Well, it sure is Monday! It was a good weekend overall, though. I spent the day with the grandsons, 4 and almost 2 that live out of state. They were lots of fun but boy, are they ever active. We didn't see them all through the pandemic so now we are making up all that lost attention. I have to say that I feel like I can't get enough of them, either! Lunch was a really yummy Greek style falafel pita that wasn't on plan. It was very good, but not so good for being on plan. They were ordered just before we got there, so that was that, though. Back to it today, working down the sodium water retention, too. I'm back where I was last week at this time. Ugh!

Pattygirl, you are doing so well! I think your determination and motivation are going to have your doctor cheering you at your next visit for sure! I doubt very much that you will ever see the 200's again. I sure don't want to see them again, either. Moving and buying clothes has been so much better getting under 200 and I need to remind myself that it can only get better if I keep losing.

Muffin, you braved the Costco again! I hope you found some good buys. Rainy Sundays are meant for taking it easy, I think. We all need those days. Especially to have one on the weekend to recharge for the week. I should swing by there and get some romaine. They have such good prices on it and it is usually so nice.

I think that I probably need to drag my SB Supercharged book out and see if I can find myself some more motivation. Probably a brush up on the rules wouldn't hurt, either. I think there were some recipes in there, too. Maybe I will run across a good one. I hope everyone has a great Monday and that we all have good scale news to share tomorrow!

Hi to anyone reading and feel free to join our chat! We'd love your company!
  • ugh I'm starting to backslide as far as posting...and I need to keep it up because it does help! drank scotch with DH last night. I need to cut that out again as well....it's easy to start back in to doing it too much.

MJMS the xbox is the new console, I have had the PS4 for a few years I mostly play survival horror games...working on one right now called Outlast where you are a reporter inside of an asylum. It's SCARY. LOL I love it.

so far, just a protein shake and coffee this morning. anticipating a couple of water pounds from the scotch, yuck. I'll keep the diet really clean today to minimize that.

So OMG I actually was able to snag a PS5 this morning! I have been trying for months. ..it sells out online in minutes and there were more than a few times over the last few months where it was in my cart and then it disappeared trying to check out. The xbox was just as impossible, and I wasn't going to buy it but I just could NOT get the PS5 and got really lucky one day and now I will have both I wonder how long I'll play these games! I'm 50 now lol anybody else still play?

I'm getting hungry! thinking about some cottage cheese and avocado or an egg white scramble. back later.
  • Muffin I lived in So. FL for the first 4 yrs of my marriage to DH. I was born and raised here in Central TX but when DH#2 died and I met DH online 2 yrs later, we married and I moved there. We had both Costco and Sam's there and shopped at both. When we moved to SC, Costco was the closest to us and we had to go to Charlotte, NC to shop there. They had some great prices and offers and it was worth the trip once a month. We only have Sam's here and I miss some of the things I could get at Costco that are not offered at Sam's. Glad you were able to get in and out with no problem. The problem we always had at Costco was finding a parking place as they were always busy no matter when we went.

MJMS Enjoy those grandbabies. They do grow up so fast and kids now a days move on with their busy lives. I agree that losing that weight does make it easier to do things with them, etc. I hope you can get what you need to get motivated again. Boy do I know how that is. I really think I am doing so well right now is because I've been stalled for so long. I am on a roll right now and just hope I can stay motivated myself. I'm down .6 lbs today and so hoping to see 179 by next week if at all possible.

I love salads in the summer time so I am cooking lean ground beef patties for DH and me and will break mine up into a salad and add cooked asparagus and just turn it into a chef salad type meal. That is how I ate when I did SBD years ago. I like one meal dishes and which my picky eater Hubby just can't understand. LOL He has a granddaughter who is worse than him as she can't stand for her food to touch and when she was little wouldn't use the same utensil for all her food. I never knew anyone like that till I married him.

Syckgirlsfy I am 77 almost 78 yrs old and I still love my computer games. I actually think they are good for us especially in order to keep our mind sharp. It is odd memory but the day DH#2 died he had been working on a word puzzle and having difficulty getting one word to complete it. He was so excited when he finally got it and turned to me and said "Yes, I still got it. Those games you play on your computer don't ever stop playing them. They will help keep your mind sharp". I realized later that he was probably in the process of dying then but of course we didn't know it and was having a problem concentrating, but I have always felt it was something important for me to remember. At least I hope it is true. I'm sure you will continue since you enjoy it so much so go for it.

Hope we all have a great day today.
  • checking back in - had 1/2 cup cottage cheese with 1/2 avocado.

I'm about to go to Best Buy to pick up an order and then have lunch - I'm going to probably make a stir fry with the oven roasted turkey breast I bought from Costco on Saturday (it's a big breast that is just so good and I alternate it with the sirloin from there) and mushrooms, zucchini. Got some beautiful zucchini with my farm box order last week
  • Good morning, I hope everyone is doing good.

I had an early start today, oldest son has 1st officially driving class this morning. I hope he does ok the weather is not cooperating and he is very shy
Yesterday was a busy day, my sister-in-law and niece came to visit yesterday. We went to Bahama Breeze for lunch, I had 2 mahi-mahi tacos and skipped the sides. We didn't do much the rest of the afternoon since it was storming pretty bad.

I have to run now, but I will come back later this afternoon to read you all comments from yesterday.
  • My weight is still about the same today. Bah! I had a good eating day and a good walk yesterday, too. That scale better be better behaved tomorrow or we will be having a serious discussion!

Syckgirlsfv, lucky you to score that PS5! Did you go out and buy a lottery ticket too, while your luck was running so high? I might have! I think you should keep playing the games you love for just as long as you love doing it! Pattygirl is right about keeping our brains active, too. A game in an asylum sounds really intriguing, but scary! Your stir fry with the oven roasted turkey breast sounds delish!

Pattygirl, thanks for the encouragement on the motivation! I like to cook up hamburger patties, too. My son and DIL gave me an air fryer for Mother's Day. At the time I thought that I really did not want another big appliance to store that was probably a duplicate of things I already used, so I was a little dismayed, but I was wrong. I really like it! I am able to put a couple of frozen patties in there, set the timer and I just have to go back to turn them over halfway through and take them out when it beeps. The clean up is easy because it is non-stick and all the grease drips off. I did summer squash in it yesterday that turned out great, too. I don't tell my son and DIL about the hamburgers or other meats, though. They are vegetarians and would be appalled (although not surprised), lol!

Muffin I am sure that your son will do great! I know it is hard not to worry/wonder, though. It's a big step toward adulthood, too. That can be a little hard on a mother's heart and yet, exciting to see at the same time. Bahama Breeze sounds like fun and it sounds like you did a good job choosing your food. The sides can be real landmines of carbs, fats and salt. Too bad that the weather wasn't more cooperative for your visit. We had nasty thunderstorms roll through here again last night. Incredible lightening!

Have a terrific Tuesday everyone! Stay on plan and get that water and exercise (she tells herself)!
  • Hello everyone! Patty and MJMS thanks for the nice words...and I agree with you both. It’s good to have your mind involved!

Dinner last night didn’t go as planned...we decided to go out to a Mexican restaurant called Don Cuco’s and I should have known better! The sodium and all that...I had two chicken tacos and just a few bites of beans and cheese but it was enough to make the scale talk **** to me lol I am up 2 pounds
But it was so delicious and the side salad had this jalapeņo ranch dressing. I am now back on track fully (except the challah I ate earlier but just a small piece). So I I have a mini goal - I want to be under 164, preferably in the 162 range 2 weeks from now. Our 15th wedding anniversary is on the 4th of July and we are just going to do an overnight trip at Pechanga (casino resort here in So Cal). We can hopefully catch 2 hours of the pool between check in and when it closes at 6, have a nice dinner, maybe drinks at one of the bars, and some black jack and slots. It will be fun!

Today’s menu looked better than yesterday but I can do much better...breakfast - egg white, spinach, cheese bites from Costco. Lunch - roasted turkey breast, pepper jack cheese, pickles, mustard. Dinner - stir fry with pork, zucchini, mushrooms and served over a small amount of refried beans with green salsa and a smidgen of light sour cream. I did have 2 small cookies at work. I have to stop doing that!
  • Just checking in before I go to bed. I got my Keto South Beach book yesterday and been reading it. I like some of he changes that he makes and really enjoy reading all the science. I had a successful eating day but am absolutely exhausted. I don't know if that is from getting back on low carb or not. I hope it is and I will be able to get the energy the book says I should get.
  • The scale is still not being cooperative. I guess it's time for me to give myself a swift kick and get strict. I really don't lose easily and deviations just keep me from losing at all. Whine, whine, whine, LOL! Plus, I am like you Syckgirlsfv, I just have to look at sodium filled foods and I shoot right up. That Mexican food is so darn good, too. That Jalapeņo Ranch Dressing sounds like it would be good. One of the bagged salad mixes I get sometimes has a spicy ranch dressing that is good, but I bet the restaurant one was house made and even better. I read an article not too long ago that was comparing bottle ranch dressings and they mentioned the sodium content in each one. Yikes! I always looked at the fat and sugar grams and didn't look at the sodium count. I guess that's why it tastes so good.

Pattygirl, I read the SB Keto when it first came out. I got the Kindle edition. I should look it over again. I think I am not a keto person, but maybe there is some insight there for me that I missed before. I do know that the SB Supercharged works for me when I stick to the plan, even in phase 2. I just have trouble being diligent, especially when I get tired of planning and preparing meals. It is difficult to get meals out that are on plan because I just get too tempted to order off-plan. Now that covid restrictions are lifting, I need to find some places that will prepare good food in a healthy way.

Muffin, I hope the driving lesson went well and that your weather has improved!

I am off to Costco now. I know that I am going to get lettuce and paper goods. I hope that I find some other good things to eat and don't put any no-no's in the cart. I'll need to be strong (and tough with my husband)! Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!
  • morning! working at home today so much easier for me to be able to post!

I am up 2 pounds of water from Monday's Mexican food and lack of cardio (which I will do during lunch today). No worries, just need to refocus my attention back to avoiding certain things.

so far just coffee! I am going to make a scramble/omelet with egg whites, turkey breast, zucchini, and mushrooms here pretty soon. Probably a few shreds of cheese, too, and some green salsa and light sour cream. I have some meats still from our bbq this past weekend that need to be consumed so lunch will probably be a salad with bbq chicken. Dinner idea so far is a turkey burger patty wrapped in either lettuce or an almond flour tortilla with mustard and pickles of course!

I have blood work on Friday...plus a mammogram I took the day off but certainly not for fun!
  • MJMS it may be too late but I wanted to mention that the almond flour tortillas are in the refrigerated isles at Costco if you're interested...near the other ready to cook tortillas and the egg bites.

    happy shopping!
  • Syckgirlsfv I was born and raised here in Central TX and I love Mexican food, but bless his heart DH doesn't like it. He will it take out of Taco Bell since we moved back here, that is usually 1 day a month. We get take out when we go out and he likes KFC chicken which isn't my favorite and we get cheeseburgers from McDonalds and Taco Bell. Last week was KFC, this week was McD and next week will be tacos. If he liked Mexican food more, it would be very hard for me to diet at all. Same with fried chicken. He doesn't like it from the local place I like so we get KFC and I remove the batter and eat it plain. We don't have a Costco near us so we only have Sam's club and I don't know if they have those frozen tortillas but I will be locking. It is nice you can work at home. Hope you blood work and mammogram goes well.

MJMS I could be happy on Phase 1 SB but I do like the fact that some of the health issues I am starting to have the past year or so might correct itself or at least slow down if I could do the Keto SB so I just might have to move into it. I am doing so good right now with what I am doing that I am almost afraid to change much. I do like the fact that the KSB is flexible so I'm wondering if I can just implement some of the new guidelines to the SBSC plan. I will be trying that for now. How I lose and feel will determine my path. New low weight this morning was 180.4 lb.

Fasted until lunch because we got McD CB. I thew the bun down the garbage disposal and made myself a CB salad and DH and I always share the fries. Except for my high protein shake later I am through eating today. This will give me 3 hr eating window today with a 19 hr fast leading up to it.

Muffin Hope you are feeling okay and that your son's driving lesson went well. As my kids started driving that just made less I had to do. LOL Fun to watch them grow up but not easy when they start growing up and leaving home. We do worry about them. That is called being "Mama".

    Have a great one everybody.
  • back for a check in post-lunch and cardio! Had my scramble for breakfast: egg whites, zucchini, mushrooms, spinach, turkey, light sour cream, green salsa, shredded cheddar
just finished lunch: 2.5 oz bbq chicken breast, romaine lettuce, feta cheese, tortilla strip salad topping, zesty lime vinaigrette.

Patty my DH is the bad influence in the house LOL...he initiates fast food and alcohol! I try to stay away from fast food, but I do cave to Del Taco once in a while...love their fish tacos! I too usually peel the skin off of fried chicken if that's the only thing available. I am always wishing that those foods, and pizza, were super healthy and could be eaten as much as wanted!

I'm thinking a turkey patty tonight wrapped in an almond flour tortilla with jalapeno mustard and spicy bread and butter pickles. mmmmm
  • My weight stayed the same as yesterday, so no loss, no gain. I need to get some laundry done today and make some phone calls. I really hate making phone calls, especially to places like my health insurance. My plan online says that they pay for some of my dental work, but when the dentist's office called them, they told them I wasn't covered. Annoying! I hope I get through to a live person today and get some answers. Unfortunately it stresses me and then I want to eat, so I have to be strong and find some alternatives to eating. My gaining weight will not pay for dental work!

    Syckgirlsfv
, I hope that your bloodwork and mammogram go well. You are doing great on plan and with exercise! Thanks for the tip on the tortillas at Costco. I ended up not going after all, so I will look next time that I get there. I'll chime in with you and Pattygirl that husbands are very bad influences, LOL! And what is even more annoying about them is their seeming ability to drop weight by cutting out beer and ONE of their snacks.

Pattygirl, congratulations on dropping even more weight! You are doing so well! So close to the 170's! I love when I see that next decade and you will be there very soon, I think. I pulled up the SB Keto last night on my kindle but didn't get too far yet. I think I was more tired than I thought. I'll have to try to get into it more today.

Muffin! Everyone have a great Thursday!
  • I almost forgot that today is my new WI day because I started back on SBD last Thursday. I actually lost 5 lbs this week. I can't remember when I ever lost 5 lbs in one week. I'm sure when I was young and it was easy I probably did but that has been decades. So I am thrilled to say the least.

MJMS Hope you can get the insurance issues straightened out. I just remembered that I need to call our Part D insurance and ask them a question.

I finished reading all the science info in the KSB book and I think I will probably continue doing more of a SBSC plan and just use some changes that he allows in keto that probably won't hurt my results following the second book. That is what I did the first time I did SBD. I had been on Atkins and liked the fact that after the 2 week Phase 1 that I could have fruit. I didn't like cutting out fat to do low fat but didn't want to eat a lot of fat that I could on Atkins so I kept some of the healthier fats. So I won't be changing much of anything except I can now do Intermittent Fasting. I usually eat only 2 meals a day which is much like I ate when I was a teenager and was thin.

I will be making a low carb pizza today on a low carb flatbread I got from Aldi's. We always have a nice salad with that and I make cheese chips in place of the crackers I like with my salad. I drink a Premier protein shake around 6:30 and then fast again until 3ish the next day. Hoping to see that 179 on my scale sometime this next week.

    Syckgirlsfv and Muffin

    Have a nice day Everybody.
