  • today was a day spent at home completing our "to do" list,,,we moved into our new home a couple months ago but still have that corner of the basement full of boxes so we finally unpacked and found a place for everything. Because it's a new build there is a lot of settling dust..especially in the basement so we had to take a shop vac and clear everything out. I'm going to count that as my workout because that was a beast to lug around and my arms are sore from taking the hose up to the rafters. But made a lot of progress on that list!! Now if I could make that much progress on my weight loss journey that would be great. I was very tempted to weigh myself today just to see but I decided I need to just do it weekly so I do not get obsessed about the ups and downs that happen in a week.
As for food everything is going pretty well. I had to eat more meat than I felt I needed though to reach my calorie goal because I have had trouble getting enough calories while watching my carbs. Guess that shows how carb based my eating habits were
  • good morning! power walked to church last night. got a ride home from a friend. will be shutting down in a few minutes to go to bed.
  • Good Morning
Ciecie, the owl rescue went well! Poor guy had been hit by car.....some head trauma and fractured wing. Transported him to a raptor specialist where hopefully he can recover.

On my trip, when I stopped at a convenience store, I actually chose a yogurt over the cake doughnut with maple frosting and sprinkley things on top!

Today I will be allowing myself 1500 calories. Church this morning and family time in the afternoon......sweets will be involved so I am going to allow for that without overdoing it.

May you all have a great day as we travel this journey together.
  • Yikes!
Jendiet, scary owl story! I bet that was really frightening for a twelve-year-old. It would have shaken me up, that's for sure!
  • Good Morning, Everyone! Happy Weekend!

Last night I went to bed late, trying to catch up with my Sunday school lesson, had to wake early to make the salad for the luncheon today and I'm the greeter. Tired. I also feel really heavy from the extra chicken last night. It probably has more to do with the fact of eating more protein/fat later in the day.

Rachel1234 I'm glad the rescue was successful.

Kdmay5 Great job on your day and the functional fitness.

Last night: Full Body Stretch and exercises from the Dr.
    This Morning: Oxycise

    Calories for yesterday: 1450 +
    Weigh In: 187
    Up: .4

    Have a Blessed day!

    Hebrews 9:22
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

If we learn anything at all from being a Christian, we learn that good things do not come without sacrifice. Jesus had to give everything He had in order to reunite us with God. If we decide to be the best we can be, then we need to accept the fact that there is some sacrifice required. When we learn to sacrifice, we learn what it means to be a Christian. Sacrifice is a good discipline. Sacrifice teaches us what is really important, and it helps us be thankful for what we have. When we stop to think of how great Christ's sacrifice was for us, it inspires us in our diets to become better people: people worth dying for!

Today's thought: Dieting can draw me closer to being a disciple!
  • I decided to have yogurt for breakfast since I was feeling so "heavy". I could have not had breakfast but I know that wouldn't workout very well in a couple of hours and it might send me down a bad path. I used to eat yogurt on the weekends but I thought it was causing a problem. So today will be a test drive to see how it goes. I actually prefer to have the yogurt on the weekends since it breaks up what I normally have and gives me something different and it's easier than cooking. Sometimes I am crunched for time on the weekends, especially Sunday.
  • Good Morning - 137.2 - yesterday was 1813 in / 1924 out. Search dog training and (blush) I ate one of those Walmart muffins someone brought to training. WOW 370 calories of carbs and fat! So I walked extra to pay for it and got in 15,180 steps (7 miles). Funny my old goal was 16,000 steps but that was before resistance training..I burned a lot of calories though...always do on training days as I am not at a desk but standing/walking around for 5-6 hours.

Today is planned and is 1352 calories so a little room for more....:
    • Breakfast = oatmeal with walnuts, apples, butter and cinnamon
    • Lunch = potatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms, stiry fry
    • Dinner = my first IP butternut squash and black bean chili from Katies Bright Line book ...... pray I don't blow up the house or something
Busy day ahead: Taking down decorations, cleaning house, cleaning and organizing office, doing some work for my job, setting up a dog cleaning station in a spare bathroom, getting some tech wash at the store as well as some ingredients for the chili......also walking and resistance training....and while still being itchy....grrrrrrr

    ____________

Jendiet - not freaking out but that is very scary. Please tell me you are monitoring BP. Nurses seem to be "the worse" at this for their own sake. A good wrist monitor used properly is pretty accurate (we have an Omron I take to doctors office with me and take BP every morning while drinking coffee...I always check mine against theirs). Was that Claritin D? Maybe you are sensitive to the decongestant if so. Glad you found your wristband tracker again and hope you get to feeling better. Sinus rinse? The Tai Chi guy showed us some sinus clearing I do every day and it seems to work nicely.

Rachel - the wildlife rehab sounds fascinating. Is that your job or a volunteer thing? Great choice on the yogurt and not the donut. I made the bad choice and figure the amount of extra walking to pay for it is not worth what I ate!

Kdmay- Sounds like a great workout. I have so much of that I need to do. We have been in this house 10 years and there is STILL stuff we have not unpacked. YIKES

Diana - It sounds like you need another vacation !

Nancy - Yay on steady progress and weight loss. Given the psoriatic arthritis, I really admire your determination to keep pushing and hope the medication continues to help. (realizing the damage that has already been done ) Hope the garden trip was good and I love mongolian beef. Mmmmmm.

    ______________

EDIT - came back because I forgot to be grateful:
Fitness done. Not sure I will ever enjoy the resistance training. Still need to walk. Dog shower on hold. Need new spigot and diverter . Eating breakfast.

Gratitude for (1) A few weeks of sunshine ahead. (2) Not being bored (there is the twist on too much to do) . (3) Continued focus
  • Rachel, glad the owl rescue went well. hope he recovers soon!
  • Yesterday

    1353 calories
    85 carbs
    4.30 miles
    20 kb swings
  • Good morning to all
WI up 1.6, I know right????? 167.8 no explanation for it. All systems working, got my steps in, made my own broccoli and beef last night so controlled sodium. Oh well the body is a strange strange thing.
Well home and garden show was fun yesterday, picked up a few freebee's and got some nice ideas on things I want when I win the lotto.

We had high winds here last night and I am waiting for it to be light outside so I can see what damage was done, we lost power for about an hour and I heard a tree branch hit our house about 2 am. We have 7 or 8 very tall fir trees in our back yard. From listening to the radio it sounds like there are a lot of people still without power.

Todays food has not been planned out but I am making some yogurt in the IP so yeah for that
  • good morning again! got home from power walking and running errands a few minutes ago. will power walk to lunch in a few minutes.
  • So I get ready to make some breakfast and pulled out the eggs and there are not enough for DH and I both so we head to our favorite grocery store and we see that the power is out (traffic lights etc)..We get to the store and they seem to have power and we go in only to find out they have to toss all the frig veggies, all the deli, the meat, the dairy, frozen food, the cheese....it was so sad. They would not even sell me a few green peppers so we walked away with just a few non-perishable items. Then we headed down the road and tada Walmart has power so jumped in there for eggs, milk etc.
  • nancylmrn, so sorry you weren't able to get your groceries at your favorite grocery store. good thing Walmart had power. I power walked to and home from lunch. ran errands on the way home. my fitness goals for today have been attained.
  • Good morning (or afternoon for most of you)! Its chilly here (-40) and I am COLD to the bone. Hubby and I have been sticking with our plan well and finding new meals to enjoy together has been fun. I didn't really realize that over the past few years I have been making 2 dinners (one for the fam and one for me) and I would usually sit down last when everyone is finishing up and then eat my dinner. It was a source of anxiety me and I felt a little left out. I am not a chef by any means so to get one dinner on the table has been a growing process for me. Though I have definitely improved my cooking since I started my journey 3 years ago. My mom also joined the weight loss train and about a month ago went to the doc, joined the gym and has been inviting me to go with her. It's been fun to mix up my workout and spend some quality no-grandkid time with her.

I second what many others are saying Jen, make sure you're keeping your BP in check and mention it to your doc. They always say the shoemakers wives go shoeless - make sure you're taking care of yourself. (Think of what you'd say to one of us if we had posted a similar medical experience?)

Diana, I love my yogurt for breakfast! I saw some Siggi's on sale at the store yesterday and tried it. Delicious! I have been going for Fage for a while (or the Kirkland nonfat greek yogurt since its so similar in taste). If I plan to go back into eating yogurt like I have been I should probably start making it again. With two littles at home, my yogurt making takes up a lot of space in the fridge that is generally needed for other purposes.

Grannynancy, as always you inspire me that when I reach maintenance I can do it as well. You are solid with your plan and I am proud of you! When I first came to this thread a while back you were at a much different place and I am glad to see you doing so well.

Nancylmrn, thats so sad about the store - when something like that happens I always think about how that is such a waste to toss all that food. I know they can't legally sell it but it is just so sad.

In other news, I may have a small(ish) illustrator job with a local kindergarten teacher. I met with her on Friday and will see her again Monday to discuss a contract for her book. It would be a self publish through KDP or something similar, but I am so stinking excited! I have illustrated 3 other small time self published children's books, but it has been about 4 years since I have done that. (I have 4.5 year old twins so I wonder why its' been so long?) haha.

Hello to everyone else! I'm encouraged by you all!
