Belly Fat Struggle

  • Ok, I know not every one has the same shape BUT for those of you more apple shaped, like me (actually, I'm not originally, but the last 50 pounds, YEP)...

How do you deal with belly fat getting in the way of your workout? Like cardio/strength/flexibility(?) wise, there are moves I can theoretically do, but actually can't because my fat gets in the way. Kinda like having a big preggo belly, but not quite (I can still tie my shoes!).

I'm not creative enough to necessarily know how to modify the things I'm doing... When I was younger, my exercise came from sports, not from "workouts."
  • Moosehappy, I am apple shaped. My belly is bigger than it should be because I had 2 surgeries back to back where they had to cut through my abdominal muscle and now the muscle is a mess. It doesn't hold anything in. So my belly gets in the way a lot. I CAN tie my shoes, but it's hard. I use a doctor's scale because if I use one flat on the floor I cannot see past my belly to see how much I weigh. LOL So, yes, I understand your dilemma. I know this isn't much help, but I think you should just do the best you can. There may be moves you will have to modify. As long as you are moving you are doing your body good. Your form doesn't have to be perfect. And as you lose weight the fat will burn off and you will have less of it. I know you can do this!!!

And welcome to the forum. I hope it is helpful to you in your weight loss journey.
  • To be honest I dont think its just a matter of genetics :\
