Eggs... and egg whites

    I'm new here. Today is day 2. I already discovered I messed up a little bit yesterday, so trying to prevent that today!

    My coach said whole eggs are ok and count as 1 oz. protein. So what about egg whites? I've seen multiple recipes with IP foods mixed with egg whites. Doesn't seem like one or two egg whites should count as an entire ounce, given that a whole egg with yolk is one ounce. But don't feel like it should be ignored.

    Thoughts?
  • A whole egg has about 6g protein, and an egg white has about 4g protein.

    The yolks have some important nutrients, so I'd suggest eating whole eggs.
  • When I was in Phase One 4 eggs and 2 egg whites could be used as your 8 oz animal protein. If you wanted to have a hard boiled egg with your lunch you would just deduct 2 oz of protein from your dinner serving. Also, an egg white or 2 a day was generally considered “free.”
