Binge

  • Hi,

I've just binged on a 10" pizza and I truly don't know why!!!! I've had weekly psychotherapy sessions for the last 2 years which I started because I wanted to deal with my eating issues. I have made A LOT of positive changes over the last 2 years...I have lost over 30 lbs, run 5k most weeks and attend other fitness classes. I eat healthy foods for most meals. I have had a really good day...no difficult emotions to deal with...and so I just can't figure it out!!! I am tempted to make myself sick as I am so disgusted with myself...something I haven't done for a long time...but I won't. I feel like I've ruined a really nice day for myself. Anyway...thanks for listening.
  • Everyone binges from time to time, it's nothing to beat yourself up over and you don't need any other justification or explanation for this other than "being human"! <3
You can pick yourself up from this and it won't even matter once the food weight is gone. Please go easy on yourself. x

    Hey Nova84.

Great work on losing 30lbs, I was reading through your thread and as I specialise in helping my clients overcome binge eating and self-sabotage I couldn't help feeling the urge to help you.

Firstly, losing weight MUST come from a place of compassion (love) for yourself, not from disgust. Does that make sense? - For example, if you are dieting and exercising because you are disgusted in yourself to the point that you want to make yourself sick, then you are only doing to do those actions when you are motivated by the pain caused by being overweight... Instead, be more compassionate with yourself.

Secondly, what happens when we tell ourself we can't have something? --- We want it MORE. We start counting the days since we last had that chocolate ect...

Have you tried a flexible dieting approach?

Instead of labeling foods good and bad -- just eat whatever you want whenever you want - as long as you are hitting your calories for the day (and not go over or under) you will lose weight AND feel in control, WITHOUT having to deprive yourself.

I've had clients who previously couldn't last more than 2 weeks "on the wagon" who have now made a complete turnaround and have falled off the wagon since.

I can help you get set up with this just drop me a PM.

    Hope this helps.
